This story on the strippers bill of rights is very interesting. It seems like the legislature may have to revisit some things. The worst excesses of strippers losing money on a shift are over, but strip club owners seem like pieces of shit.

Maybe some sort of collective ownership that cuts them out is a way to go in the future? I don’t know, that’s not helpful in the here and now.

So of COURSE DogeY and the GOP budgets wants to zero out the mere $38m to run the program. Miriam Adelson needs the tax cut. Just her. Just her personal TRUMP tax cut would pay for it to continue.

    4,
It’s Ukraine’s land. It all belongs to Ukraine.
And it will never belong to RuZZia.

No matter what happens, RuZZia will never know a moment’s peace on the lands they have stolen and occupied. Even if the whole world abandon’s Ukraine’s struggle for freedom, and Putin succeeds in his lust for European conquest, a violent insurgency will take root and never go away. EU nations and others will support that permanent insurgency as a way to freeze RuZZian aggression in an enduring quagmire. And it will spread very quickly to Belarus, probably resulting in the collapse of the Lukashenko authoritarian regime. Poland will face political destabilization and become drawn in, indirectly supporting the insurgency. That will in turn draw other EU and NATO alliance members into the conflict indefinitely unless and until a negotiated settlement is reached restoring Ukraine’s territories.

    Good times.

    https://insideevs.com/news/759788/tesla-cybertruck-q1-registrations-top/

The article correctly points out that, without radical new technology development, the pickup truck market segment can never become a major source of sales or sales growth in EVs, an assessment that Ford’s CEO Jim Farley, an industry veteran with a lifetime of experience, readily agrees with.

Speaking of liars, Qatar isn’t gifting Trump an airplane; the Pentagon is negotiating to buy it.

Sources contradict Trump narrative about Qatar offering plane as ‘gift’

The Trump administration first approached Qatar to inquire about acquiring a Boeing 747 that could be used as Air Force One …, four sources familiar with the discussions told CNN. That’s contrary to the narrative from the president that Qatar reached out and offered the jet as a “gift” to him.

After Trump took office in January, … [he] tasked his Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff with finding a list of viable planes, a senior White House official told CNN. … Boeing provided US defense officials with a list of other Boeing clients around the world with planes that could work … three of the sources said.

“And Qatar was one of the clients,” the second source familiar with the discussions said, adding the Pentagon “offered to buy the plane” and Qatar indicated it was willing to sell it.

    https://www.aol.com/news/sources-contradict-trump-narrative-qatar-234555043.html

It’s obvious why Trump is lying about the plane being a gift. Taxpayers are already on the hook for the new Air Force One planes on order, and now he wants the public to pay for a vanity plane on the side, while taking Medicaid and food stamps away from the working poor and their children. What a selfish piece of shit. Why doesn’t he buy it himself with the millions he’s raking in from merch and fake crypto?

    First Walmart now Target..

A $9.99 USB-C cord from the store’s in-house Heyday brand is now ringing up at $17.99, according to a self-identified employee on Reddit.

‘It’s happening,’ the worker wrote, sharing a photo of the price tag update. ‘All of Heyday is going up.’

The spike — an 80 percent increase — is being blamed on the latest wave of tariffs linked to President Donald Trump’s trade policies.

It got better. Noem followed up by saying she supports Habeas Corpus while recognizing The President has ‘The Constitutional right’ to suspend it. (libertarian their feelings on Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln retroactively got Congress to approve suspension of habeas corpus.)

Next Dem Senator questions for Norm, who it’s safe to say does not have a pocket Constitution on her at any time…

KIM: Do you know what section of the Constitution the suspension clause of habeas corpus is in?

    NOEM: I do not. Nope.

KIM: Do you know which article is it in?

    NOEM: I do not, sir.

Habeas in a fundamental sense represents the very first, most basic baby steps that human society made departing from the tyranny of kings.

This is where the Arthurian legend stuff first begins to appear in the cultural associations grounding our laws. So it’s essentially early medieval in orgins and reflects the emerging sense at that time that even kings should be bound by some basic duties to the people they governed and that could not ever be waived.

At the time, around 1150 or so) England was quite a mess, infused with social dissolution and upheaval. A massively disastrous Norman civil war had left the countryside infested with roving bands of well armed, well trained mercenaries who fed themselves off the serfs and peasants left unprotected by the Crusades. Nobles in the North and East were in open rebellion. And in the absence of traditional English nobility off to loot the Holy Land, land disputes arose and legal pretenders to local authority emerged. At the same time the Catholic church had established itself as a self-governing authority on its own and, seeking enrichment, began to exert itself over local, earthly matters in dispute.

At the time the common methods employed to dispense “justice” consisted of things like “trial by combat”. The uncertainty that these methods introduced into the growing conditions of legal dispute over titles, authority, and ownership prompted King Henry to intervene. He began by establishing a system of local courts of law providing a public legal process. These new, local courts introduced the basic elements that we associate with western law courts of justice, like appointed judges to preside, juries to weigh evidence and decide the facts, the sworn testimony of witnesses, and eventually the provision of a right (writ) to the accused that they be entitled to face their accusers in public trial and challenge the claims against them. Although at the time the original role of the judge and jury was limited to determining if an offense existed. The defendant was then committed to a “trial by ordeal” such as drowning, thus leaving it up to “God” to decide.

So habeas is very much rooted in the most fundamental ideas of legal process afforded to citizens going back a thousand years and has become entirely integrated into our cultural understanding of what “justice” means. Hardly any rational adult alive today in western culture would approve of “trial by combat” or “trial by ordeal” as a way of deciding a legal dispute. But that is of course exactly what MAGA is attempting to impose upon people living in the United States with brown skin.

While Trump overhauls FEMA, Mississippi tornado survivors await assistance
McKee said the county has sunk an estimated $700,000 into cleaning up the damage but can’t afford to spend more and has halted operations until it receives federal help.
“We need federal help, and we need it desperately, and we need it now,” said Bobby McGinnis, a Tylertown resident and firefighter. “I know President Trump said that — America first, we’re going to help our American folks first. But we haven’t seen the federal folks down here.”

I know my liberal friends oppose the death penalty in all cases, but I’d make a few exceptions. This guy didn’t only rob a convenience store; he doused the 76-year-old clerk with lighter fluid and set her on fire. She “suffered extensive second- and third-degree burns over her head and face, neck, shoulders, upper arms, and leg and was in a great deal of pain in the days before she died, a nurse and doctor testified” at his trial. If anyone deserves death, a torture killer does. Life in prison isn’t nothing, but in a case like this, doesn’t seem like enough. If I were on the Texas board of pardons and paroles, I wouldn’t commute his sentence, either.
