New York Alki

by Goldy — Tuesday, 10/13/15, 9:43 am

So, first there was this. And now, this:

Seattle City Council candidate Jon Grant claims the developer of a project across from City Hall tried to shake him down, and a text message sent to former Mayor Mike McGinn reveals some of what went on.

Grant says Brett Allen, a senior vice president at Triad Capital Partners, approached him at a Saturday campaign event and asked for help settling a lawsuit brought by Grant’s former employer.

Grant says he was told the payoff could be that a new political committee gearing up to spend heavily against him would go away.

On the one hand, I appreciate the way Seattle’s political establishment is attempting to make me—an expatriate of Philadelphia and New York’s corrupt political machines—feel right at home. But on the other hand, what the fuck?

It’s one thing to use the threat of a big independent expenditure campaign to intimidate a council candidate, but it’s another thing to preserve the details of that threat in a goddamn text message. That’s just incompetent. I mean, if Seattle’s cabal of downtown developers can’t even shake down a politician correctly, how can we trust them to properly develop downtown Seattle?

And the candidate who benefits the most from both of those scandals is Tim Burgess. Who won endorsement by 1 vote due to the unethical tactics orchestrated by Eastside for hire.

And of course this money goes directly against Burgess’s opponents.

Maybe Kshama was right to call out these Democrats for Nefarious actions that if done by Republicans would have people flipping out.

Just days ago you referred to Seattle as “squeaky clean”. I think a lot of people lack situational awareness in terms of just how dirty Seattle is.

Doesn’t this demonstrate how much harder the developer industry has to work to buy city government? Not only did the effort fail, but it will probably back fire. Before Seattle had districts it was a relatively simple, if somewhat expensive, thing to buy these candidates off.

At least twice, including the post you reference, Goldy has alluded to it. He knows where the Democrat bodies are buried or some shit like that, he’s written.

A journalist would share that information. A shill would do what Goldy instead chooses to do.

Tapper, perhaps. Might be a pretty good reason CNN isn’t using him tonite.

You did ask a really good question.

@1 I keep telling people the first thing lawyers do when they sue you is subpoena your emails, but preaching does no good and they keep putting their dirty laundry in emails. If you leave an electronic trail, you’re 100% guaranteed to have it read to you in court. That’s all I can say about it.

@3 You stupid humans are the same everywhere. Philadelphia, New York, Seattle — it makes no difference. You should step aside and let rabbits run things.

Not all rabbits are the same some come from the Briar Patch, some are March hares. Some are crazy rabbits: “Nah what’s up Doc.” Now he’d be home with them eastern big city politicians.
