an example of some of the more “interesting” offenses included in Patten’s allocution is his admission that he illegally funneled a $50,000 check from Russian intelligence operative Konstantin Kilminik into PornSweat’s inauguration fund.
You’ll recall that this is the fund that mysteriously never accounted for half of the money it raised. Of the money that was accounted for, half of that, about $57 million was paid to just four party planning companies most of which were created in the weeks following the election. The largest recipient was WIS Media Partners, a creation of Stephanie Winston Wolkoff a close pal of Melania* who received $26 million. Also included in the fund’s accounting were payments to Rick Gates, recently convicted felon involved in Russian interference in the election.
Between Gates and Patten and their involvement in bringing foreign money into the various funds following the election, Mueller and others in the DOJ could be busy for years. And if I were Ms. Winston Wolkoff’s attorney I’d be urging her to find those fucking receipts fast.

The US has about 12x as many people and 380x the gun deaths compared to Australia. You’re a lot safer there than here.
But Republicans don’t give a hoot for human life. We already know that. Their opposition to abortion has nothing to do with saving babies. It’s about controlling women. We know that, too.

What data?
The twenty year old quoted viral email in 23 is nothing but made up nonsense. It’s been passed around the internet by hapless, gullible tools (usually drunk) ever since. The quoted “police officer” probably never existed.
There are still a lot of personal firearms in Aus. About one in seven own at least one. And as with the US a small percentage of all owners own the vast majority of personal firearms. The big difference now since then is that they are all licensed and regulated. Australians who want to own firearms, depending on the type of weapon, have to go through certain steps and they have to buy them from a licensed dealer. Hand guns are more difficult to own than rifles or long arms. Semiautomatics are basically limited to businesses that need them to protect stuff.
Gun ownership in Aus has only gone down a bit. Gun deaths of all kinds have gone way down. Australia is a much safer place today than it was when an angry, aggrieved, lonely white guy (same as it ever was) went on a gun rampage twenty years ago. NFA probably had something to do with it.

By contrast, Washington’s minimum wage is $11.00 per hour, or roughly $1,900 per month, although it should be noted many employers schedule minimum wage workers for less — often much less — than 40 hours a week. So, if Republicans have an argument here, it’s that it’s too easy to sit at home for $188 a week when you should get off your ass and pay $250 a week for child care in order to earn $308 a week (assuming 28 hours of work for $11/hr).
