Yesterday, I was watching President-elect Barack Obama’s first post-election press conference, when Will called, and I scolded him for interrupting me while I was watching “my President.” And I suddenly realized how long it’s been since I was able to utter the phrase “my President,” without throwing up in my mouth.
A historic election indeed.
How refreshing it is to have a guy hit the ground running with an economic team and the beginnings of a plan to clean up the Republican mess. For all of Clinton’s gifts and the good shape he left the country in, Clinton’s transition by contrast was a nightmare.
That said, Obama ran a grueling, relentless two year long campaign. He really needs to take a week or two off.
In our house Bush became “the President” or more commonly “THE moron”. As with you, Goldy, Barack Obama is “MY President”.
Lest any wingnut get excited, should Obama prove to be a total flop and failure and ignorant and stupid and say nuke-U-lar, he will become “the President” too.
I harbor no prejudice when it comes to presidents who fuck up.
I can watch my president(-elect) on TV without having to change the channel after a few seconds.

As the CFO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama will be our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off eight of our employees instead.
This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.
If you have a better idea, let me know.

Perhaps when you quote a story to make someone look corrupt or incompetent, you should read the whole story.
ABC (owned by Disney) hasn’t gone quite as far right as Fox, but I’ve noticed that their stories tend to support the conservative position, and can be misleading unless you read the whole story. Folks just reading the headline and first few paragraphs get a much different impression than those of us that read the whole thing.
Still, if we liberals want to avoid the kind of disasterous mistakes you conservatives made over the last eight years, we need someone to keep us on our toes.
