Just a loss of self-control leading to a poor choice of words and an impulsive act (spitting), it seems.
She’s going to pay a heavy price for that. Not only did she lose her job, but she’s now got a reputation on the internet that likely will deter some employers from hiring her in the future. Public employment probably is over for her, and she may now be relegated to clerk positions in dollar stores. So yes, Spitlady has a perfect and unassailable civil right to use that word in front of a crowd of people live streaming it to the world. But words have meanings. And the meaning of the words people use give insight into their character. Spitlady’s employers, present and future, have good cause to be concerned that her use of these words in this context reveal aspects of her character that could expose them to risk and future liability. Her use of these words in such a widely visible and notorious setting creates foreseeability on their part that her future conduct might be injurious. That creates a duty to act. But it doesn’t dictate the action or limit it. Her employers are entirely within their own rights to take whatever legal action they deem most appropriate to protect themselves, including refusing her employment.
People who want to work in the public sector, especially people who want to work in sensitive areas of employment (like public schools) know this. It’s is made abundantly clear to them. This has nothing to do with “civil rights for white people”.
