Exodus 21:20-21
If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

    If the slaves have health insurance or single payer health care, then the slave owner is a socialist.. If a slave owner kills his slaves, then he should be punished by losing his or her slave tax exemption..

    I think there’s a huge BDSM vibe here, especially if dying refers to “le petit mort” and the man wasn’t merely beating his male or female slave, but actually beating off his male or female slave.

    If you beat your slave with something other than a rod and they die, you won’t be punished. Hammers are okay.

    How does this work under a “tip credit” system? Can you beat your slaves to death if they don’t bring in enough tips? Obviously they’re not very good slaves if the customers aren’t tipping you.

    Mass Shooting Of The Day (TM)

    At least three people are dead after a gunman opened fire at a Jewish community center and a Jewish assisted living facility in Overland Park, Kansas. Apparently it was the same shooter at both locations. I gather the perp is someone who dislikes Jews for whatever reason.

    Shooting update: A local TV station reported the shooter shouted “Heil Hitler” when taken into custody by police. Two victims were killed at the community center, where many young children were present, and one at the assisted living center.

    I bet the death toll would have been less if he only had a knife.
    We need sensable gun regulation in this country

    @9 Don’t you realize guns are inanimate objects that can’t hurt anyone by themselves? What we need to do is register humans. If you confiscate all the humans, guns won’t be a problem.

    The police chief stated at the press conference that the “person of interest” is a white male in his 70s.

    @13 The shooter has been ID’d as a 73-year-old former Grand Dragon of the Carolina Ku Klux Klan, who was well known to the Southern Poverty Law Center as a virulent blogger who advocated exterminating Jews.
