The Seahawks play the Giants today in the first of their four games against NFC East teams this season. While the NFC West has looked truly awful (especially the Rams), the NFC East is looking exactly the opposite. The Eagles’ loss to the Bears last Sunday night was the first and only loss by an NFC East team to someone outside their division this year (and Westbrook definitely would’ve gotten that yard if he was playing). After 4 weeks, the NFC West only has two wins outside of the division. With an 0-3 record and 13 more games to go, will anyone in the NFC West beat a team from the NFC East this year?

From The Economist:
“A survey of academic economists by The Economist finds the majority — at times by overwhelming margins — believe Mr Obama has the superior economic plan, a firmer grasp of economics and will appoint better economic advisers. (…)
Eighty per cent of respondents and no fewer than 71% of those who do not cleave to either main party say Mr Obama has a better grasp of economics. Even among Republicans Mr Obama has the edge: 46% versus 23% say Mr Obama has the better grasp of the subject. “I take McCain’s word on this one,” comments James Harrigan at the University of Virginia, a reference to Mr McCain’s infamous confession that he does not know as much about economics as he should.”
It’s even more striking when you look at some of the internals. The economists rated Obama’s plan to deal with the housing and economic crisis 1.1 points higher than McCain’s, on a five point scale; economists who describe themselves as not affiliated with either party rated it .6 higher. Economists as a whole rated Obama’s tax plan nearly 1.1 points higher than McCain’s; unaffiliated economists rated it nearly .7 points higher. On fiscal discipline, economists as a whole rate Obama a full point higher; unaffiliated economists rate him .55 points higher.
Predictably, Obama dominates on topics like reducing income inequality and reducing the number of people without health insurance. But he also crushes McCain on reforming financial regulations: economists as a whole rank him 1.3 points higher than McCain, while he leads among unaffiliated economists by nearly a full point (and is almost tied with McCain among Republicans.)
My only question: who are those eleven economists (7.8% of the total) who think McCain has a better grasp of economics than Obama?

Remebering the last time the Giants came to Seattle, anyone want to guess how many fase-start penalties the G-men will get called against them? I’ll start the bidding with an even dozen.
Daddy Love spews:
The reason we all talk about Sarah Palin is simple: John McCain is boring, even to Republicans.
THe new “fear and smear” strategy will be as successful as McCain’s previous dozen strategies; that is, not.
Daddy Love spews:
Oh, and I’m informally betting with my buddy, taking the Seahawks and giving 5 (to the best of my recollection). Not for money, thank God.

Sorry, wingnuts, but the Bradley effect has disappeared.

Real Clear Politics needs to update their map. They’re showing MN, WA and MI as leaning towards Obama. They are all now solidly Obama states cutting Obama’s electoral college votes garnered from leaners and giving Obama a solid claim on 264 electoral votes.
I’ll repeat that again for the righties and the trolls: Obama has a solid claim on 264 electoral votes.
McCain is sitting on 163 with 5 being leaners. The McCain camp might as well refund it’s donors money, fold up shop and go home.

@2:
If you really believed in balanced budgets – you would vote for a democrat because republicans have caused the greatest budget deficits in history (including the last republican George W. Bush who took a budget suplus from Clinton and turned it into a budget deficit).
If you really believed in the rule of law you would not vote for republicans who have politicized the justice department (under current investigation for illegal influence) or for the McCain Palin ticket (Palin is under current investigation for illegal influence).
If you really believed in leaving citizens alone you would not vote for republicans who have approved illegal spying on americans, suspended habeus corpus and want to regulate what a woman does with her body.
If you really believed in states rights you would not vote for republicans who (the Bush administration) overturned California’s rule on gas mileage standards.
Bottom line: Republicans are fooling you with words but their actions belie those false words.

44-6. And I thought the game was at home. Well, it was. For the Giants. Shit, you try and keep your head straight working Marine hours when you’re not a Marine. So when’s basketball season………….. Shit.
The Huskies and Cougars suck harder than Paul ‘Max Hardcore’ Little’s bimbos…….. Shit.
The Mariners were awful………. Shit.
When do Sounders FC start up?

When do Sounders FC start up?
Not soon enough.
Broadway Joe spews:
Too true, Lee. I’ll be buying the MLS DirectKick PPV package next season for Sounders FC matches. It’s gonna be weird hearing Kevin Calabro bust a blood vessel over something other than the Sonics. Also, I’ll try to make at least one visit to the Bay Area from Reno when they play San Jose next season.
