– Many Republicans and Christie admirers aren’t sure how best to respond, but they’ve taken a long look at the available evidence, and have decided to ask the question that matters most to them: “Isn’t President Obama awful?”

– In case you’re wondering why the GOP’s only plan for health care is repeal the ACA, well it’s because their other ideas are crap.

– Feminized culture made it not OK to cause traffic on the GWB?

– The EPA is Evil. Save me EPA.

– Regardless of your stance on prosecuting online hate speech and/or explicit threats, we, as a society, need to start accepting the fact that the internet is real. The internet is not a fantasyland without consequences—it’s a real place of real joy and real danger where real flesh-and-blood people exchange real ideas and real threats.

    Same issue with black cats. Black cats are left in shelters at a rate much higher than other cats. The cat I have now found me in the woods where I was living in a small cabin after I left my last job.

    In other news, it looks like Ol’ Chris Christie may have steered funds meant for hurricane Sandy victims using funds meant to promote tourism to make commercials for his campaign. I’ve read one estimate that nearly 3/4 of those relief funds vanished down a rathole without a trace, some $3 billion and people, humans, individual citizens that those funds were intended to go to to rebuild their homes and shit have yet to see a penny of it.

    It’s looking like Mr. Creosote is almost ready for his thin mint.

    @2. Most liberals and progressives think that Christie is a bully and unfit to be president because of his documented actions. Is that message getting any traction in the corporate media and with the general public. For all I know, tea baggers may be think better of christie since it’s shown he’d go out of his way to vindictively punish anyone who didn’t push his conservative agenda.

    The articles detailed multiple instances of young inmates at YSI facilities in Florida complaining of having been beaten, sexually assaulted or neglected by guards only to have their reports buried or minimized. Former staff at these prisons told HuffPost that the company systematically discouraged employees from reporting mistreatment and other violations in order to avoid imperiling future state contracts.

    A real comedian. Perhaps we should start shooting at any car with Texas plates? It would make more sense, Texans are notoriously unintelligent and contaminated with industrial chemicals, and cannot be trusted to make rational decisions. This makes them dangerous.

    The brain damage caused by the combination of massive industrial contamination and substandard education systems that exist throughout Texas is becoming a serious social issue. Perhaps it is time we leave it on Mexico’s doorstep, light it on fire and run away.

    @17. One of the most influential sets of people in a child’s life and the conservatives want to pay them dirt. Well, other kids teachers. I bet they demand the best teachers for their offspring!
    Or once their kids are out of school, the “I’ve got mine, Fuck you” crowd no longer wants to pay for anything.
    Or teach them at home so they don’t get infected with those unapproved ideas.

    Contrary to what the NRA claims, an armed society isn’t a polite society, it’s a society in which everyday frictions and petty arguments escalate into deadly confrontations.

    In a Florida movie theater today, two couples argued over someone using a cellphone during a movie. Somebody stood up. Somebody threw popcorn at somebody else. A husband is dead and his wife is wounded. The shooter, a retired cop, is in jail facing murder charges.

    Roger Rabbit Commentary: This is exactly why packing guns in public, as advocated by “gun rights” proponents, is a terrible idea. More people carrying guns = more shootings = more tragic and avoidable gun deaths. It’s not more complicated than that. The NRA is wrong. The gun nights are wrong. The Republicans are wrong. People going out in public with guns is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea. One that should be discouraged, not encouraged. The people involved in this deadly altercation weren’t criminals. They were ordinary folks going about their mundane business who got on each other’s nerves. And because one of them had the bad judgment to bring a gun to a verbal quarrel, all their lives are ruined. A husband is dead, his wife is wounded and a widow, another husband likely will go to prison for life, and his wife is also effectively a widow. All because someone who should know better took a gun into a place where guns don’t belong.

    There’s a judge who decided it’s ok to suspend the Constitution in border areas for unreasonable search by the police. That dang Constitution gets in the way of government too much, according to the local policia!

    We have a teeny black “tuxedo” cat with a huge personality. Originally named Samantha, or Sam, she’s become “Samuel L. Jackson” because she will fuck you up if you step out of line. I mean SERIOUS talons for wrong petting. However, our neighbors describe an event when they were frantically looking for their indoor cat who got out an panicked – and Sam literally got their attention and led them half a block up the alley and sat in front of a bush, under which their terrified cat was hiding – real Lassie action. Sam’s the bomb. (When she’s good we call her Audrey Catburn, because she ROCKS that little black dress.)

    Over the weekend a mudslide shut Sounder-North down for 48 hours.(BNSF’s CYA rule, freighters run at restricted speeds). Sounder South was shut down for the morning because of a derailment near Auburn of a Chicago bound container train. Tracks were clear in time for a truncated afternoon schedule.

    On Sounder North, mudslide zone remediation has been underway, but stopped for the season. Crews had stabilized two of the six worst slide zones.
