If she’s really a fan of either team, she’d have to know that she can’t have it both ways. You’re either with the Seahawks or you’re with the Steelers.
Smells like more political pandering–just like McCain changing the name of the football team to pander to the audience when re-telling and re-telling and re-telling one of his cherished POW tales.
The most important issue: would Sarah Palin fire Tyrone Willingham or not?

From the mouth of Karl Rove (no really, read it)from an article in the Times this morning:
“Meanwhile, former Bush political adviser Karl Rove became an unlikely critic of McCain, complaining that he had joined Obama in shading the truth in their campaign advertising.
“McCain has gone, in some of his ads, similarly gone one step too far in sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100-percent truth test,” Rove told Fox News Sunday.
The Obama campaign has complained especially about an ad that declares Obama supports sex education for kindergarteners. He supported a program to teach children how to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable touching to help them ward off sexual predators.”
You KNOW you’re bad off as a Republican when Rove criticizes you.
Will wonders ever cease?
Also, see the Palin/Gibson interview on 20/20? She thinks Alaska is a “microcosm” of the country and Wasilla is “diverse”? Really? This is the one thing that I walk away with from these interviews; she really has nothing to offer urban America where the majority of Americans live. I don’t even think she can relate to them. She can extoll small town virtues but the fact remains that if elected (shudder), she will represent ALL Americans.
Lastly, if you missed SNL last night, you missed a hilarious opening skit with Tina Fey (guess who she was) and Amy Pohler as Hillary Clinton. I think it’s on YouTube. Very funny and biting.

I used to live in the Bay Area, so I went to a few Raiders games. They sucked, and their fans weren’t any better: a bunch of jerks missing any sense of sportsmanship. Sorry if you’re a Raiders fan, but if you’ve ever gone to a game in Oakland, you know the truth of Hometown Raider fans.
The joke used to be: You know why Oakland can’t afford better players? Too much of their budget is devoted to bail.

Here is an updated score on the BIG Game from Rasmussen:
Sunday, September 14, 2008
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows John McCain reaching the 50% level of support for the first time since Barack Obama wrapped up the Democratic Presidential Nomination. McCain retains a three-point advantage for the third straight day, 50% to 47%.
A field goal seperates them.
I’d rather be McCain because he scored the last touchdown (picking Palin) to take the lead and has the ball back driving for another score. O-blah-blah was too busy waving to the fans in Europe and smilin’ purty for the TV and got faked out on an end-around!!

Willingham is a good coach who inherited a horrible situation. The Huskies are still suffering from the ugly years where they lost all those scholarships for all the NCAA violations…..and now they get 2nd stringers.
I’d stick with Willingham 2 more years after this one.

I’d like to see the Huskies keep Willingham around as well, because IMHO he’s a great leader and molder of men. He’s also a pretty decent coach who’s gotten stuck in some lousy situations. A few more decent recruitment classes would help, but the light at the end of the tunnel is visible.
But the Tyees already have the knives out, and they’ll get him canned one way or another. Then it’s another new coach, another rebuilding process, and eventually the next coach gets fired in three or four years because he hasn’t delivered a national championship yet. The same process has gone on at a lot of other ‘traditional powers’ like USC, Nebraska, Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, and now Michigan. Some have managed to extricate themselves from the mess, some have not. UW is hip-deep in it, and probably getting deeper.

I see that you don’t know any more about football than you do about politics.
You seem to be contending that the two years of probation with which the Huskies were punished all the way back in 1993 is the reason they are shitty today and have not improved more than one or so games a season since Tyrone Willingham tok over.
Somehow you forget that in 2000-2001 the Huskies went 11-1, won the Rose Bowl (with Tuiasosopo as MVP) and ranked #3 nationally. Yeah, it sounds like 1993 really wrecked rhis team, all right.
Admit that Tyrone Willingham has not succeeded. He has not materially improved this team in terms of winning games, and that’s the only reasonable and objective measure. It is how coaches are judged.
Naturally Republicans have no problem imagining both fictitious reasons for trouble and more success than is fact.

Hochuli will likely recieve a small fine, perhaps even be suspended a game. But fired? Unlikely. Besides, who wants to be the guy who tells him that? He’d better do it over the phone, and from the same bunker they hid Cheney in, because I wouldn’t want to tell him in person. Hochuli’s one muscular part-time referee. Yep, like all NFL refs, he’s got a day job, as a trial lawyer in Arizona. Once again, it brings up the bugaboo of the NFL being the only major sports league in the US that doesn’t have its officials/referees work full-time, solely as referees.
