I just came in from the beach to find my inbox filled with emails from Mayor Nickels and Mike McGinn. According to McGinn, Nickels is a liar who makes false promises, while Nickels accuses McGinn of lying about Nickels being a liar. And this just in, according to McGinn, Nickels is lying about McGinn lying about Nickels being a liar.
Or something like that. Rather than actually reading the emails, I decided to have a beer and help my daughter play Bananagrams. (We kicked her older cousins’ collective ass.) So there.
correctnotright spews:
Way too much perspective, Goldy.
As a famous congressman (I beleive it was Tip O’Neill) once said, “All politics is local”.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Tip O’Neill is correct.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Well Goldy, if you don’t want to read McGinn’s and Nickels’ e-mails, you can always entertain yourself by reading the 5,400 pages of Bush White House e-mails on the U.S. Attorney firings that were released today by the House Judiciary Committee.
What those e-mails and transcripts of closed-door testimony show is that the Bush White House was “deeply involved” and Karl Rove had a “central role” in the firings of the U.S. Attorneys.
Of course, we knew that all along, and this is only the confirmation that Bush and his underlings sought to politicize federal law enforcement for partisan purposes.
Roger Rabbit spews:
“We’re Happy To Have You”
I’m watching NBC Nightly News right now. The lede, of course, is President Obama’s townhall meeting. He appeared before a friendly audience. One guy who got the microphone said good-naturedly, “I don’t know what I’m doing here, but I’m a Republican.” To which the President immediately replied, “We’re happy to have you!”
That, my friends, is the difference between us and the abusive, bullying protesters who have been disrupting the community meetings put on by members of Congress.
Roger Rabbit spews:
There’s nothing new about any of this. Back in the early ’60s I saw a documentary film titled “Thunder On The Right” that depicted the same sort of angry craziness we see to today. These behaviors have been around for at least half a century. Which raises an interesting question: Do rightwing politics make people dysfunctional, or are dysfunctional people attracted to rightwing politics? Obviously, rightwing ideology exploits and feeds some deep-seated and dark psychological need of weak and insecure people.
angry craziness spews:
You mean that the same sort of crazed demonization of the right has been around since (at least) the early ’60s.
time warp spews:
All you need is a little red book and a bad haircut (harecut?) to look like the Red Guard you are.
Or maybe you’re just a fellow traveller in the cadre … from Hofstadter’s Paranoid Style to Obama’s money grabbing patronizing put-down of the lesser classes clinging bitterly to their Bibles and their guns.
You left-wing elitists all look and smell alike, red and rotten.
YLB spews:
HNMT, you’re on a tear today.
What happened? Had a claim denied on your United Healthcare policy?
correctnotright spews:
@7: Yup, you really are in a time warp.
Only a fool bandies about the “red” or “socialist” term without mentioning the last republican President (you remember him, the guy nobody liked except you hadrcore nuts) who spent us into oblivion (while simultaneously wrecking the economy) and had his pal Paulson bailout the banks (and Goldman Sachs, where Paulson used to work).
Yup, that republican socialist. The guy who wasted 1 trillion on an unnecessary war in Iraq, but failed to get bin Laden.
Yet you fools are squawking about a health care reform bill that will be revenue neutral over ten years, cover everyone and cut costs….go figure.
And all you can come up with is a bunch of transparent lies like fake “death panels” or fake “birth certificates”.
What a bunch of losers, whiners, racists all in the the overly loud, overly stupid wingnut right….y’all can’t debate so you lie and scream.
Haywood Jablome spews:
sure seems like those on the left have short memories.
It was only a few years ago that all we heard was “bush is hitler” etc…..being screamed at the highest levels…..the progressives sure seem to forget their own howling frothiness and shoutdown matches…
dont you all have a military supply train to stop or perhaps spit on a few returning soldiers? We know how you just love the guys and gals in uniform.
Ekim spews:
Oh yes, I especially liked the ‘Kenyan’ birth certificate that came from Australia. Oh that was priceless.
Ira Sacharoff spews:
Goldy,
You’re doing the right thing by ignoring McGinn and Nickels right now. Might I even suggest that you even pay a visit to the giant Republican near your mom’s? Yes, I’m talking about Lucy the elephant in Margate.
Ekim spews:
I didn’t hear it. Must have been you righties screaming it among yourselves. Didn’t know you thought Bush was Hitler.
Ekim spews:
But we do love them. That is why we don’t want them maimed and killed in a useless war. Remember how Bush kept throwing our troops back into battle, even those rated unfit for duty?
We cared. Why didn’t you care?
Ekim spews:
Iraq. 4250 US troops dead and some 30,000 officially wounded.
I care.
Michael spews:
Good call on that one Goldy.
Marvin Stamn spews:
Well then…
Here’s a google link for bush+hitler, “Results 1 – 10 of about 1,170,000 for bush=hitler. (0.39 seconds)”
http://www.google.com/search?h.....38;aqi=g10
Wow, over a million hits and you haven’t heard about it.
I’m guessing you are also clueless about the moveon ad regarding bush=hitler.
Go figure.
