“Racially charged” and “inappropriate” are the magic words used to normalize the GOP transformation to fascism. The normalization is necessary because giant media companies depend upon an older white Republican audience to sell dick pills, mutual funds, and Werther’s Originals.
Change the channel. Cut the cable. Ask the bartender to change the channel. Don’t just ignore it and shrug. Stop patronizing businesses who openly seek to normalize violent hatred and bigotry. They are going after our fellow citizens now. Our neighbors, friends, and co-workers. And these media companies are entirely complicit. And not unwittingly so. It’s a conscious business decision they are making to hold onto a certain audience demographic. For that, they are actually willing to see a few people attacked, burned out, driven out, etc. It “concerns” them.
But after all, it’s not as if they themselves are the ones burning crosses on lawns. They are just reporting on it. And dutifully including the cross-burner’s “point of view”.
