    A Democratic candidate for Congress who worked as a postal inspector and CIA counter-terrorism agent is being smeared by her Republican opponent as a “terrorist” based on a gross (one has to say imaginative) misinterpretation of a resume item on her federal employment application form, which was illegally obtained from the Postal Service by GOP operatives working for Paul Ryan.

    By 2012 a peer reviewed scientific analysis of crime reports across Australia estimated an 80% reduction in suicides by firearm and a 35% to 50% reduction in homicide by firearm.

Also included in the fund’s accounting were payments to Rick Gates, recently convicted felon involved in Russian interference in the election.

    Between Gates and Patten and their involvement in bringing foreign money into the various funds following the election, Mueller and others in the DOJ could be busy for years. And if I were Ms. Winston Wolkoff’s attorney I’d be urging her to find those fucking receipts fast.

    @23 assumes or equates Americans with Australians and concludes that an all armed America would be the same as an all armed Australia. I would beg to differ. Just because both fall under the same category as humans, we aren’t the same people. We have different cultures and are different societies.

    To use this data and say that if American’s had more guns we would be better of is completely unjustifiable. Australians can handle their guns, unlike Americans. I think the mistake to make is American Exceptionalsm (but we are not).; Americans are a bunch of unruly Dumbfucks compared to some other nations.

    @33 I didn’t delve into that aspect of it, because it was just a superficial (and incredibly lame) troll, but yeah, figures for gun deaths in 2015 are 35 in Australia (which has gun control) and 13,286 in USA (which does not). If anything, that’s an argument for more, not less, gun control.

    The US has about 12x as many people and 380x the gun deaths compared to Australia. You’re a lot safer there than here.

    But Republicans don’t give a hoot for human life. We already know that. Their opposition to abortion has nothing to do with saving babies. It’s about controlling women. We know that, too.

    The twenty year old quoted viral email in 23 is nothing but made up nonsense. It’s been passed around the internet by hapless, gullible tools (usually drunk) ever since. The quoted “police officer” probably never existed.

    There are still a lot of personal firearms in Aus. About one in seven own at least one. And as with the US a small percentage of all owners own the vast majority of personal firearms. The big difference now since then is that they are all licensed and regulated. Australians who want to own firearms, depending on the type of weapon, have to go through certain steps and they have to buy them from a licensed dealer. Hand guns are more difficult to own than rifles or long arms. Semiautomatics are basically limited to businesses that need them to protect stuff.

    Gun ownership in Aus has only gone down a bit. Gun deaths of all kinds have gone way down. Australia is a much safer place today than it was when an angry, aggrieved, lonely white guy (same as it ever was) went on a gun rampage twenty years ago. NFA probably had something to do with it.
