With the Sonics in Oklahoma City, the Huskies 0-3, and the Angels’ Francisco Rodriguez having more saves than the Mariners have wins, the Seahawks losing to the awful Rams today would send this city to an all-time sports low.
Well, I guess the Storm are in the playoffs, although that just makes it all sadder somehow.

Goldy,
What about referencing the Rossi-Gregoire (non-)contest last night? Or are you too embarrassed by Gregoire’s performance? Are you afraid her bribery scandal and fiscal malfeasance will drag down all the other Dems on the ballot this year — reminding people that you guys are the Party of Tammany Hall and
Mayor Daley’sBarack Obama’s corrupt political machine? With all of the Bush references, you’d think she’d hired Darcy’s impotent campaign strategists.
Since you’re too ashamed of Gregoire to discuss the debate and risk raising a dozen issues about her incompetence and why she shouldn’t be re-elected, maybe HA readers should just read Eric Earling’s live blog of the “debate.”

@1 Get real. Both candidates sucked. There’s more oil in Rossi than there is in ANWAR. He should be drilled and drilled now.

I’m not Goldy, shit-for-brains.

Answer – The Republican Party.

Losing your team sucks an awful lot more than your team losing.

Lee @ 3
And the message wasn’t directed at you, “shit-for-brains.” Perhaps you should put down your bong and try blogging sober some day. Goldy owns the site and I was addressing a message to HIM. It says “Open Thread,” dumbass. I’m sorry if my use of the word “contest” confused you and made you think your post was actually relevant… to anything.
This site used to be like kids’ juice — “at least 10% real content.” Now it is all filler. Four years ago, Goldy would’ve been writing about city-, state- and region-level issues to counter SoundPolitics. He’d even have some real, original content. Now, all you’ve got is a rehash of Kos and other nutroot sites. So much for his goal of making this some sort of a regional liberal portal.
Goldy, THAT is why you’re not a “journalist” (to answer your earlier post). (Now, Leeeee… this… is… an… ASIDE… directed to… GOLDY… not you. So, don’t get your panties in a bunch again.)
No wonder Stefan is kicking Goldy’s ass in terms of traffic:

Steve @ 2 “[Rossi] should be drilled and drilled now.”
Whatever. But not even Roger Rabbit would “drill” the walking corpse that holds the office now.
Alex spews:
Gregoire, sad performance last night was typical.
She actually made Jimmy Carter look good.
Not surprised your avoiding the embarrassment.
Whenever the far left avoid talking about a highly watched debate you know they sucked.
Farmer Fred spews:
Wow, when Washington state is avoiding the nations slowdown, it is because of “Christine’s Leadership”. When we hit 6% unemployment, it is Bush’s fault. Is GW running for the state office? Don’t the D’s control all sectors of our state? Reminds me of the D machine’s line in 2000; “Clinton isn’t running!”. The D’s were correct then, and wrong now.
I loved all her “when I was elected, I inherited xx mess”,and immediately blamed Dino. Gee, I thought Gary Locke was our previous governor.
Typical lawyer accounting on the states budget, no idea of how the real, blue collar, small business world works. Dino was correct in his analysis, and Christine gave him a lot of material for more adds against her.
I don’t see how Christine looked good last night. Compared to Sarah, no wonder Christines ratings suck in comparison. She came across as almost bitchy (not saying she is one, just how she sounded).
On a side note, the only adds for CG that I have seen (here in eastern WA) have been on the stem cell issue. This is not a major issue, and in my area, is only building support for Rossi. A real blunder on her part (running a anti pro-life stance in a solidly R area), I mean how stupid is that?
Bottom line, the state is worse off than it was 4 years ago. If you vote Obama (which I can understand), your a hypocrite for voting Gregoire. Its “change” that we need, remember?
Have a nice day,
Farmer Fred

“Bottom line, the state is worse off than it was 4 years ago…”
You still have to keep it in the context of the nation’s economy. Washington State does not live in a vacume. But we are FAR better off than most of the rest of the nation. And a lot of it is due to Gregoire’s efforts to keep the Boeing 787 production in Washington State. For an airplane which was supposed to be “snap-together” like an Ikea dining-room table, it’s surprising the number of new entry-level jobs it has created.
rhp6033 spews:
As for the debates, I didn’t think anybody hit any home runs. If you supported Gregoire before the debate, you supported her afterwards. If you supported Rossi afterwards, you supported him.
I thought Rossi’s arguments borrowed a lot from Newt Ingrich’s classic 1996 GoPac memo, substituting reasoned logic and careful analysis of complicated economic issues with strident repitition of short slogans. But then, I support Gregoire, for those very reasons.
John spews:
@10
She added taxpayer’s jobs to an already bloated state payroll.
If she can take credit for all the Boeing jobs then she can take credit for 6% unemployment , 3.2 billion deficit and record high gas and food prices.
