Hey local media… I haven’t seen much coverage yet of Reichert’s awful fundraising quarter. Um… FYI… he’s the incumbent.
Just thought you should know.
UPDATE:
As much as I hate to correct Postman — and in this case, I really, really, really hate to correct him — Reichert raised $331K for the quarter, not $240K. It’s confusing, because this time around Reichert reported the take from his Laura Bush funder using a separate joint committee, the way you’re supposed to… and who could possibly have anticipated that?
UPDATE, UPDATE:
Over on (u)SP my new friend Eric seems to get it: “8th CD Fundraising is Troublesome.” Well, it is if you’re Reichert.
Ed Weston spews:
The P.I. mentioned it today, I think.

The P-I mentioned Darcy’s quarter — briefly — but didn’t really report on Reichert. This is actually big news. The folks in DC who follow this thing are both impressed with Darcy’s performance and shocked at Reichert’s. Prepare to see the other insider newsletters join CQ in upgrading this race into the toss-up category.
Hannah spews:
Umm the PI has the story…

It’s slow for Reichart right now because most
Republicans are paying their taxes unlike all
the democrats on the dole. It will pick up
during the next pay period

Well, either the Republican Party has decided that Reichart is dead weight and has left him to sink or swim on his own, or there is some off-budget fundraising going on. Conceivably, Republicans could be holding back their money for a big “swift-boat” style independent add campaign at the last minute.
How do these numbers compare with 2006 at this stage of the game?
