I’m not sure why the left has such an obsession with CEO pay. The CEO of Walmart, H Lee Scott Jr, makes $5.3 million in salary and bonuses. His total compensation was $10.46 million in 2005. If he were to give up this entire amount and pass it onto the 1.6 million employees of Walmart they’d each get a check for $6.54, or about 40 minutes worth of effort at their average of $9.68 per hour wage.

I don’t think MWS understands really those terms. He probably read somewhere the mostly empty conservative characterizations of liberals as socialists/communists/Maoists (Mike “Savage”)/etc. A little bit of reading into the cultural history of theearly twentieth century might show the communist allegation to have been at least somewhat true at that time amongst a certain part of the population (artists and intellectuals of the 1920s come to mind instantly, as Marxist communism was given greater credence by many such individuals in the era before Stalin). But I suspect that MWS is just throwing rhetorical spaghetti at the wall, and hoping that something might stick.

I don’t know anything about this group, so I don’t know if they are non-partison or not. I haven’t checked out the link (I’m a bit busy today0. But two things spring to mind from your post:
1. You said the survey was of MSM Network News (i.e., ABC, CBS, NBC, presumably). Does this exclude cable TV news channels, such as CNN and FOX news? If so, I would expect the results to be quite different if FOX news was included.
2. Why is 2002 excluded? Of course, there may be a good (impartial) reason, but since that was the year following the 9/11 attacks and the “rally around the President” effect, I would expect figures for that year to be higher.
3. Of course, a “negative” news story is not necessarily evidence of bias. It could be that Bush & Co. just screw up at least 60% to 75% of the time, and the reporting accurately reflected that fact. It can be just as biased for a news outlet to falsly emphasize favorable news (i.e., FOX News).
