– Make sure to plan on having a little extra time if you’re taking the 1 Line over the weekend.

Sonia Sotomayor read this and now wonders why the fuck she even still tries. Being a Wise Latina, she recognizes that there is very little difference between 6-3 and 7-2.

And that if she retires (or worse) her Latinx seat will quickly be filled by Ted Cruz, who will be confirmed 99-0 because every other sitting senator would kill to get him out of their chamber.

Three – count ’em, three – judges on the Nutty Ninth delivered a smackdown to the increasingly silly Dow Constantine of such weight that Constantine won’t waste any more taxpayer money on the false notion that the federal government does not have standing to sue to enforce federal policy.

And on the false notion that there is no legal effect behind the EO issued by Constantine, even though it pressured companies to comply with the ol’ “Nice business ya got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.”

No concurrences. No dissents. Three judges speaking with a single voice, even the one appointed by Clinton.

Dow Constantine violated the Constitution. The title of his EO is “Prohibition on immigrant deportations.”. He should wait until he’s governor before pulling this kind of silly shit again.

Tobias called the notion that the 9th Circuit is liberal “dated.” Arthur Hellman, a federal courts scholar at University of Pittsburgh Law School, said the picture of where the court stands in relation to other circuits has become muddier.

“The reputation is certainly deserved based on the history of the last 40 years or so,” Hellman said Monday. “It’s been more liberal, by which we mean more sympathetic to habeas petitioners, civil rights plaintiffs, anti-trust cases, immigration cases. But it’s less of an outlier now than it was.”

Supreme Court Hands 9th Circuit Highest Year of Reversals Since 1985

So, if the Ninth’s abnormally high correction rate does not necessarily have to do with size or ideological warfare, what can account for the deviation?

Perhaps a significant factor comes down to the short-sighted and ultimately unconstitutional policies put forth by California’s lawmakers.

    Any discussion about idiots in office in California must include a Boxcheck Momala reference, so here you go;

Under former California Attorney General Kamala Harris, her department exposed the identities of donors through regulations that required 501(c)(3)’s to disclose major donors. Many charities, including PRI, argued that the disclosures would lead to harassment. In Americans for Prosperity Foundation vs. Bonta, the Supreme Court upheld First Amendment rights and struck down the California regulation.

In a case about California immigration law, Garland v. Dai, the Supreme Court unanimously vacated the Ninth’s decision. And in Nestle v. Doe I, the Supreme Court ruled 8-1 against the Ninth’s unprecedented decision that U.S. corporations could be held responsible for alleged international human rights violations.

It’s true that DJT45 filled a lot of seats on the Ninth Circuit. The nuttiness will persist for years, nonetheless. Helpfully, Democrats did much this year to enable DJT47 to continue his work.

Maybe he wants to be a professional athlete, or maybe he has always coveted a no-show job at a Ukrainian oil firm. Maybe he wants to fence precious gemstones for Chinese sex traffickers or make a name for himself as an amateur porn star who specializes in the “lonely widow” genre. Make sure he understands that no dream is too big, but don’t ever let him feel like you’re trampling on his independence. Rather than setting up a bunch of difficult-to-trace shell corporations on his behalf, for example, you could teach him how to do it himself. Make a few introductions here and there, but don’t force it. Just take your cut of the profits and congratulate him on a job well done.

A whole lot of margin loans. I was forced to buy Oracle at $62. I was forced to buy Apollo at $40. And a shitload of other companies at deeply albeit temporarily depressed prices Woe was me.

But then the market roared back. And on the way I kept selling naked puts and collected volatility-priced premiums.

I got to sell Pfizer at $55 during that brief period of time a year later when the government was pouring tens of billions into its shitty vaccines. I had held that dog for 20 years before that. Pretty sure Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit was the one who bought my shares.

Unhappy that a small place with lodging and restaurants was government-subsidized to keep its staff employed even though there was no work for them and no income for their employer? Captain Whidbey didn’t run a take-out service for revenue. Captain Whidbey was dead in the water.

Pick someone else to harass. Small businesses whose employees were paid to do nothing did not enrich the business owners by taking PPP funds. Instead, they paid the funds to their staff, which was a requirement for loan forgiveness. Pick an attorney or someone like a CPA (or investment professional). Welfare Queen YLB claims differently.

Of course, she also feels that because her fucked kids’ friends were able to keep their jobs because PPP money was available to their friends’ employers, it’s only right that her fucked kids should shoulder a higher national debt burdern so that their friends can get out of paying their debts.

It’s really hard to feel sorry for someone who so consistently dumbcunts her way through life, but that’s our precious Welfare Queen YLB. Her motto: “Have pom poms, will cheer for anything liberal.”

No objection AT ALL to businesses getting bridge loans on the easiest of terms due to an unprecedented crisis.

So why couldn’t “responsible” bidness people pay them back like any other business loan from a bank?

And herein Welfare Queen YLB demonstrates that she still does not understand the PPP concept.

Welfare Queen YLB, there were two categories of businesses during the pandemic: those that could function more or less normally during the closures – think legal offices, insurance agencies, CPAs – and those who were forced to close down and had nothing for their employees to do and no incoming revenue from which to pay them.

Your inability to distinguish between the two and your demands that the loans be repaid regardless of whether the money was kept or went out the door to pay employees who otherwise would have been laid off or fired proves your misunderstanding of what went on.

For most businesses had there NOT been PPP massive layoffs would have occurred and many, many businesses would have been shuttered, permanently. Captain Whidbey Inn may very well have been one of them, because no one was paying for lodging and no one was paying for nice dinners and brunches. The government would have paid out money as unemployment compensation instead of being handed out as loaned funds.

If you want to demand that attorneys and others who didn’t need the funds but applied for PPP money because they could, and the kept it because they could, then go ahead and do that. But girlfriend, FIRST you need to understand the PPP issue correctly. Beginning with Congress deciding that as long as the funds were partitioned and could be traced, the money did not have to be paid back. And guess what? That’s what the passed and signed bill said. The money would not need to be paid back.

You are whining like an unserious bitch because people kept money they did not need. Well, Welfare Queen YLB, did you and your family NEED all of the $11k+ Uncle Sam handed it as pandemic funds? No? Well, then why didn’t you pay it back, girlfriend? Why couldn’t your “responsible family” pay it back?

You’re an unserious twat. You’re also a hypocrite for keeping that money.

You can begin to improve your standing among those of us who read your pitiful spews, Welfare Queen YLB, by admitting that Captain Whidbey Inn was a very poor choice to try to make an example of, because Captain Whidbey Inn took that PPP money and paid it out to staff so that it would still have a staff once business resumed. There likely was no residual money after its staff was paid (and payroll taxes were paid). If you’re not able to do that, Welfare Queen YLB, then you’re just wasting everyone’s time and you’re embarrassing the HA moderators.

You were a silly twat before the election and you’ve doubled down on it since.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about:

I saw a short video on “Judging Freedom” today of then-General Austin (now the SECDEF) testifying before the Senate. He freely admitted to spending $500 million to train “ four or five” Syrian military people for some task. Spending $500 million for four or five people is what needs to be reined-in.

Trump ain’t gonna do jack-shit in that department because he, just like much of the House and Senate and others in government, is OWNED by AIPAC. They take their orders directly from Israel. It will take outsiders, like Vivek and Elon, to root-out such wastes of money and call attention to these wasteful activities.

The best place to start is with the DOD. Why do we have 1,000 troops in Syria and why does the CIA want them there? Why do we have troops is Iraq, especially now that the Iraqi government has asked us to leave. Why do we have a military empire of over 900 bases around the world and a national debt of $36 TRILLION?

Trump will not be successful in ending this madness, but at least he knows the process needs to be started.

@68 lmao.. that’s a pretty long winded justification for “free stuff”

And it ignores that program was rife with fraud.

    take this from pro-publica:

“The PPP, which provides forgivable loans to small businesses, was launched by the $2.2 trillion CARES Act as one of the central government programs to respond to the coronavirus crisis.

The program has been plagued with problems, and five weeks after it was launched, the SBA has yet to divulge the names of any recipients. The names of a few — Shake Shack, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and the Los Angeles Lakers among them — have come out through other means. Those three returned the loans after an outcry.”

    And

“Overall, ProPublica found at least $250 million that went to publicly traded companies with growing revenues and that has already been forgiven by the government. That’s just a sliver of the $800 billion PPP program. But it’s also almost certainly a significant undercount of the amount of taxpayer dollars that went to well-heeled companies. The count, for instance, doesn’t include any of the billions of dollars that went to firms backed by giant private equity funds. Their finances are not publicly disclosed.”

So not only does dumbfuck sanction free stuff for small businesses in its backyard but it’s ok that well heeled public companies and others connected with private equity fed at the trough as well.

@106 I’ll bet Russia will take them if Trump pays them to. And the migrants will soon find themselves conscripted and in the Ukraine front lines. That would sure as hell discourage anyone from coming here. You won’t even be able to find mice at the border fence.

    😳

@71 “Why do we have 1,000 troops in Syria and why does the CIA want them there?”

Cheap insurance against ISIS making a comeback, and also,

The presence of American forces in Syria makes it more difficult for Iran to move weapons into Lebanon, for use by its proxies, including the Lebanese Hezbollah, against Israel.

It’s the CIA and its crazy and illegal behavior that is responsible for the messes in which we’re involved. We did this to ourselves by having an adventurous and arrogant foreign policy since 1875.

@115 The small troop deployment to Syria doesn’t sound crazy to me, but you do. You sound like someone who believes we can live like it’s still 1875.

Musk didn’t spent $130 million to elect Trump after all. It was at least a quarter billion.
