Apparently the liberals at CFPB are the last to learn who won the 2016 US presidential election.

Mick Mulvaney has sent out a memo instructing all staff to ignore her, and to forward her communications to the GC’s office.

“What kills me about this is it gives people a reason to believe I don’t respect women.”
Bitter hypocrisy would be a better descriptor.
Franken told Minneapolis television station WCCO in another interview that his predicament was “a bitter irony” because he has championed women‘s’ issues and has employed them in both his campaign and Senate offices.
Oh, look. Franken has a casting couch.
“I’ve put them (women) in the highest jobs in my office,” he said.
@1 There’s this little thing called a “statute” that might take the wind out of your gloating. Dodd-Frank says the CFPB director, not the president, appoints an acting director until a new permanent director is appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. Trump is trying to bypass that process. He might even get a Republican judge to agree with him, if his legal staff can figure out how to forum shop.* But ultimately the odds aren’t on his side. If longstanding legal precedent is followed, the specific language of Dodd-Frank should prevail over a statute of general application, e.g. the Vacancies Act. Every lawyer knows this, whereas a doctor, especially a dumbfuck radiologist, can’t be expected to figure out a statutory interpretation issue.
* The impediment to this, of course, is that Cordray’s appointee chose the court that will hear the case when she filed her lawsuit.
7
Roger Rabbitspews:
Morrissey, who should know, has redefined “sexual harassment” for us as “often just a pathetic attempt at courtship.”
You’re expecting the statute to be interpreted as if an absence or unavailability refers to status including resignation or firing, rather than a place-holding device to ensure continuity of leadership when the director is out with appendicitis or is being rendered permanently incontinent and impotent by a TURP procedure, for instance. The latter may be more familiar to you.

And based on the description of the attack he may very well be related to YLB.
Security footage obtained by The Post shows the suspect, clad in a hoodie and jacket, walking briskly up to the corner of Church of God in Christ for All Saints in Morristown around 6:45 a.m. Saturday, and limply tossing a rock at the building’s facade.
“It wasn’t a good throw, he wasn’t a strong guy,” 17-year-old Tahj Valentine said prior to the arrest as he vacuumed up glass before services Sunday.

you know, I would like to thank Doctor Dumbfuck for at least getting the terminology correct. The statutes in question are correctly referred to as “bias crimes” statutes. For a reason. And it has everything to do with the law, and nothing whatsoever to do with “political correctness” or “mind control”.
A bias crime is one where there exists evidence to support a conclusion on the part of the finder of fact that the intent of the crime was to intimidate, harass, or infringe upon the civil liberties of a large group within the community. The race or ethnicity of the suspect isn’t really important. The alleged intent of the suspect is what counts. And that’s a normal thing for the criminal law to grapple with.
But here’s the good news for Doctor Dumbfuck and all the other racists out there: you can still intend all kinds of really awful things toward large groups of your fellow citizens. The law can’t take your hatred away from you. You get to keep it, and feed and nurture it, and bring it out to troll and play late at night on 4chan when nobody is around. Just don’t act on it. And if you do, then you’d just better hope you can run BitBleach on your devices before the police get to them.

“The federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998 gives the president the power to temporarily authorize an acting official to perform the duties of an officer of an executive agency. The critical language in the Vacancies Reform Act is this: It is the ‘exclusive means’ for authorizing the appointment of an acting head unless another statute expressly designates a particular officer to serve in that acting capacity.
“In fact, the law establishing the CFPB does just that: It expressly designates a particular officer and states that the CFPB’s deputy director shall ‘serve as acting Director in the absence or unavailability of the Director.’ …
“The DOJ’s interpretation is that because the Dodd-Frank Act designates how the CFPB vacancy is filled, then Dodd-Frank just becomes one of two ways to fill the vacancy. The Vacancies Reform Act continues to be an alternative legal way to fill the vacancy. Under that interpretation, the Vacancies Reform Act is no longer the exclusive way to fill vacancies — it becomes an additional way to do so.”

Trump is not serious about “draining the swamp.” The first step that’s needed is establishing term limits for the House and Senate members. I’d like to see both Congress people and Senators be limited to two four-year terms. Once those two terms are up, they should not be allowed to have ANY federal employment (elected or otherwise) for ten years. Also, any retirement system enjoyed by members of the House and Senate should be immediately converted a defined contribution plan. No more fat pensions for these oligarchs. Let them have defined contribution plans as they exist in the private sector. None of this bullshit about going to Washington to do good and end up doing DAMN good. Damn good for themselves, that is!
If Trump were serious about draining the swamp, he’d be a big supported of term limits, but that isn’y the only problem with the federal government. The big problem is that we have too many damn people on the federal payroll. The federal government does not produce any wealth to support this bloated work force and must seize from private wealth producers the funds to support this obese bureaucracy. It’s time to downsize all of the federal government, including the military, and make those pompous bureaucrats get real jobs in the private sector to survive. No more government teat for them!
Trump’s tax plan does nothing to pay off the $20 trillion we have on the credit card. Getting the debt paid off should be his biggest priority. If we were serious about it and started today, it would take at least half a century to pay that debt down to zero. It should be felt most by government workers and their overseers by reducing pay and benefit packages. If those folks don’t like it, I advise them to see if they can do better in a private sector job. It’ll take about two seconds for those louts to realize how good they had it working for government.
Trump has not acknowledged we have a far flung empire that is not getting us anything but more dead and maimed military members. Do we really have to have 900-plus bases all over the globe? Can’t Europe and Israel take care of themselves by now? As fas as the Korean situation goes, it’s time for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines to have defensive and offensive nuclear/chemical/biological capabilities to counter misbehavioir by China or Russia.

@50 Such shifts are not unusual in justices of the court. Most justices are not real creatures of the right and left. It also depends on what type of case, and who the parties are. A conservative judge can be very liberal in some criminal cases. Amore liberal judge can be friendly to business, Politics and the limited power of the court also affects the courts decisions.

The votes in Congress are not there folks, Sure the mid terms could swing things to where the Democrats can start the process, but they are unlikely to have enough votes, and do they really want President Pence?
I would not at all be surprised if Trump is unable to win the Republican nomination. If he intends to run again. Still Trump maintains a solid base for the primaries and the next Presidential election.
Apparently Keith has found resistance tiring and frustrating. And Donald Trump is still in the White House. Is 6 months from now a good cut off date for Keith’s prophesies? Or is the rest of the resistance getting tired and fracturing and to be of little use in the mid terms and next Presidential election? Could it be the stock market is just not working with Keith either or his predictions?

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Because the GOP’s economic growth projections — disputed by most economists — are almost certainly overly optimistic, this would make tax increases on wage earners and retirees all but certain.
Taxing the middle class to subsidize the rich was already implicit in the GOP tax scheme, but they tried to disguise this by giving the working classes a token tax cut upfront, and then hitting them with big tax increases several years from now. This would simply make the ripoff explicit and upfront.

Of course, I don’t expect you to know this, given that your comments repeatedly demonstrate you don’t know anything about anything.

@102 You grasp nothing. It won’t be the Democrats who impeach Trump, just as it wasn’t the Democrats who forced out Nixon. The Republican Party will eject Trump like the festering foreign body he is. They will do it for self-preservation just like in 1974.

Headline in this morning’s Seattle Times: “Seattle-area homebuyers needed $11,000 pay raise in past year to keep up with rising prices.”
The minimum wage boost to $15, phased in over several years, won’t cut it. What will happen, of course, is that workers who don’t already own homes with affordable mortgages will be pushed out of the Greater Puget Sound homebuying and rental markets by the influx of higher-paid tech workers who can win the bidding wars for the available housing stock.
That means there will be no one to serve food, sweep floors, or drive ambulances and tend to the wounded in emergency rooms. Seattle will become depopulated of people who make the city run. This is fine if everything can be done with robots, but those robots had better get here pretty soon, before this city shuts down.
I’m not arguing Seattle’s minimum wage should be raised to $80,000 a year, which seems to be the minimum income required to support a middle class family in this town now. That’s obviously not feasible or realistic. All I’m saying is Amazonians will have to cook their own food, sweep their own floors, and watch their kids themselves, because there won’t be anyone else here to do it.

Btw, if anyone needs a 5-bedroom tract home of 1960s vintage in the $600s price range, in a close-in north end suburb with good schools and convenient access to shopping, bus lines, and I-5, my neighbor just moved to assisted living and her one-owner home is now vacant and will soon go on the market. It’s the usual split-entry with 2-car garage, on a secluded 7000 sq ft off-street lot nestled under towering fir trees. We’d like it to be bought by an owner-occupant family, not turned into a rental. This area votes blue by about a 2-to-1 margin.

It’s no longer a suspected bias attack because the attacker was a black dude.
A Morristown man was arrested Sunday in connection with the vandalism of five New Jersey churches over the weekend, authorities said.
Zuri C. Towns, 45, confessed to breaking signs and windows at the predominantly African-American churches, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

You don’t even have the energy to hang sheetrock. And most of you can’t pass the drug tests and background checks to clean soiled bed linens at the elder care home. If you can get on at Home Depot and hang in past the probationary period you can probably throw yourself off a loading dock and get a disability settlement.
Think about it. You are not going to make it to 65. And even if you do, your beloved Republicans are about to gut Social Security, and Medicare. That’s the only way they can pay for this tax cut for Seattle. It’s either that or go out in a blaze of glory from a corner room in Las Vegas.
Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
52,
you know, I would like to thank Doctor Dumbfuck for at least getting the terminology correct.

Politically Incorrect spews:
It’s time for the US to worry about itself and tell everyone else to fend for themselves. We cannot be the world’s police force nor its welfare office.

Taxing the middle class to subsidize the rich was already implicit in the GOP tax scheme, but they tried to disguise this by giving the working classes a token tax cut upfront, and then hitting them with big tax increases several years from now. This would simply make the ripoff explicit and upfront.
