If you watched the convention coverage last night, you surely got a better view of Michelle Obama’s speech than I caught on my little camera, so I’m not going to bother posting my recording of the speech here. But I will show you a snippet of Michelle’s entrance from the perspective of the WA delegation, giving you a sense of the genuine excitement and enthusiasm on the floor.
There is a kinda made for TV quality to the convention, so it’s an entirely different feeling being part of it than watching it. In fact, I’m so accustomed to experiencing conventions through the tube, I almost feel like I’m missing this one, even when I’m actually there. Um… especially when I’m actually there.
The prime time speeches are pretty damn exciting, but the rest of the program has the feel of a second rate awards show, but with high production values… kinda like if you took the Science and Technology awards and made them part of the prime time Oscars presentation.
Anyway, more video coming.

Better video here

Ah, yes, “second rate awards show” was my feeling watching it on TV, with the bumper music, video tributes, and everything, though as I said previously, the speeches from Obama and Kennedy were excellent.
I didn’t get to watch the whole thing live, but was interested to see (during a late night replay of the pre-prime time portion) how the party has marginalized Jimmy Carter this time around. He used to get podium time, in the evening, well into the week. What’s with that?
ratcityreprobate spews:
Fox is doing the pool video for all the commercial TV channels and PBS so if what you see on TV seems a little strange when they pan out across the delegates on the floor it is and it is not reflective of the delegates in general. How this slip up got past the DNC is beyond belief.

Heh. This is funny. Regarding the 2008 Republican Party Platform:
Like TBogg says, McSame hasn’t lost yet and already he’s being purged.

Obviously, you’ve never participated in the building of a platform. Not referencing a particular candidate is a GOOD thing. A platform should be a concise statement of positions and values. In marketing terms, it is a “branding” thing.

On to more interesting things. Gotta love the “Biden Bounce” in the polls:

5 – heh. You can’t freaking read can you?
ByeByeGOP spews:
So Fake Mark is saying the 2000 and 2004 “GOP” platforms were bad because they DID reference a particular candidate…
You have to admire how fucking stoooooopid these inbred righties are because someone they manage to type on a keyboard with only an IQ of nine.

@5 “A platform should be a concise statement of positions and values. In marketing terms, it is a ‘branding’ thing.”
Well, that should be easy for the GOPers, and building their platform shouldn’t take more than a couple minutes. You can sum up the GOP philosophy in one word:
Take.
