They arbitrarily changed practices through Executive Orders that further burdened, delayed, and terminated legal proceedings in asylum applications. The result was the total breakdown of that process. That was by design.
It was designed to create a crisis. The crisis was to be used for political purposes to help elect Republicans and to grow support for Trump and his enablers. Moving the crisis to the other side of the border became necessary when too many cameras caught images of US uniforms beating the shit out of Sobbing Guatemalan Toddlers™. But it left lawful asylum seekers living in outdoor camps, controlled by criminal gangs, thick with disease and despair:

But the good news is that living conditions and safety of legal asylum seekers are now, today, massively better than they were only a few weeks ago under Republican authority. And they will continue to improve daily going forward, depriving Doctor Dumbfuck of yet another tableau of cruelty to fuel his choke-fapping routine.

Since a gun isn’t always recovered. But when a gun is recovered in a shooting case it comes from Mississippi and a few other gun-crazy trailerbilly former slave states. Which seems weird, since of all Chicago crime guns, Mississippi guns only make up about 6%. Similar numbers for other slave states.
But it makes much more sense when investigators look beneath the numbers to identify the human sources. And when shooting guns are tracked down to their sources it’s a small number of gun dealers in the slave states and a remarkably small number of straw buyers. Records show these guns originate in bulk sales. Sales of ten or more handguns at a time to a single buyer in a single transaction.
And of course what’s missing from the picture are gun show sales. Because there are no records of buyers. But the patterns that emerge show very similar transaction patterns of bulk sales of handguns paid for in cash on a regular basis.
So there’s some talk about guns. White business owners and sales reps hitting quota by shoveling buckets of guns into the trunks of obvious straw buyers paying cash, twenty or thirty guns at a time. Over, and over, and over again.
