Assassination Plot Update
According to the latest Newsweek update on the 3 men arrested in Denver for allegedly threatening to kill Sen. Obama, the leader of the group is wanted on several felony warrants, the group openly discussed assassinating Sen. Obama in front of witnesses, their apparent motive is racial rather than political, the group was in possession of a sniper rifle and body armor, and the men may be affiliated with Aryan Nations, some other neo-Nazi group, and/or a motorcycle gang. It appears they intended to pick off Obama at long range with the sniper rifle. All 3 men face drug and firearms possession charges, and authorities are still considering whether to file charges related to the purported assassination plot.

Obama Won’t Raise Anyone’s Taxes
The latest rightwing meme is that Obama will raise your taxes. Of course that’s a fucking lie, just like everything else they say. Under Obama’s tax proposals, taxes would go up only for people making over $250,000 a year.
But wait! Obama won’t even raise their taxes! That’s right, Obama isn’t going to raise anyone’s taxes.
He doesn’t have to. The Bush tax cuts will expire of their own accord. President Obama and the Democratic congress intend to re-enact at least some of the Bush tax cuts for 98% of us. Only for the richest 2% — those making over $250,000 — will see their tax cuts expire.
If you want to stretch English semantics and call “expiration of time-limited tax cuts” raising taxes, then you’d better call it a Republican tax increase, because it was a Republican president and a Republican congress that enacted those tax cuts for a limited time period more or less coinciding with Bush’s time in office.
Another rightwing meme is that 250K isn’t really “rich.” Baloney. I won’t go into the details here of why that’s bullshit. I don’t have to, because Daniel Gross does it in Newsweek. If you want those details, go read Gross’s article in Newsweek Online.
The headline of Gross’s article speaks for itself:

So, if you’re making 250K and you’re worried about the Republicans raising your taxes, you’d better find some other shoulder to cry on, because mine has better things to do.

I’ll bet our local NRA faction will start fuming that these idiots have every right to their sniper rifle. Even felons, after all, should get to own guns. They shouldn’t be able to vote, but, by God, they should get their guns.
Let’s not raise anyone’s taxes. We should just keep borrowing money from the benevolent Communist Chinese government.

Bush Legacy: Senior Citizen Bankruptcies Soar
An article in Time magazine says that while bankruptcy filing rates are dropping for people under age 55, “The filing rate per thousand people ages 55-64 was up 40 percent; among 65- to 74-year-olds it increased 125 percent; and among the 75-to-84-year-old set, it was up 433 percent.”
Harvard professor Elizabeth Warren, who has studied the problem, says, “”There’s no evidence that the problem is consumerism.” Instead, she says, escalating senior bankruptcies are being caused by inflation, medical expenses, and scams.
Bush and the Republican Party have failed senior citizens on all 3 counts: Their reckless fiscal policies have produced runaway inflation, Republicans stubbornly refuse to do anything about our failed private for-profit health care system, and Republicans have gutted regulation and law enforcement.
Why would any senior citizen vote Republican? It’s a fucking mystery! They’re shooting themselves in the foot if they do.

Capital punishment has become quite sterile, with lethal injections and medical doctors needing to confirm deceasedness, and none of it televised. What happened to stonings and hangings in the public square? Once we take over and the prosecutions of the Bushites begin, I believe beheadings would be in order. Beheadings will graphically demonstrate the wrongs that the Bushites have committed. Oh, and, of course, all beheadings would be open to the public.
Faux News was trying to make a BIG story out of the 100 or so “Clinton” protestors “marching” on Denver. They kept splashing “18 million” up on the screen while the video clearly showed about 100 people. These fucks are desparate. I can’t imagine any real journalist being proud of working for such a blatantly in the bag “news” organization.
