If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.

    If a horrible human being loses an election for presidency, that her supporters are sad: then she shall be surely lauded, and her pussy shall not be eaten by her husband; but the party of the horrible human being shall be tremendously weakened.

    The average number of human beings killed by bulls in the US every year is three. The number in Spain is typically much higher. Too bad the next verse was not included. As a far greater number of people are gored each year. So a fair number of human beings die each year from being gored world wide. Doubt deaths from ox goring was any higher then though perhaps their youth had discovered the joy of dancing on bulls or jumping over them. It was a big thing for the folks on Cyprus and not unknown in Greece or other nearby areas of the Med. So this particular law does not appear to me to be all that silly at all. The gist of the law coming down that the owner will be held blameless and not liable. These people must have enjoyed suing each other as our society does. Must have had some semblance of a civil court. Or at least the upper 10 percent.
