The brushing aside of constitutional rights by Republicans across the board warrants paying intense attention to. Trump is making it clear the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments won’t impede his planned Revenge Tour. And even though the 18-year-old vote is enshrined in the Constitution, Ramaswamy is proposing doing away with it without ever acknowledging any need to amend the Constitution to do so. Other examples abound.
When you couple that with the behavior we saw surrounding the 2020 election, the conclusion is inescapable that Republicans in general have no intention of being contained by laws or rights; there’s very clear signaling that in the future they’re going to operate on the basis of raw power, and brush aside any laws or rights that get in their way.
It’s basically the same basis on which 20th-century communist revolutionaries operated, and we have no guarantees that Republicans wouldn’t engage in the same mass enslavement and slaughter if they acquire similar absolute power. They certainly talk like they want to.

Overall, he’s done a masterful job (especially in foreign policy), demonstrating the savvy that comes from 50 years of experience in politics. Yet, inexplicably, the public rates him lower than Trump, a total incompetent, if you believe the polls (of which I’m skeptical).
What, exactly, qualifies Michelle Obama for the presidency? She’s never held office. Her political experience is secondhand, albeit at close quarters. She’s not a policy wonk who would bring exceptional relevant knowledge to the job. All she really has to offer is name familiarity and her profile as a black woman with a pleasing personality. And the good sense to debunk the notion that she’s interested or sees herself as a candidate.
Where am I going with this? The obvious place: It’s crazy that so much of the public judges potential presidential candidates by superficial criteria instead of their ability to do the job, and inexcusable that the media plays up meaningless tropes while underreporting actual performance in office. This is not a good path to be going down. And we already know voters are capable of taking that path; they elected a TV reality star with zero political experience or governing ability to the nation’s highest office and seem prepared to do so again.
Democracy only works and endures if the people don’t blow it up with their bad choices.

Even if lenders, underwriters, and direct business partners are “in on the lying” as Trump claims in this case, even if “everybody who matters knows” that Trump lies about his wealth, and the value of the things he owns, it still puts others at considerable risk.
Employees, vendors, and all kinds of businesses and services just one or two steps removed from these fraudulent lending statements are directly and materially affected by the underlying falsehood. Lives are ruined. Families destroyed. Businesses are driven into failure. Because of these kinds of lies by corrupt Republican business people like Trump.
The defense being offered here by Republicans like Trump and the Crybaby ask us to ignore all that and simply concede that “the little people” who get truly fucked over by these completely fraudulent, falsely valued enterprises are unworthy of the law’s protections. But America has seen enough of that carnage in the last two decades to know better. It may be Republican orthodoxy to let The Masters of the Universe tell each other whatever lies they need to make their pump-and-dump fraud schemes succeed. But no criminal investigation of Senator Franken ever materialized and most of the accusations targeting him remain anonymous and unsubstantiated to this day.
Senator Menendez by comparison is criminally indicted on very serious charges of corruption for which there is substantial evidence. The indictment was filed Friday and the statement from Schumer was released the same day. Given the history, it is perfectly reasonable for the Majority Leader to allow some of the process to play out and for him to engage with other members of the Senate, with leaders from New Jersey, and with Senator Menendez before he goes any further.
It took Cory “Spartacus” Booker so long to condemn Menendez you’d think he has a different definition of criminal than everyone else.

It’s also worthwhile to remember how this whole dick-measuring business got started. I never bragged about my stock market winnings; rather, I compared them to workers’ wages to show how absurd and unfair American capitalism’s distribution of wealth between capital and labor is. My intent was, and is, to mock a system that allows someone who does no work, and produces nothing, to get 10 or 20 times as much of that nation’s economic output as the worker who produces that wealth.
This strikes a nerve with Republicans like Doctor Dumbfuck who are the main beneficiaries of that system, and fear like hell that someone might question it. And his lying and denial about my success in exploiting that system — which anyone can do — reveals just how sensitive he is about its inherent unfairness. Witness, for example, his faux outrage when a fast-food worker gets a raise from $9 to $10 an hour.

As for me, stock investing is just a hobby, and while it’s a nice feeling to have seven-figure savings socked away, I don’t spend it and don’t expect to ever need it, and it wouldn’t bother me very much if it all went away. A paper decline in one or two of my stocks certainly doesn’t bother me as much as it excites Doctor Dumbfuck. We have different attitudes toward money and different psychologies.
What I really want to happen is for this correction to keep going so I can buy stock that isn’t overvalued and get better dividend yields.
Generac, of course, is a casino bet. I paid $98 a share for 100 shares of a stock that a year earlier was trading for $500 a share for the same reason I occasionally spend $1 on a lottery ticket. It’s far less than 1% of my portfolio and I can afford to lose the whole sum, although that’s unlikely. More likely I’d lose a few hundred dollars, although right now, after several days of GOP Shitdown Selloff, I’m still up $500 on that bet.
