Not directly, no. But he’s responsible for appointing the Treasury Secretary who now claims she didn’t stand in the way of his wild spending a year ago and who now admits she was wrong about inflation.
And he reappointed the Fed chairman who oversaw excessively permissive monetary policy for far too long.
He’s responsible for the damage done to our relationships with our allies when he abandoned Afghanistan and left them to their own devices in order to get their people out, and they now understand that there is no reason to trust his economic leadership if his global defense leadership cannot be trusted. Would Biden defend the Hormuz strait if Iran tried to close it? After his incompetence and dismissive posture WRT Afghanistan, why should any nation believe Biden if he says he would? That’s a risk to oil supply and helps drive up oil prices.

Trump’s final year in office was the worst U.S. economy since WWII.
Nevertheless, Trump’s loss in the electoral college came down to three states with margins of 0.63%, 0.31%, and 0.24%.
Despite historically cratering the growth and jobs economy that he inherited from a Democrat, being twice impeached, and openly bragging about being a serial rapist, Trump came within a gnat’s butt hair of winning. So close that he still refuses to admit that he lost. So close that his party and supporters tried to overturn the election, and almost pulled it off.
It might be time to consider whether or not “conventional” analysis of elections and voting really even works much anymore.
In 2016 Hillary Clinton lost in large part because she carefully listened to conventional analysts and advisors. Trump won in large part because he completely ignored them. Ron Johnson wouldn’t be wrong to spend the next five months relentlessly reminding voters in Wisconsin that gas today is more expensive than it was when he and Trump cratered the economy a few years ago. But it’s hardly clear that alone will be enough.
People are mad that gas is more expensive, that their vacation plans got messed up because of flight cancellations, and that the lines are a bit longer at the drive through. And they want their government to fix the broken shit faster. But they haven’t forgotten who broke it.

This claim is almost entirely incorrect.
1. Her campaign manager was Robby Mook. Robby Mook used a very unconventional approach to her campaign. This was probably the biggest reason for her loss.
John Podesta wanted to fire Robby Mook’s ass. #CrookedHillary wouldn’t let him. Had she actually “carefully listened to conventional … advisor
s” John Podesta, Mook would have been gone and there would not be Associate Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett, QoS McHillbilly.2. #CrookedHillary was the second-most disliked presidential candidate since pollsters began asking the question.
3. As a major party presumptive nominee #CrookedHillary was the subject of a criminal investigation by the FBI, and she may have benefitted by the misdeed of AG Loretta Lynch, who met in private with her husband and whose staff tried to cover it up.
4. Secret State Department files were stored by #CrookedHillary’s personal assistant on the laptop of a pedophile who had a history of sexual indiscretions, and this information became public very shortly before the election.
Need I go on?
Conventional campaigning. tells you to actually show up in battleground states like Wisconsin and in Michigan’s Macomb County. #CrookedHillary couldn’t be bothered.

And even with 8%-plus inflation readings, he took his sweet time to end QE, is still twiddling his thumbs on raising interest rates, and hasn’t even begun working down the Fed’s balance sheet yet.
If you want to bring gas prices down, you’ve got to get people out of gas guzzlers, something Republicans don’t want to give up. And flight cancellations are due to business travelers flocking aboard planes during a pilot shortage; maybe this isn’t the time for optional leisure travel? It was a replacement bill, not largely new spending. You understand the difference, don’t you, Princess?
Some points:
• Biden’s proposed bill was only $715 billion. Democrats substituted a more expensive one. Biden could have vetoed it, or muscled Democrats back to his price point, but he didn’t.
• The signed bill was 5% more than the spending it replaced. We’re in an inflation environment of 8+%. An argument could be made that the defense bill came in below the rate of inflation, YLB.

That’s pretty easy, actually. I guess it’s understandable that in the shock that followed Trump’s win, media professionals, including the ones that Degen obviously depends upon for his “thinking”, were desperate to find the explanation for how they could have been so wrong. Blame “That Bitch” works.
But in fact, if you believe, in a very fundamental way, that you win elections by persuading a group of people who might or might not support your candidate, to decide to vote for your candidate then you might go to Arizona or Georgia. Persuasion is a very complex, multi-variant problem that can be incredibly hard to plan and predict. Some people absolutely live for it. And of course, the traditional media depend upon it.
For example, in Arizona you have some influential (remember: persuasion) Republicans, Democrats, and independents who your polling indicates have a substantial influence over the people your data tells you are open to your persuasion. How can you nudge John McCain further away from Trump? Can you close the deal on McCain in the final weeks? How many numbers would that move in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania? Their polling indicated it was a huge deal. And they really believed that McCain was within reach. Maybe they couldn’t win the “Maverick” endorsement. But could they push him to be more outspoken in his opposition to Trump?
In the end, what we actually learned about the “moderate independent”, “fiscally conservative/socially liberal” voters, who Podesta believed could be persuaded, is that they really don’t exist at all, and certainly not in large enough numbers to make much of a difference. But this is incredibly conventional electoral analysis.
But nobody who draws a salary from TeeVee or depends upon huge broadcast and local television media buys to keep the lights on, wants to admit that persuasion doesn’t work very well anymore. Nor do the campaign managers and media consultants who take a nice slice of that spending.

We started this odyssey with the poor pathetic thing needing to find a way to keep TEH INFLATION!!!!! alive. Again, it’s very clear from quite a few recent elections that there just simply is not some amorphous mob of EEN-DEE-PEN-DUCNE voters smeared across the American electoral map who can be reliably beckoned one way or another in each election. And even if that were still true (and it isn’t) then it’s also very clear that a president’s economic performance is not that persuasive. Trump gave them the worst economy ever. And damn near every fucking single one of them voted for him anyway. It’s in the voter file data. Trump increased his turnout, despite killing a million of them and shitting all over their retirement economy. Biden won by turning out educated white women and turning out non-whites. Nobody gave a fuck about 18% unemployment. Not when it came to deciding who to vote for.
So what? Now we need to forget about TEH INFLATION!!!! and bitch about Clinton’s “elitist” arrogance?

One way that matters a lot is probably how Boomers aren’t as large a component of the electorate. It should be pretty reliable that younger voters will STAND DOWN during a midterm. But young voters just aren’t cooperating like they used to. So with the Boomer component shrinking and younger voters increasing their share, even in midterms, it changes how people respond to issues, if they respond at all. Biden and Democrats have struggled to grasp this shit. But there are signs it’s beginning to sink in:

I said pretty much the same thing when kreepshit crowed about higher gas prices in 2012… babbling Obama would be the next Jimmeh Caahtaa..
I said people had adjusted. It won’t matter nearly as much.
November 2012 was sweet indeed.. It was reduced to praising the D party…

44% of Republicans believe their freedom to own guns requires us to accept mass shootings as part of our daily lives.

So more than half of Republicans are ready for change.
Ron Johnson not getting that memo.

17)Herbert Hoover had some redeeming values, I believe he managed relief aid for Belgium and Europe in WWI, and again after WWII.

June 6, 1889, Great Fire destroys much of Downtown Seattle. Several months plater, the Volunteer Fire Department was replaced with the professional force. Although I doubt in 1889 anybody would foresee that the majority of calls, even for engine companies, would be aid response calls.
EvergreenRailfan spews:
Also, as a result of the Great Fire, was the formation of what became Seattle Public Utilities. Tge privately owned waterworks were bought out, and bigger mains and more hydrants were added. To protect the Water Department, the SFD now maintains a wildfire firefighting unit, although that call might take awhile, as Laurelhurst is a little far away from Tolt and Cedar Rivers.

Hoover certainly didn’t spend every single weekend of his presidency golfing at taxpayer expense like Trump. Trump napped, golfed, and yelled at his televisions while 1 million of us suffocated alone on a vent with broke teeth.
Hoover did not golf.

“This is a war of resources.” Interesting video explains Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and his previous wars. I don’t know what this YouTuber’s credentials are, or if he has any, but he seems to pull it all together into a coherent explanation that makes a lot of sense.

Yup. And right after he yelled, “he shot my hand off, he shot my hand off”, he sashayed away, after wrapping his pink boa around his neck, swaying exaggeratively his hips from side to side and his right hand high in the air bent at 90 degrees.

81,
Bear in mind that Garland and the USAO DC face a very daunting task for any state prosecutor in these cases. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating that given the sharp political divide in the U.S. and the extreme partisanship from Republicans concerning the law enforcement response to this terror attack, there is almost no room for any sort of prosecutorial error. And so far Garland and the USAO DC have met that challenge. They are batting 1.000. And though Republican declarations that the investigation and prosecutions are “political”, the team continues to win indictments, guilty pleas, convictions, and sentences against every defendant, without any hint of bias, favor, or misconduct. It’s very clear that the President and the Attorney General consider that to be a requirement of this process. And so far they’ve pulled it off.
So this marks the first criminal indictment against high profile, politically connected participants in the terror attack. And besides preparing the prosecution with great care, the team probably also intended to send a message about the overall investigation to the public. The charge is a conspiracy to overthrow the government by force. It’s a very serious criminal charge with sweeping and acute implications. It is only the second time we see the USAO DC lay out their theory of the larger crime that might involve members of Congress, the White House, and the Trump campaign.
As before, they begin with the lowest hanging fruit, hoping to ladder the prosecutions up the chain of authority exactly like a complex organized crime case. Tarrio is a known federal cooperator who has betrayed his co-conspirators in the past. And previous investigations into the PB “leadership” have shown that they are fractured with jealousy and resentment. And with a much higher media profile and with more open political associations, the PB prosecutions have the potential at least to be more fruitful than the Oathkeepers.
It’s still early days, really. And I’m not yet aware of evidence tying high ranking officials to either the PB conspiracy or the Oathkeeper conspiracy. But the good news is it’s now a second felony based front opened up against the organizers and sponsors of the terror attack. Depending on what develops with each of these, it’s very solid ground for Garland to name a special prosecutor to carry these conspiracy investigations forward whenever it suits him and the needs of justice. And each successful prosecution and subsequent indictment moves a hypothetical “President DeSantis” further and further away from any hope of firing that special prosecutor.
