You are not guilty of “underestimating” Donald Trump.
You are guilty of overestimating Republicans and conservatives.
That has been true since 2015.
We all assumed in 2015 and early 2016 that Trump could not win the nomination. After the convention we all assumed that Trump could not defeat Hillary Clinton. We were wrong.
But we were not wrong about Trump.
We were wrong about Republicans.
We were wrong to assume that Republican base voters would never nominate an ignorant, incompetent, self-deluded, crude pig of a man who brags about his adolescent daughter’s breasts and cheats on his spouses with porn stars.
And we were wrong to assume that moderate, mainstream Republican voters would ever hold their noses and vote in large numbers for a nominee who bragged to a busload of total strangers about his many great successes at sexual assault.
But we were never wrong about Trump himself. We never underestimated him. That may not be possible.
But we are now once again possibly overestimating Republicans and Trump.
They will do their worst.
They will be their worst.
But they will also fuck up and ruin their own best chances just as they have consistently done before. All we have to do is see that clearly and prepare accordingly. All we have to do is stop hoping for or counting on “the pivot” from insanity to reason.
There is no pivot.
There will be no pivot.
Both Trump and Republicans will get worse.
And if enough of us just realize that in time then they will lose.

Elijah Dominic McFuckheadspews:
11,
Fact is we ignored the polling with respect to the Republican primary.
By now it has been adequately explained to this profoundly stupid trust fund troll that pre and early primary polling of freak shit, hysterical, liver-spotted land line phones of gun humping, evango-fascist Republican base voters is considerably more predictive of primary election outcomes than nationwide surveys of non-voters and voters alike are in predicting general elections that ultimately depend upon six or fewer swing states.
The folks who will determine the outcome of the general election this fall are not hanging with Caribou Barbie and The Nuuuge in a campground in Texas.
But ever since MAGAmurica gunned up and carried out a terrorist attack on Congress to “Hang Mike Pence” at least we can all see MAGAmurica a lot more clearly today than we could in 2016. We were wrong then. Obviously.
The strength of character and the internal resource that rejecting Trump The Racist would require of Republicans is clearly far more than they are capable of. But that does not make him a more capable or more competent politician than he ever was.

Despite Republican declarations of their determination to keep the border open, maintain their Republican Border Crisis, and snuff the legislation heading their way from the Senate, I think it will remain an open question whether or not MAGA Mike can perform his duty to Trump by pulling together the numerical majority required to defeat the bill. Keep in mind that as of this moment Mike Johnson has been unable to pass even a single piece of remotely important legislation without having to rely on Democrats for the majority of yes votes. In effect, other than ceremonially, Hakim Jeffries has held control of the House.
Schumer appears to have enough votes in the Senate to move the bill through each procedural vote to reach the Enrollment Clerk and be sent to the House. At that point in order for ultra MAGA House Republicans to obey Trump’s commands and keep the border open they would have to demonstrate a degree of party discipline that has not existed in their ranks since Paul Ryan started growing his retirement beard.

@1 Yeah, look at Tesla go! If this keeps us, pretty soon TSLA stock will be worth what it’s actually worth, which on a P/E basis is about half of its present market value.
Here’s what a lot of people don’t understand about Tesla (I’ll skip over the shitty-cars bit, which is covered by @1 above, and focus on the fundamentals). First, Tesla isn’t the market leader in EVs, a Chinese brand is. Second, as more EVs enter the market, Tesla’s main competitive advantage is its outsized profit margin, which enables it to keep ahead of the competition by cutting prices more than they can. This is great for market share, but crap for the bottom line, and it’s the latter that drives stock price.
There’s a real opportunity here for Doctor Dumbfuck, though, if he shorts the stock. Because this overvalued monster whose greatest competitive advantage is its ability to keep cutting prices and shrinking its profit margin is more likely to trend down than up.

Second, as more EVs enter the market, Tesla’s main competitive advantage is its outsized profit margin, which enables it to keep ahead of the competition by cutting prices more than they can.
And then there’s that part about Tesla not losing $36,000 on each and every electric vehicle it manufactures, but as long as there’s free money paid to other companies to reimburse their losses by burdening Queen YLB’s fucked kids with higher taxes and deficits, losses aren’t even a real thing.

In the last six months Tesla has lost 28% of it’s market capitalization as price cuts have taken a toll on profitability, reliability is becoming a huge issue for them for customer retention AND the face of the company is rapidly becoming unmasked as an unhinged fascist.
But do tell, what did Motley fool think of the company in February of 23?
You probably don’t want to read any internet forums by cybertruck early adopters.
Just picked up my Cybertruck today. The advisor specifically mentioned the cybertrucks develop orange rust marks in the rain and that required the vehicle to be buffed out. I know I heard the story of never take out your Delorean in the rain but I just never read anything about rust and Cybertrucks. All in all smooth delivery. The first 10 min of driving, the vehicle was pulling hard to the right…I turned around and went back to the service center thinking there was an issue. They scheduled me to a different service center near where I live but after putting on some more miles the pull went away.
..
If you were wondering if the Tesla Cybertruck’s wheel covers would cause problems, well, that’s apparently the case. According to a video on the T Sportline – Tesla Upgrades & Accessories YouTube channel, the aero cover that extends beyond the wheel is digging into the sidewall of the Cybertruck’s tire.
Any damage to a tire’s sidewall is not ideal. The sidewall is the most fragile part of the tire, and any puncture in a passenger car’s sidewall is effectively a death sentence for that tire. This video suggests the chafing from this wheel cover may not directly puncture the sidewall, and it could take tens of thousands of miles to do any serious damage. Still, any sidewall damage should be inspected by a professional.
…
I got 208 miles of average range with full charge in the first three weeks. (eds note, TESLA marketed 340miles)

Wednesday Roger pointed out how Trump The Rapist’s poll obsession led him to fire another lawyer. I reminded everyone how many times we’ve dismissed the troll’s (and Trump’s) “favorability” poll obsession. So next the snowflake troll time traveled to October to find a polling safe space, before doubling down on generic swing state polling and doing another naked national “favorability” polling endzone dance. I followed up remiding the fuckup troll that national polls are bullshit in a Presidential contest decided in six states. And Roger closed out Thursday with a poll showing a very high percentage of committed Republican voters who declare their refusal to vote for a nominee who has been convicted.
Friday Daryll posted another shit poll for Congresswoman Theater Handjob.

@16 (From the linked article): “A big slice of white boomers are now living on hate. They hate nearly everything and everybody — even Disney and Taylor Swift! — because Trump and MAGA and Fox News have told them to. They hate books, vaccines, colleges, unions, corporations, cities, Hollywood, Broadway, the NBA and the NFL, Black people, brown people, and of course immigrants.”
Somewhat true, but their generation was always a mixed lot. After Nixon instituted the draft lottery and they realized they wouldn’t be drafted, they turned away from antiwar protests to selfish pursuits. In the ’80s and ’90s, many of the so-called Woodstock generation became yuppies. Ex-hippies, who’d always been on the lookout for free rides (and free sex), were among the most materialistic and self-centered. If you look closely look at the Capitol riot photos and videos, there are very few people in their 60s and 70s in that mob; most were in their 30s and 40s. Looking at voting data, there’s not a terribly strong age-group correlation; race and income are stronger determinants of voting behavior. It’s really the evangelicals, gun-waving young white males, and always-Republican white male boomers who form the core of Trump’s voting base.

The Tesla Cybertruck lacks basic off-roading features https://www.themanual.com/auto/tesla-cybertruck-vs-subaru-crosstrek/
The Cybertruck has been overshadowed by a vehicle that costs around half its price.
Over the past few months, social media has been awash with images of Cybertrucks stranded in snowbanks with no hope of rescue. Other areas where the Cybertruck has failed to live up to the hype include range, with no 500-mile version currently available, price, and payload. The original Cybertruck was supposed to be cheap, as in closer to a Subaru Crosstrek than a fully specced-out Dodge RAM. That price steadily climbed while the payload dwindled to 2,500 pounds from the originally quoted 3,500 pounds. The towing capacity also dropped by around 3,000 pounds between the truck’s announcement and launch.

The very intentional decision made by the racist Aurora cops to ignore the very obvious discrepancy in the hot sheet information, a decision that these fucking geniuses were kind enough to record and document for posterity and for purposes of liability, is what led to the city’s motion for dismissal being laughed at by the court and is what precisely deprived them of otherwise normal immunity from such claims.
Cops make plenty of honest mistakes. Too many considering how much money we piss away on them. But you still can’t sue police for making honest mistakes in carrying out their nominal official duties. You don’t get your day in court. Not at all.
It’s only when they go rogue, as these cops did, and intentionally ignore their duty, their training, and the information clearly available to them, and instead go on an authority-fueled wilding spree beating up citizens in order to “teach them respect” that you can sue their asses off. And it’s just about the only time you can.
As soon as the state court rejected the city’s motion for dismissal and the case was finally scheduled for trial the team representing the city’s liability insurer got down to business to sincerely negotiate a settlement.

This article says the cops even tried to handcuff the 6-year-old, but couldn’t because the cuffs were too big for her small wrists. Was the dispatcher responsible for that?
Virtually all the articles mention racial profiling. Who was responsible for that, the dispatcher or the cops?
Maybe you should read the piece(s) before popping off, mmm?
This article says the police chief offered “to cover the cost of providing age-appropriate therapy to the children.” Well, $1.9 million pays for a lot of therapy.

I sincerely hope they don’t.
Because in order to do so they would have to grant cert, set a calendar for briefing, set a calendar for oral, set a calendar for deliberations, and then publish a ruling. And all of that would probably push the trial into June.
And there’s no real compelling judicial interest in that.
The circuit court ruling binds in the only circuit of relevance to this specific case and to all similarly situated cases. Let that ruling stand as the precedent and let Trump littigate his claims to criminal immunity in the other circuits. If at some future point one of those other criminal immunity claims results in an appeal then let the SCOTUS set binding precedent where it is most ripe and appropriate.
US Con Fraud cases involving a former President would all come before the DC District lying within the DC circuit. So there is no need for the SCOTUS to further delay justice in this case. There is no wider claim to immunity in front of the court in this case. If they agree with the circuit they should let the circuit court ruling stand and do it’s work as intended.

Since the 1960s a considerable portion of the taxdollars we give away to police agencies have been squandered on outreach to motion picture, television, and other media producers in a not-so-secret effort to control the narrative about who police are and what kind of work they do. Consequently very few law abiding adults have any realistic idea about just how terrible US policing really is.
And sadly, even on the rare occaisions that their incompetence and misconduct rises to such an egregious level that it is worthy of documentary production, it can only be commercially viable if the victims of that incompetence are attractive, white, and blonde. It’s likely that Denise Huskins was raped at least a dozen times while Vallejo detectives willfully ignored the evidence they already had simply in order to continue targeting her boyfriend.

A couple days ago Doctor Dumbfuck blamed the 737 MAX door plug blowout on union workers at Boeing’s Renton plant.
Today ABC News reported that “Boeing records reviewed by the NTSB showed that damaged rivets on the edge frame forward of the plug were replaced by Spirit AeroSystems employees at Boeing’s factory in Renton, Washington.”
NTSB’s report also says the bolts were missing, i.e. not replaced. NPR says, “The report does not say who was responsible for the failure to ensure the bolts were reinstalled.” But it’s at least 50-50 that the Boeing workers Doctor Dumbfuck accused of negligence are innocent, like a lot of other people he accuses.
Boeing’s CEO has said Boeing “takes responsibility,” which sounds like blaming union workers even if they had nothing to do with this. In which case he and Doctor Dumbfuck are two peas from the same pod.
So we DON’T KNOW whether Boeing or Spirit employees failed to reinstall the bolts. Neither does Doctor Dumbfuck. He just ASS U MEs it was Boeing union workers so he can hate on unions. Dumbfucks like doc ASS U ME a lot of things, because they’re too stupid to separate fact and fancy.

105
Elijah Dominic McFuckheadspews:
@101,
rather than generalizations about precisely which company left out the safety bolts, a better question is how.
How the fuck are bolts like these left out?
Under normal circumstances, the presence and assembly of critical safety fasteners like these are rigorously accounted for with engineering systems designed to eliminate the potential for “accidental” oversight.
At this point the analysis has to move beyond where the bolts got left off and focus on how. Once the SpirtAero hole drilling fuckup was identified that necessitated the subsequent removal of the plug panel, precisely what procedures were developed and implemented to fix that fuckup, by whom were those procedures developed and implemented, and finally how was it possible to adhere to those procedures without catching the mistake?
There’s actually a pretty well developed engineering science behind how these kinds of critical safety elements of manufacturing are developed. It should surprise no one that this science comes into play in many realms of product failure littigation. Even in unexpected areas. Like deadly Jack in the Box hamburgers, for example (h/t Bill Marler, Marler Clark). Was that science and that methodology followed? If not, why not? If a decision was made to bypass those methods who made that decision?
These fucking four lousy bolts should have been counted, inventoried, and checked off as they were removed, stored, and re-installed. And the procedure for each of those steps whould have required proof of completion with a record to accompany it. By this point NTSB investigators should have been able to pull records and see where at least one certified person entered a record that they had carried out the required step, and at least one other certified person had verified the completion of that step. And those steps would have included ascertaining the chain of custody for those goddam bolts right up to the moment that they are returned to where they belong securing the fucking panel.
Somebody is lying. Bigly.
And I for one would not resume normal confidence in Boeing until those lies are discovered and exposed.

A tied vote meant the effort would fail, so Democrats began shouting ‘Order!’ at Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to drop the gavel and end it.
“Republicans were furiously prodding Gallagher to change his vote, but he wouldn’t. At the last minute, Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah) voted no, not because he opposed the measure but because it would allow the House to bring it back up again another day. That bumped the final tally to 214-216.”
The GOP’s standalone Israel aid bill failed in the House, too.

“‘Following Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, we made this decision with the journal’s editor because of undeclared conflicts of interest and after expert reviewers found that the studies demonstrate a lack of scientific rigor that invalidates or renders unreliable the authors’ conclusions,’ Sage said in the statement.”

[During] President Trump’s 2021 impeachment proceedings for incitement of insurrection, his counsel argued that instead of post-Presidency impeachment, the appropriate vehicle for “investigation, prosecution, and punishment” is “the article III courts,” as “[w]e have a judicial process” and “an investigative process . . . to which no former officeholder is immune.”
I’d run and hide, too, after twin fiascos like these. But perhaps we should take pity on him. As a three-term congressman, he’s a relative novice in the ways of the House. We were wrong about Republicans.
We were wrong to assume that Republican base voters would never nominate an ignorant, incompetent, self-deluded, crude pig of a man who brags about his adolescent daughter’s breasts and cheats on his spouses with porn stars.

And then there’s that part about Tesla not losing $36,000 on each and every electric vehicle it manufactures, but as long as there’s free money paid to other companies to reimburse their losses by burdening Queen YLB’s fucked kids with higher taxes and deficits, losses aren’t even a real thing.
Except, of course, to Queen YLB’s fucked kids.

When you have to quote without citing a year old Motley Fool analysis to cheer Tesla.
You probably don’t want to read any internet forums by cybertruck early adopters.

Monday Roger pointed to shit polling for Boebert and shit polling for House Republicans on their Republican Border Crisis.
Wednesday Roger pointed out how Trump The Rapist’s poll obsession led him to fire another lawyer. The fuckup profoundly stupid trust fund troll went crazy in response bitching about how polls mean nothing, and of course missed the point.

We’ve all here finally realized not only what a shrinking coward pansy the troll is, but we’ve also realized that he’s insane. We just come to point and laugh now. For all practical purposes engaging the troll in any kind of direct debate is as pointless as trying to engage the soiled, shrieking, subway lunatic stuffing his own shit into his mouth while proclaiming himself God Almighty. The profoundly stupid trust fund troll has not offered one single good faith argument in favor of any Republican in years now. Subconsciously he surely realizes that he can’t.

And for whatever success I’ve enjoyed I certainly owe some gratitude to the profoundly stupid trust fund troll. @16 (From the linked article): “A big slice of white boomers are now living on hate.

Their willing agreement, without trial, to pay $2 million for lying on hot pavement tells us everything we need to know about how badly these racist asshole cops went off on this Black family.

Virtually all the articles mention racial profiling. Who was responsible for that, the dispatcher or the cops?

So shitty it’s almost entertaining.

If we don’t allow parents who are given multiple warnings from the school that their kid has violent ideation and is making threats to staff and students to buy their kid a firearm, store it where they can access it at any time then we are one step away from them taking away ALL our guns.
This ruling is a travesty of justice. The radical left doesn’t care about keeping kids safe or they would applaud a mom giving their underaged kid a firearm for protection.
Give us money. We’re almost bankrupt and fighting for a rootin’ tootin. gun shootin’ America.

Compare and contrast.
$83 million for being called a liar by your rapist.
$2.5 million for being held in a dirty basement storage room and being repeatedly raped while police ignore the clear information they have that would lead them to your kidnappers but instead embark on a bizarre campaign to label you and your boyfriend “insane”.
Consider the media source you link continued to refer to the case using the word “hoax”, even after the verdict.
Huskins’ direct, compensatory defamation damages are worth at least as much as E. Jean Carrolls. And her punitive damages should be ten times greater. That insurance pool should be bankrupted. Their insured spent those two days while she was being raped calling her a lying, attention seeking “Gone Girl” to every local and national media outlet they could reach. They put more effort into defaming Huskins and her boyfriend than they ever put into finding her. That intentional effort to falsely destroy the reputation and credibility Huskins and Quinn far surpassed any of Trump The Rapists false statements about E. Jean Carroll.

Elijah Dominic McFuckhead spews:
@101,
rather than generalizations about precisely which company left out the safety bolts, a better question is how.

“The vote was incredibly dramatic. It was tied 215 to 215 for several minutes, with every Democrat voting no along with three Republicans: Reps. Ken Buck (Colo.), Tom McClintock (Calif.) and Mike Gallagher (Wis.).

Abortion Pill Studies Used By Texas Judge Blow Up In His Face
“Two studies cited by plaintiffs and a federal judge in Texas that purported to show the harms of the common abortion pill mifepristone have been retracted by the publisher of the scientific journal they first appeared in.
“Sage Publications said it retracted three studies about mifepristone, two of which were cited heavily by Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk last year when he sided with a group of anti-abortion physicians and revoked the Food and Drug Administration’s two decade-old approval of the pill. … Sage said the authors of the articles had undeclared conflicts of interest and used unreliable methodologies to misrepresent their conclusions.

I’d run and hide, too, after twin fiascos like these. But perhaps we should take pity on him. As a three-term congressman, he’s a relative novice in the ways of the House. For example, he hasn’t learned how to count votes yet, or rally his caucus. Most Speakers of the past were seasoned veterans who had mastered these skills. This was like some guy who watches boxing matches from barstools climbing into a ring with Mike Tyson, or a guy with a “12th Man” flag on his pickup running out onto the Superbowl field without a helmet.
