Good morning to everyone who is fighting ICE detections of children. Fuck me, some of the stories in that article are awful.
It has got a lot better under Biden, but more work needs to be done. Including in Washington. The Cowlitz facility seems pretty bad.
Anyway, please wash your hands right now, and get vaccinated if you haven’t yet.

It should be noted that this POS forced her family and friends to bear the embarrassment of a trial for a crime of which she was clearly guilty.
Her POS partner in crime had already realized that bragging about it online probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, and early last month pled guilty to the charges.

Now that he’s lost Larry Elder has shifted into predictable BIG LIE mode, claiming sweeping yet entirely unspecific “voting irregularities” have stolen the California recall.
Look for more of this in every election from now on, not just the close ones (and the recall does not look close). This is all part of laying the groundwork for Republicans attempting to seize control of elections in large swing states like Florida, Georgia, and Texas. They know that’s the only way they can extend their minority control.

Yes, Elder is veering into loser mode as polls repeatedly predict that Newsom will be retained as governor. There will be the usual tea leaves-reading about the narrowing of Newsom’s margin relative to his election margin, which most likely reflects not much of anything.

Since I’ve been here I’ve seen Poor Bobby lose all his friends and persuade nobody, unless you count how well he persuaded us of his own sad mental decline under Trumpism. But in that time I’ve seen Poor Bobby repudiate Trump multiple times, embrace refugee asylum and resettlement, abandon demands for balanced budgets, embrace victims of sexual harassment, and even soften his opposition to police reforms.
Poor Bobby is not as strong as he might have hoped. His faith that he could dabble in Trump without succumbing to its stupefying pull was proved altogether wrong years ago. And I’m proud to say that daily exposure to HA has gradually stripped him of a good chunk of his “conservative” ideological armor as well. He’s more Q than “conservative” these days. Not sure if that counts as “progress” though.
@1 We’re supposed to be shocked? It’s just what you’d expect from an unmasked and unvaccinated Trumper crowd in a backwater shithole like Alabama. And I’ll fight to the death to defend their right to chant whatever they want to.
2016,
Russia targeted cyber attacks on the election systems of all 50 states, and achieved penetration and direct access to sensitive data in an unspecified number of systems. It is believed that no results were changed, but that conclusion could not be substantiated by the Special Counsel. And both the Republican Special Counsel investigation and the bipartisan Senate Intelligence investigation concluded that Russia was preparing for future attacks in which results would be changed.
Alongside that effort, Russian GRU operated hundreds of bot farms creating and maintaining hundreds of thousands, and at times possibly millions of social media accounts with which to both spread disinformation and disrupt the conduct of the election. That effort was coordinated with the Trump campaign directly and indirectly through sharing of voter and polling data as well as identifying voter profiles for targeting.
No bamboo fibers or Venezuelan ghost-dictators required.

That’s why they have to lie and claim they are out there running a perfect campaign, even while they continue to appear on camera choking kittens and biting the heads off rats. Please note McConnell does not sit on Judiciary, and does not represent Indiana. Nor did ACB graduate from or have any connection to Louisville. She has no connection to Kentucky, the University, Sen. McConnell, or the Scholarship that held the event.
Associate Justices receive thousands on invitations to speak at such locations and events by universities, think tanks, lawyer organizations, public schools, trade groups, foreign governments, and elected officials every year. Regardless of what they say at these engagements when they accept them, which ones they choose to accept is what tells the real story.
Here a highly contentious nominee whose approval was on a party line vote has accepted an invitation to speak at a conservative scholarship founded by a sitting Republican Senator, Directed by a leading Republican opponent of National Popular Vote, and endowed by Communist Chinese and U.S. right wing and evangelical donors to grant undergraduate tuition scholarships to attend Louisville to high school students in Kentucky.

“The latest poll, conducted July 12-15, 2007, finds 30% of Americans approving of the job Cheney is doing as vice president, while 60% disapprove. This is slightly lower than the 34% measured this past March, and is the lowest of his entire tenure as Bush’s vice president.”

A tracking poll conducted by YouGov America found that Pence’s favorability rating stood at 42.5 percent at the end of July 2017. Comparatively, his unfavorability rating stood slightly higher at 44.8 percent. Separate polling by Gallup from around the same time showed 42 percent of voters viewed Pence unfavorably, while 42 percent viewed him favorably.
That’s weird, he uses the term “socialists” like it’s an insult.
@45 That would be a catastrophe. We wouldn’t have anybody to abuse.
FuckHump fans are rabid Bob, including you. What can you expect from your crowd.
We have seventy million of them. Admittedly with about half of that number unvaccinated, facing a one in eight chance of being infected and a one in sixty chance of dying, that number may soon fall by a million or so, concentrated in Florida, Texas, Georgia, etc.
Early on there were some who argued we should just “go for it” and let natural herd immunity arise through infectious spread, even if it meant a couple of million dead. Looks like we might take a more nuanced, “hybrid” approach to that, killing off lots of evangelical xtians, Republicans, and immune compromised kids.

As many as 20% of LAPD have announced they intend to request “religious” exemption from vaccination against the deadly Trump pandemic.
So what does a qualifying religious exemption look like?
I hereby swear/affirm (circle one)
1. That that I have a religious belief or religious conviction that prevents me from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, and also
2. That my religious belief or religious conviction is sincere and meaningful and occupies a place in my life parallel to that filled by the orthodox belief in God, and also
3. This belief is not a political, sociological or philosophical view of a merely personal moral code, and also
4. That I have never received a vaccine or medicine from a health care provider as an adult.

A search of their insurance records for flu shot would be insightful
Lawyers hired to settle for Philadelphia’s liability insurance fund have agreed to pay $2 million to a North Philly home health-care aide who last summer accidentally drove toward a police riot after picking up her kids from daycare, and was set upon by 15 angry, rioting police.
Philly police stopped her at gunpoint, flattened her tires, smashed in her car windows (showering her sobbing children with broken glass), pulled her from the car, beat her to ground in front of her 2-year-old son, arrested her on falsified charges supported by false sworn statements, and forcibly kidnapped her child.
Read that again. It’s not in any way exaggerated. These are the facts agreed to by the investigators for the city. They may deliberately choose to use less precise language. But in simple, plain, courtroom language the city agrees that this is what their police did that morning.
While police held her toddler hostage they arranged for a police union media event at which they displayed her 2-year-old son like a trophy. Philadelphia area and national media played along with the charade, agreeing to report that the child had been “rescued”. To this day there is no record of any report of the child’s custody by Philadelphia Police entered into Pennsylvania CPS records. Philadelphia Police never reported the child to anyone. Following a prolonged and frantic search, the toddler’s grandmother was finally able to locate the toddler locked in the back seat of a Philadelphia Police cruiser miles away in Center City.
The police internal “investigation” of the incident remains “ongoing”.
Police don’t do what you think they do.
@58 – Trump pandemic? No, it was brought to the World by the Chinese Communist Party.
59,
I’m not sure defense lawyers would be allowed to subpoena a police officer’s previous vaccination records as part of a Brady challenge. But I think it would be worth a try. The prospect of 2700 LAPD officers who can be shown to have made false sworn statements under oath would be worth it in my estimation. And I can think of hundreds of law school deans, law professors, retired judges, and advocacy agencies that would gladly brief the court in support of such a challenge.
The problem of police individual and institutional lying is now so out of control that people all across the issue spectrum are highly motivated (at least in California) to see things change. The credibility of the criminal justice system in California has been thoroughly trashed by it. And it goes beyond police. It truly is institutional and systemic.
Remember that under the assumed name “Alexandra McCabe”, Tara Reade was at one time a paid expert witness in domestic violence investigations in Monterey County. It’s known that she lied under oath in her testimony and in her reports in every case for which she was employed. Even the educational and work history credentials she offered to the County Prosecutor were falsified. But no sincere or credible effort was ever undertaken to verify any of it.
It’s one notable example of literally thousands of similar cases of institutional lying by criminal prosecutors and their associates. Lying that has sent tens of thousands of people to prison in California – a decades long tsunami of lying by the state in order to put people in prison.
61,
Credibility much?
For more on that, see 62.
It’s really too late now, boy. You fools have been on an extended, outrageous lying binge for about a decade, offering us horse paste, cock rings, “Whitey Tapes”, pizza dungeons, finger bangs, laptops, “Stand Down”, “long form” birth certificates, male escorts, and “no collusion”. A Defense secretary too cowardly to appear before a Senate committee controlled by his own party is not a good look.
Of course, neither is his behavior WRT the Afghanistan horror we just witnessed.
You really have to see the photo in order to fully appreciate the hypocrisy.
– An automatic voter registration system for each state
– 15 days of early voting and registration on Election Day
– Uniform standards on voting by mail, ensuring that all voters can receive an absentee ballot and requiring a minimum number of drop boxes
– Legal employment protection to insulate nonpartisan election workers from political pressure
– Require states to use paper ballots
– Require states to follow uniform standard criteria in the redistricting of congressional elections, barring map rigging for one party’s extreme benefit, while letting states choose their mode of redistricting (including nonpartisan commissions)
– Set uniform national standards for states that require voter ID, allowing for a wide range of forms of ID to be used
Republicans will now brand themselves nationally in opposition to these simple, democratic principles.
But will Joe Manchin join them?
@ 72
But will Joe Manchin join them?
Shouldn’t you ask whether the CBC would join them, when it realizes that this requirement
– Require states to follow uniform standard criteria in the redistricting of congressional elections, barring map rigging for one party’s extreme benefit, while letting states choose their mode of redistricting (including nonpartisan commissions)
will rob them of a substantial number of their majority-minority representatives?
You just need a handful of CBC member in opposition before it fails in the House due to bipartisan disapproval, QoS McHillbilly.
