You know, I had thought that one of the advantages of being Jewish is that nobody could accuse me of being a traitor to the so-called Aryan race… but I hadn’t counted on our modern, sensitized, 21st century Nazis being so inclusive:

The email went on to helpfully include the addresses of several Nazi websites, but out of deference to the confidentiality notice above, I have declined to promote them here. Out of similar respect, I have also redacted the email address of the sender, but I assure you that googling it would uncover additional useful resources on the American Nazi movement… that is, assuming you consider a handful of ridiculous, drably-costumed nutcases protesting ironic statues, to be a “movement.”

I should note that this is far from the first anti-semitic email I have received, nor is it remotely the most offensive… in fact, these “official” Nazis could learn quite a few tricks from the amateurs. But whether you chalk it up to boldness or stupidity, it is the first overt threat I’ve ever received where the sender apparently did not feel the need to maintain total anonymity.

For years, Dave Neiwert over at Orcinus has chronicled the gradual spread of eliminationist rhetoric from the far right-wing fringe into mainstream discourse. But the flip-side to the mainstreaming of their rhetoric, is that these extremists continue to grow ever more extreme. And bolder. And for this, the high-profile, professional antagonists who make their living parroting this violent hate speech (i.e. Ann Coulter) have at least some moral culpability.

Judging from his email address, my pen-pal fancies himself an elite, SS commando — a twisted, if sadly pathetic fantasy — though in the real world, I’m guessing he’s more beer belly than Beer Hall Putsch.

Whatever. Watch me all you want. (Right now I’m doing my one finger version of the Nazi salute.) Just bear in mind, we’re watching you too.

    Jews have been reviled for ages by the populist right as a “conspiratorial cabal of international bankers” controlling world history (cf. John Birch Society and many others before them). On the other hand, many of the early socialists (pre Stalin & Mao) were jewish, and the left is often dennounced as a “jewish conspiracy” (cf one A. Hitler).

    My question is this: If world history is just the unfolding of a massive jewish conspiracy by rabble rousing communist bankers, how could they have fucked it up so bady for themselves?

    As sure as the sun rises and sets, Deanron continues to hold the voter database transaction log hostage. By unlawfully withholding these public records for yet another weekend, Deanron has put the county’s taxpayers at risk to pay out yet another $200 in fines. As I’ve mentioned, I will use whatever award I receive from this lawsuit for future projects to hold government accountable. So I guess this is an example of how Deanron really does “create wealth more efficiently”.

    I haven’t heard anyone say that they seriously support the re-instatement of Saddam Hussein. I have heard people say that the region would be more stable and the U. S. better off if he had been left in power while a more rational plan for securing Iraq was thought out. This is the position of foreign policy “realists”. While us peace lovers sometimes agree with the realists, they favor the continuation of the US foreign policy of meddling in the Middle East, which makes the the “enemy of our enemy” kind of friend, at best.

    Recently one such person, Rober Baer, who was a CIA case officer operating in the Middle East from 1976 to 1997 expressed this view:

    QUESTIONER: We overthrew a country that despite how cruel Saddam Hussein was, he was not one to aggressively foster terrorism within Iraq. And yet you have the Saudis, who are our closest friends and who do finance terrorism, as you point out, to the tune of a billion dollars over the last decade. It seems like everything’s upside down.

I think it’s pretty clear now that Saddam was not supporting bin Laden to any degree that we can establish … So we have created a terrorist state where we didn’t have one before.     Cougar – I want the Iraqis to win, and become a stable, free society. If that means that the Kurds become autonomous, fine. What the latest violence has shown is that there isn’t the huge divide between Sunnis and Shia that the media likes to play up. Iraq is not a particularly religious state, and so the sectarian stuff doesn’t play as well there. If the economy is moving, and people are gainfully employed, there is less energy to indulge in the insurgency.

    The Iraqi police need to establish themselves as a law abiding force, that have the respect of the public. Once that happens, we can leave. It isn’t something that happens over night, but it is happening faster there than expected.

    What makes you think I’m one of the generous donors who paid for his lawsuit?*

    * Note that I didn’t call it a silly-ass lawsuit. I have not commented on the merits of Stefan’s lawsuit against King County. Maybe it has merit, maybe not. All I can say is, I worked in government for three decades, and most bureaucrats simply don’t take the public disclosure laws seriously enough, and don’t understand the potential for financial penalties when they don’t.

    The attorney general has hired a full-time attorney to work on public disclosure issues, and part of his duties include educating state agencies about the requirements of the law — and the consequences of not complying with them. Most of the state’s largest agencies are taking the PDA seriously, but the message has been slower to get to bureaucrats at county, city, school district, and port district levels. And perhaps the skulls at thicker at the lower levels.

    Maybe Dean Logan and KCRE has complied with the law. Clearly, they’ve gone to extraordinary lengths to accomodate him. They’ve given him access to over 600,000 documents, and they assigned a staff member to work full-time on fulfilling his requests for six weeks, plus they gave him use of a room in a public building for several weeks — possibly at the expense of other citizens. In short, KCRE bent over backwards for Stefan. But that may not be good enough. If they were dilatory about providing even ONE public record, that’s all the grounds Stefan needs to sue.

    However, awarding attorney fees and monetary penalties is at the judge’s discretion, and if the judge finds KCRE acted in good faith in trying to fulfill Stefan’s requests, it’s unlikely the court will award him any money.

    I think there is a reasonable chance that the repubs will nominate McCain, maybe with Rice as VP. It would be a winning ticket. The dems will shoot themselves in the foot and nominate someone like Kerry or Clinton. Neither has an ear for politics. Either that, or the far left will get their way (bought and paid for) and put in someone totally out of the mainstream.

And if they did, what would then happen to the complex ethnic balance in northwestern Iran? Look at a map before making such a statement.
