    It’s gorgeous here right now. We’ve just had a very refreshing day or so of rain and it’s beautiful outside – 70 and sunny.

    Russian wheat harvest down 30% due to drought and wildfires. They are placing a hold on all exports. The fields are so dry that what was left of the wheat is literally going up in smoke – wildfires have cast Moscow in a dark haze, nobody can go outside and windows are closed, even though temperatures are stiffling (they don’t have much air conditioning there, either).

    Not exactly much of a “day at the beach” for them, or for the third-world economies which rely upon imported wheat for much of their food staples.

I, unlike Goldy, can pay my own way in life and don’t need family charity, handouts from Mommy, etc., and own a rather nice home and many posessions that I worked to pay for by my own sweat.     Went through NJ on the 5th and 10th of this month through Newark Airport. Got to talk quite a bit with folks on the plane and in the airport. Besides the noticing the oppressive heat, most people I talked to sure seem to like their new governor. Actually, the count was 6-2 in favor of Christie. A non-scientific poll, of course, but the shine sure seems to be lacking in Democratic support by my take of things. In NJ of all places.
