King County Superior Court Judge Paris Kallas ruled today that Dino Rossi has to testify in the lawsuit filed by two former Washington State Supreme Court justices alleging that he illegally coordinated with the BIAW to raise money for his election campaign.
Rossi will face questioning on Wednesday from attorney Knoll Lowney.
UPDATE [GOLDY]:
In case you’re wondering, no, there aren’t any legal restrictions on releasing the transcript of the deposition, so if Rossi has anything embarrassing to hide we’ll either hear about it this week, or, you know, he’ll perjure himself.

Any chance of getting into that courtroom tomorrow? Oughtta’ be some kind of fun!

Seeing as how Alaska’s Senator Stevens bit the dust today (guilty on all counts!!), perhaps the Dems are on a roll.

Gotta love it – another Republican crook.

@4: Daniel
You can stop dispensing the oxymorons and redundancies. No need to say the word crook after the word republican – it is assumed.
Simply state “another republican….” and the meaning becomes clear. This reduction in verbiage will help save paper and be more clear.

I predict Rossi will use the “Gonzales/Reagan Defense”: He remembers nothing of any significance. He figures that will get him past the election, and once in office he can use his pardon powers to protect himself and his backers.
I sure hope they subpoenoed his cell phone records.

Excellent advice. Thank you.
Particle Man spews:
Goldy, it’s not an either or thing. Rossi WILL perjure himself, question is, will he be exposed by election day.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Crook!!
I-Burn spews:
He’ll get a fair trial and then we’ll hang him?
rhp6033 spews:
My understanding is that Rossi is not on trial. He’s not even a party to the lawsuit. He’s merely a witness.
But that could change.

Yes, in the public square.
Tom Foss spews:
Actually RHP, I think he is a party in this case. Its hard to keep up, I know. See comment at 6- Dino fits right in.
If I am keeping track correctly, I think there are three separate cases, with two separate claims in one of them:
Case 1) BIAW breaks their trust relationship with members by spending workers comp money on politics, taht is supposed to go to workers comp program for workers and members. This case and the discovery started it all…
case 2) BIAW illegally started to raise the money, in 2007, and did not file as a PAC, and the organization acted as a de facto PAC. This is the case in front of the AG where the PDC alraedy found unanimously that the law was broken.
case 3) The case in front of us now is that Rossi is alleged to have illegally violated the law by coordinating with an independent expenditure campaign by helping in the fund raising. This case has two elements- a PDC element and this case as a private action to enjoin them from spending the illegally gotten and illegally coordinated money. If this is true, as their own documents say it is, then every dollar after 3,200 of the $7 million is illegal.
Oh, and there is the Repub party breaking the law on using non campaign money for campaign activites, too. Also, the illegal grant of credit for TV time to Rossi, Reichert, and McKenna. How much do you want to bet the the RGA group is doing something fishy, too? After all, its the Republican way this year.
You need a long crime docket to keep track of all the illegal activities and the many and varied ways to flaunt the law. I guess they were so confident in winning, they thought they could then forgive and pardon themselves, or slap themselves on the wrist.
This scheme of theirs needs to end.

Judge Dismisses Berg Lawsuit
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by Philip J. Berg, a colorful Pennsylvania lawyer who once asked 3 Supreme Court Justices to voluntarily disbar themselves, to declare Barack Obama ineligible to be president. Berg asserted that Obama was born in Kenya and is a citizen of Indonesia. The judge called Berg’s argument “frivolous and not worthy of discussion.”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Yet another egg-on-their-faces defeat for our righty trolls who have been touting the Berg lawsuit and linking to wingnut blogs discussing it! Sorry, guys, you’ve just had another one of your spurious talking points shoved up your collective asses.
Steve spews:
Geez, what happened to our trolls? Did the BIAW can them all to save a little money for attorney fees? Do they finally see the writing on the wall? It couldn’t have been very much money saved as I imagine our trolls worked for cheap and the BIAW probably figured a way around paying them the minimum wage. Besides that, I bet there was only two or three of them, each with umpteen sockpuppets.
I-Burn spews:
@15
Hey man, who are you calling a sockpuppet? ;)

@18:
What are you trying to say? all I can get is gibberish from what you wrote.
I guess the idea that republicans are breaking the campaign finance law (Dino Rossi), breaking the ethics laws (Ted Stevens and Sarah Palin), breaking the constitutional laws (illegal wiretapping and illegal suspension of habsues corpus) and generally breaking the ehtics rules (Foley, Craig, Vitter, Safasian, Delay, Abramoff and on and on) doesn’t bother you.
I personally would be embarassed to associate with a party that condones criminal activity. Is that what you mean by moderate? That people on here actually think the law should be followed and that people should be responsible for their actions?
Is that too radical an idea for you?
zapporo spews:
Frenetic obstreperous screaming @19 – Wow.
You went all over the map on that one.
Did you have a point?
Did I ever state my party affiliation?
Did I ever state publicly that I have never voted for a Democrat?
Here’s the challenge to you.
Show us verifiable proof from an objective source that clearly, concisely shows beyond a preponderance of doubt (from a “reasonable person”) that Dino Rossi has broken ANY campaign finance laws.
No worries.
It’s just your credibility on the line.
