I just got back from a weekend away in the hinterlands of Washington state. Specifically, at a family cabin on the Natches River. It’s a nice place to visit, even if it’s “red”, in a political sense. I also get the chance to see where my transportation dollars are going. With just about 18% of the state’s population, the east side gets 22% of the transportation dollars. I don’t mind, I just wish they’d stop complaining so much.
In the 14th legislative district, Curtis King is challenging Sen. Jim Clements. He’s attacking Clements for doing liberal things. You know, investing in health care, school funding reform. While Sen. Clements is no liberal, he’s maybe a little better than Curtis King in my eyes.
That said, if I were a Yakima area GOP activist, I’d be for Curtis King. He’s the real deal. Clements has the orchardists on his side, along with Dino Rossi’s endorsement. King is fighting an uphill battle against powerful special interests. The GOP isn’t going to get back in the majority by playing along with Senate Democrats. I say: fight on!

Those damn liberals! They want to give my kids health care, and an education. Damn them.
Those liberals got to go. Rush Limbaw sez so. Rush is a man who knows how to vacation. Take a super-sized bottle of Viagra to some 3rd world country, and see if you can find some action!

Most of my family lives in Eastern Washington. All those people that call themselves Republicons, but when you want to talk politics, they want to change the subject.
Deep down inside, they know they are dead wrong on almost every issue, but are too proud to admit it. They sure don’t want to talk about it.
All I hear is welfare, welfare, and more about welfare. I think they are starting to believe me when I tell them the only welfare we have left is corporate welfare. For every penny a poor family gets, a corporation gets $1,000. They give Chevron $50 in welfare every time they fill up their pickups.
Ain’t America great!

Fine with me if we let the folks in eastern WA form their own state. Who needs em? They’re a bunch of right wing rednecks as far as I’m concerned. My brother in law lives over there – listens to right wing hate radio 24.7. Constantly spouts off about the “war on terror.” But funny thing is, his 20 and 21 year old kids haven’t gone anywhere near a recruitings station. Typical.

I noticed the Republicans tend to be a little thin when it comes to actually serving in the military. Too bad. Maybe if they have some first-hand experience with the military, they wouldn’t be so inclined to mis-use the forces.

My dad and all but one of my uncles (and I have lots of uncles) served in the military during the Korean or Vietnam wars. All are are in the center or to the left of the political spectrum. The idea that the left hates the military or doesn’t know about military issues is a load of crap.

#6 Daddy, they are talking about poor white people. There are no or very few blacks in eastern wa, and they are talking about the folks they know are getting checks, and staying home. I can’t say I disagree with them. I think the safety net should be there, but if you need gov assistance, you have to go to work cleaning parks, picking up trash, doing block watches, tutoring, or working in day care centers to pay the gov back. No one should get a free ride off my tax dollars. And by the way, if you are on welfare, any more kids and your check will shrink.
Call me what you want.
