We may wind up in a deep recession with rising inflation, high interest rates, supply shortages, and double digit unemployment. But gas and housing prices may finally fall. And eggs may indeed fall to below $4 a dozen for those brave enough to eat them.
A collapse of wage income can be expected to be accompanied by a collapse of income tax revenues and increases in claims for benefits. So Republicans may also get to claim another massive expansion of the debt and a collapse of services. They’ll claim it was all “inevitable” and blame Biden.
