The Young Turks discuss the tie between the Bengals and Eagles last week and how bizarre it was that Donovan McNabb was unaware that there are ties in the NFL:
Jason Whitlock tries to defend McNabb here, but I just can’t. I’m as big a Donovan McNabb fan as anyone, but that was a shockingly dumb admission – not just that he didn’t know there were ties, but to be so unembarrassed by that lack of knowledge that he admitted it on camera. How do you play in a professional sports league for so long and not know something like that? Has he never looked at the standings of the league and seen the ‘T’ next to the ‘W’ and ‘L’?
If it wasn’t for this, it would be the dumbest thing I’ve heard all season.
headless lucy spews:
Some people really do only play the game for the love of the game.
Geoduck spews:
I’ll admit it, I would have agreed with McNabb and thought you couldn’t get ties anymore, that they had overtime and/or sudden-death overtime until someone wins. But then, I’m only a moderately indifferent spectator, not a player..
sarge spews:
Trouble is, you play the game differently if you know it’s over at the end of the period. There was no urgency to score in McNabb’s mind. Of course that could have impacted the outcome of the game.
When I was 14, the local country club made me pass a rules test in order to be allowed on the course to play golf.
Don’t these guys get tested on the rules? How many other rules are McNabb, and others completely oblivious to?
Mr. Cynical spews:
McNabb got yanked from today’s game after throwing 2 dumbass interceptions.
He’s a has-been.
The only reason Whitlock defended McNabb’s stupidity is because they are both black.
Had McNabb been a white QB, Whitlock would have attacked him unmercifully.
Guess that makes Whitlock a……………racist!

Lee,
Just to let you know, I analyzed the Husky/Cougar/Your-government-at-work non-sequitur ten-days before Miller did over at Sound Politics.
The Piper

@5
So you thought of the same retarded thing a week before he did?
Congrats.
Rick D. spews:
Ummm Lee, I think Miller’s piece was satire and not meant to be taken seriously. Missing the humor gene are we? I believe his aim was to expose political zealots on both sides by writing it and sitting back and watching his theory become reality. He got the pavlovian response he was looking for.
Inre: McNabb being a dunderhead.
He’s just not that smart of a guy, obviously. Maybe Rush had it right all along.
