Over at Crosscut (motto: “News from the great beyond”), Ted Van Dyk proclaims: “Peter Steinbrueck hurls some thunderbolts at Mayor Nickels.”

“Thunderbolts”…? Really?

Look, I like Peter well enough, but Zeus he ain’t. And the fact that Van Dyk would characterize him as such, even if only metaphorically, tells you a lot about Seattle’s bizarrely passive political culture.

    “Passive,” David?

    These fucks in control of government here are mean. They target poor families and the least well-off among us with staggering levels of regressive taxes. It’s worse here than anyplace else in the country.

    Here – tell us what you like best about Sound Transit’s political make-up. The KCE gets to appoint a majority of the boardmembers? No limits on taxing or spending? No way for people to exert any control over it? It’s a statist monolith with plans to slam the least well-off among us for two more generations with freakishly high sales taxes. ST INTENDS to tax by billions of dollars more than it needs for capital costs and operations expenses.

    That’s a government that’s far from passive. Passive-aggressive, sure, but not passive.

    Trubbil here is that van Dyk is as meaningless as as Howdy Doody. His columns in the CCut are dated, boring, uninformative, and too long. TvD is a good writer but he is tooout of it for anyone but Goldy to care.

    BTW, while you are playing cop .. post 2 is OK bit has nuttin to do with the thread either.
