I can understand that the legislature does not rally want to have to deal with what voters think and want and would like very much to eliminate any vote input at all, but eliminating these advisory voting issues is an attack on democracy. The VP does have security clearance for most if not all classified documents. A past president has no power to declassify documents after he’s been caught with them. What’s your point, Andy?
On the one had we have Mishandling of classified documents with no evidence they were stolen by that they could very well have been delivered to the VPs office or residence for proper review and then proper care was not taken with them.
On the other hand you have clear intent to remove them from their secure location, lie about having them, ignore a subpoena about having them, have your lawyers sign a sworn statement that you don’t have them, have a search warrant served and find that not only were they there all along but the individual was aware they were there and then made up a story about declassifying them in order to, I don’t know, fool the totally stupid.

It’s a pretty interesting case. I don’t think Robert has it correct with his cow/milk analogy although from one sentence in the link it’s admittedly difficult to tell.
Property destruction aspects were acknowledged by the union members’ decisions to leave the trucks running so that the cement continued to turn. But economically, there’s no difference between spoiled milk and cow death, insofar as both cause an economic loss to the farmer.
The union should, and will, lose this one. The cost to the company of a labor strike is supposed to be the value of the loss of labor. It shouldn’t be the petty loss of a day’s value of a sold item. This was a union miscalculation, and it will be costly to labor efforts going forward.
Stupidity should be painful.
