– Another local overzealous prosecution of a medical marijuana patient goes down in flames.
– Olympia’s Mayor Pro-Tem arrested on suspicion of marijuana trafficking.
– California researchers have found that marijuana is effective for controlling neuropathic pain and muscle spasms.
– The Drug War Chronicle has a summary of the rogue DEA agents in Colorado who are ignoring the Obama Administration’s publicly stated policy and going after individuals within the state’s legal medical marijuana framework.
Scary Gary Randall spews:
Well, I suppose you all are going to say that we should spend our money prosecuting & imprisoning people who pose an actual threat to society. But that is where you are wrong. How can any of us be safe if we know that others are smoking wacky-tabaccy and listening to whale songs or something like that.
And medical marijuana… please. If you have pain we have a wide assortment of opiate based pharmaceuticals, and they don’t carry the side effects or the addictive punch of the liberal devil weed. Wise-up hippies.
Lee spews:
@1
Thanks. Please keep doing what you do.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Hey Lee–
You might want to highlight that the Olympia Mayor was a DEMOCRAT accused of delivering substances with an enhancement within 1000′ of a school! You Lee, should be PROUD this guy is one of your brethren!
The Democrats love this pot-seller by a School so much, they wanted to appoint him COUNTY TREASURER!
Perfect!
A Democrat Dope-Dealer…let’s put him in charge of the County Finances!
You can’t make this sh*t up!
Lee, why don’t you and Hyer start the Bong Party?
manoftruth spews:
lee, you are a fucking moron
manoftruth spews:
sorry lee, i should have said fucking retard
Mr. Cynical spews:
Speaking of re….I mean morons-
The Seattle Park Czar is “relaxing” the smoking ban in Seattle Parks!
This obvious member of Goldy’s Northwest Division of Lunatic Moonbat Progressives now only wants smokers to stay 25′ away from other Park Patrons!

So now, the Park Cig Nazi’s will have to carry tape measures!!
TOO DAMN FUNNY!
Progressivism is a form of advanced Mental Illness.
Zotz spews:
Thanks for keeping us up to date, Lee.
It sucks to have to walk by the reeking piles of garbage to say so, but thanks for all you do.
Richard Pope spews:
Will Joe Higher still get the appointment as Thurston County Treasurer?
Eric Koszyk spews:
Lee, thanks for keeping us informed.
Mr. Cynical, you should read the article more carefully. The man is said to have been 1000 feet from a school BUS STOP and it does not specify if any students were present at the time. Plus, 1000 feet is pretty damned far.
Marijuana is less harmful to one’s health than cigarettes and alcohol. It also has well documented health benefits. Plus, it is no one’s damned business what I put into my own body. Nixon’s failed drug war needs to end and end NOW!
Mr. Cynical, I do agree with you that the Seattle parks department’s new rules regarding cigarette smoke is ridiculous. The science is clear — you can not get second hand smoke from somebody even 10 feet away when you are both OUT FRICKEN SIDE, let alone 25 feet. Breathing car exhaust is much more harmful. Plus the rules include chewing tobacco. It is a ridiculous and unenforceable rule. I don’t smoke cigarettes very often but I will make a point of ignoring this rule.
Manoftruth, watch out! Sarah Palin will come after you for your words.
Daddy Love spews:
Neuropathy is a very real and very serious problem, especially with the higher and higher incidence of diabetes in our society. Once neuropathic pain is well established, it tends to become more difficult to successfully manage and more aggressive treatments may be required. Neuropathic pain does not respond well to opiates, so if marijuana is an effective treatment, it should be legalized for that purpose to help put off the day that neuropathy patients have to resort to spinal blocks and other extreme measures.
SJ spews:
@10 Daddy
Leaving all else aside, the abstract i saw from the study in California did not show evidence that marijuana or THC was more effective or more safe than other drugs.
BTW, there is a “new” cannabinoid around, “K2” that is more potent.
Hype is not goping to help.

Broadway Joe spews:
Guess what, Junior Troll Crusader? You just don’t know shit. I sincerely wish you could spend a day in my wife’s shoes, go through what she has to endure in life. Here’s a listing of what my wife’s illnesses are, and these are absolutely confirmed by our doctors (unless I say otherwise):
Fibromyalgia
Sarcoidosis
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
Hypoglycemia
Asthma
Multiple Sclerosis (tests to confirm doctor’s diagnosis pending)
Now, lets’s start with the fibro. Let me explain what fibro is in words you can understand: LOTS OF PAIN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BODY. And even with her ridiculously high pain threshold, when the fibro flares up, she’s reaching for her pain pills. Oxycontins could cut it for a little while, but at about $95 for a months’ supply (yeah, we have no insurance – no way to afford it, and with her conditions, nobody would accept her if we could afford it), that’s just too expensive, so it’s over to the Vicodin ($30+/month), but that just doesn’t cut it, so it’s almost a certainty that about six to eight times a year her pain will only be relieved by a trip to the ER for Dilaudid injections, which generally cost us about $800. The sarcoidosis, which is currently in remission, can cause pain in her lungs (pulmonary sarcoidosis), and can potentially spread to a wide variety of locations in her body if it comes out of remission.
Her thyroid condition would be eventually fatal without daily medication, some of which is unavailable (Armourthyroid) due to nationwide recalls.
MCS (a grand-scale way of saying she’s allergic to damn near everything to one degree or another) looms over everything, causing everything from dietary problems to drug interactions.
Hypoglycemia is actually the easiest to control, but had she not decided to drink three glasses of wine on an empty stomach at the Atlantis last year while I was at work, she’d still have her driver’s license.
Asthma is even more fun with sarcoid.
And MS is the cherry on top, only diagnosed by our doctor after a four-day, $13,000 stay at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno last August, when her legs simply stopped working. Oddly, SMRMC failed to include screening for MS amongst their tests and passed it off as ‘hysterical paralysis’. But our doctor in Reno put all the pieces together and attempted to schedule an MRI of her brain, which we simply couldn’t afford. But there’s really no need for it, because nothing else explained the totality of her symptoms and illnesses.
Now where does medical marijuana come into this? Remember when I told you how we couldn’t afford Oxycontin, and how Vicodin doesn’t really cut it? Well, in October 2007 my wife and I went to my old rubgy club’s Halloween party, which also happened to be on her birthday. When someone offered her ‘magic’ brownies, she tried one. Just one. She was, by her standards, reasonably pain-free and very mobile (due to her illnesses, she will use at all times either a cane, forearm crutches, or a wheelchair to get around, depending on her level of pain – this time she didn’t need any of them) for the next 36 hours. Normally, she’d take 3-4 Vicodin or Oxycontin in that timespan, but none were required. Remember how much the Oxys and Vicodin cost? I could go up to the legal dispensaries in South Lake Tahoe and buy her a brownie for two to three bucks. No interactions, no toxicities, and while it doesn’t help her lose weight (appetite stimulant, y’know?), it also doesn’t cause her to barf up her lunch, which the Oxy and Vicodin have done before. The only downside is that she can only ingest it because of her lung issues.
So, I guess my wife has an ‘excuse’ to ingest medical marijuana. I didn’t know that wanting to lead a normal, active life was an excuse. JTC, I honestly think you couldn’t survive a day in my wife’s shoes – you’d kill yourself from the pain. And she has considered suicide. I would be rather opposed to that, so I’ll find other means to help ease her pain. And MJ has helped her, I have absolute, undeniable proof of that. Fuck you for your prejuidice, ignorance, and hatred. Oh, and one other thing:
EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Cynical spews:
Broadway Joe–
So sorry to hear about your wife’s severe health problems. If pot helps her under the circumstances outlined, then by all means go for it. No question.
On the flipside, the impact of excessive recreational use is highly questionable
Plus, we have plenty of “businessmen” growing it and selling it to kids from Middle School on up. To pretend this is not happening is foolish. Pot for young kids is bad. They lose their competitive drive and it destroys their “Give a Shitter” gland.
Proof of the impact of excessive pot?
I offer up ylb, the chronic unemployed loser, who has smoked so much pot he can no longer post a coherent thought.
Mark1 spews:
@21 Mr. Cyn:
Well stated. Agreed 100 percent.
Crusader spews:
How about a deal? Stop supporting tax increases, and I’ll support pot legalization. Quid pro quo!
Steve spews:
@21 “Pot for young kids is bad. They lose their competitive drive and it destroys their “Give a Shitter” gland.”
So this justifies the prohibition of MJ? Unless our resident KLOWN believes that alcohol is good for kids, spurring their competitive drive and stimulating their “give a Shitter” gland, then I’m sure he’s for prohibition of that as well. If not, then he’s as big a hypocrite on this subject as he is with everything else. As for Mark1, I’m sure he’ll be back with only another head nod as he’s never learned to think for himself.
Mark1 spews:
@24 Slimey Steve:
This coming from a noted goat-obsessor? That’s rich. Thanks for the chuckle however. BTW, I think I read somewhere that beastiality is now a felony in WA. Be careful, and stay the fuck away from my cat! :)
Anthony M spews:
“Pot for young kids is bad. They lose their competitive drive and it destroys their “Give a Shitter” gland.”
It’s funny how you state this like it’s fact when in most cases it’s absolutely not the truth. If someone has no competitive drive and is a loner or whatever else, it wasn’t caused by cannabis, it’s just that person’s personality.
In many cases cannabis has the opposite effect. I was 16 when I started smoking, I worked at McDonalds and my future “career” was to work towards being a manager. I’ve smoked every day since then and am 20 now, am a Junior in college and have a 3.7 GPA, I work full time, am engaged to get married, I volunteer at several places around 15-20 hours a week and I plan to get a PhD in literature with a political science minor. If I wouldn’t of started smoking cannabis and had my eyes and mind opened I never would of accomplished a lot of what I did because I was in a rut, and marijuana took me out of it.
And trust me, I’m FAR from the only one who has had this kind of experience.
