I remember once in elementary school being absolutely mortified to quickly lose a game of chess to an opponent who… well… let’s just say he wasn’t one of the brightest kids in the school. And that’s how I imagine the League of Conservation Voters should feel after endorsing Rep. Dave Reichert:
The League was aware of the comments Reichert made this summer — revealed on political blog Horsesass.org, in which Reichert can be heard referring to environmental votes as “chess pieces” for re-election — but Palamuso said those comments didn’t stop the group from endorsing him.
And neither apparently did Reichert’s own voting record, forcing the LCV to establish a new low for endorsements, at least in regards to its own widely promoted National Environmental Scorecard. For example, in 2009, Reichert earned a 64% score from the the LCV for his environmental votes (two points up from his lifetime average), the lowest of any of the 42 House and Senate candidates they’ve endorsed this cycle thus far.
To put that in perspective, at 64%, there are actually 351 members of Congress with a higher LCV score than Reichert… 310 of whom did not earn an LCV endorsement.
That’s some curve they’re grading on, at least when it comes to Reichert. And that’s some awfully bad chess those duffers at the LCV must be playing, to get outsmarted by a guy with a fist-sized blood clot in his head.

I have a request for donations from this group sitting on my desk. It is being moved to the recycling container.

Same here, GT. Groups who think like these people are passed their relevance.

It might help you KLOWNS if you got your Idiot-in-Chief to STFU. Every time he opens his mouth with destructive, non-leadership comments like FoxNews is destructive to America, more folks grow to hate him.
Look at today’s strong disapproval rating–

How in the world could ImamObaMao give an interview to Rolling Stone after he chastized McChrystal for doing it??
Egomaniac.
Clinging to my guns and religion spews:
Ah………the sweet smell of jealousy! Nothing could be finer than HA sensing the certainty of another Reichert victory.
Echo Hill spews:
The LCV in Washington State has taken a right turn over the last few years. It’s unsurprising that they’ll endorse candidates like Reichert (and Jordan Royer) that their colleagues in other states would come near. What is surprising is their ability to continue to drawn in money from donors who care about the environment, especially some of the big ones who should be paying closer attention.
correctnotright spews:
@3: Actually, what he said was that Faux news is biasedd – and that is a FACT!
If you re too dumb to see that, Klynical – then maybe you need to go back to grade school to understand the bias.
How can someone as dumb as you even survive in the world?
Oh yeah, it is not clear that you are even surviving…no one has ever seen you and we can’t believe a thing you say anyways.
You are supposedly religious – but you write stuff like STFU and lie all the time…so I have to assume that you are lying about being religious also.

given how much you LOVED Delbene’s ad that hits Reichert for HIS earmarks, which pale in comparison. In view of how much time you spend highlighting the Seattle Times on HA, it’s surprising that you missed this . . .
Goldy spews:
@3, @7,
Fair warning. If folks continue to blatantly violate HA’s off-topic policy, I’m just going to start deleting comments en masse, without notice.
Goldy's own blood clot spews:
@8 Fair warning.
Great – so in the next open thread you’ll be reminded to connect the dots re: 7 on the subject of blood clots.
PassionateJus spews:
The LCV is the most wimpy, useless environmental organization around. I ignore them and would never give them money.
They refused to endorse McGinn last year, out of jealousy I suppose, since him and the Sierra Club were able to get light rail extension approved the year before.
They have nothing to show for all the $ they collect.
N in Seattle spews:
ob-spelling note (your usual error, my emphasis):
You’re welcome.
Alki Postings spews:
@3 Thanks for pointing out today that Obama is much more popular than the last time you idiots (Republicans) got to run things…and that wasn’t a few months into your ‘attempt’ but after 8 years…8 years to implement your policies, make clear what you wanted, make the country the way you desire…and you ended up with a -30 approval index. You suck. Obama sucks, but not half as much as your policies and ideas.
Thanks for cheering me up!
P.S. Obama’s approval rating in on par with SAINT MAGIC RONALD NO FLAWS REAGAN at this same point in his first term (and Reagan had a ‘double dip’ recession even). That means 8 years of Obama! Thanks AGAIN for cheering me up!!!! YEAH!

I think LCV did us all a favor with this endorsement. See, the non-profit world is filled with lazy, stodgy, people that want to be able to sound like they’re cool and involved because they’re “on the board” but don’t actually want to do any work or make any hard choices. With Reichert’s endorsement they’re letting us know that LCV is part of this crowd and that if we want to look for real environmentalists or leadership we need to look elsewhere.
Proud To Be An Ass spews:
I sent the LCV a big donation, but I signed the check with Cynical’s name.

A lot of people are giving Reichert a free pass. Like Wea & NEA. Weird. Why? I don’t get it at all.
N in Seattle spews:
Reichert votes against compensation for 9/11 first responders. Why does he hate NYPD and FDNY heroes?
It should have been an easy AYE vote … 17 of his GOP colleagues supported the legislation. But not Sheriff Hairspray.
sarge spews:
How can the LCV be so completely oblivious or willfully ignorant of the big picture? The Republicans have nothing to offer them. The “Pledge to America” has nothing for America, or the LCV. It is more of the same failed ideology that has plagued us for three decades. Does the LCV really want John Boehner to be Speaker, and Joe “I’m so sorry we were mean to you, BP” Barton as Chair of the Energy Committee?
There is absolutely no way to justify handing Congress to Republicans. Not economic theory. Not empirical data, not historical precedent, and not anything from the non-partisan CBO.
If you are going to make mistakes, it is more to your credit to make a different one every time. To turn the House over to the Republicans is a disaster for the environment and the future of our planet and the US economy. They have not only not offered anything to help stop the decline of manufacturing, the middle class, and the consumer economy. They are every day fighting every effort by the Democrats to actually do something about it. And they especially are opposed to any investment in alternative and clean energy, because that might hurt the profits of the oil companies.
What the Hell is wrong with the LCV? What the Hell is wrong with American voters?
I understand that a lot of people are just uneducated, ignorant, and susceptible to the lies, distortions, and destructive GOP ideology. But the LCV has no excuse. These are educated, informed people. I am disgusted.
