Deuteronomy 7
When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you- and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles and burn their idols in the fire. For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
Discuss.
Deathfrogg spews:
So, God is a conservative republican.
Pat L spews:
Is that an Asherah pole, or are you glad….?
Jack spews:
So that’s where the “God’s chosen people” stuff comes from.
Puddybud - The ONE and Only spews:
Goldy,
While you like to make fun of the Bible through your Sunday ridicule, especially those books your ancestors held dear; you realize you’d wouldn’t be here to criticize these verses if God didn’t look out for the Israelite ancestors back in Moses day. Puddy wonders why you choose Sunday and not the Sabbath?
Just something to remember when you take your daughter out to the zoo or to a restaurant!
God spews:
Hmm
And look at how much less blood thirsty the Christians were after claiming I fathered a son by one of their women and then crucified him for my pleasure!
Goldy spews:
@4 I didn’t “make fun” of the Bible. All I did was quote it. Verbatim. Without comment.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@6 Of course you’re making fun of the Bible. Which doesn’t require anything more than quoting it verbatim. Without comment.
Of course, too, you’re making fun of people who quote the Bible verbatim and take it literally. Without thinking.
You didn’t call them “Bible thumpers.” You didn’t have to.
better spews:
6. Reminds me of republicans who hate having their record quoted back at them..
God spews:
Imagine the fun I could have with excerpts from HA!
But then Goldy does not claim to be perfect, merely prophetic.
Porter Browning spews:
Right!
As we already knew, everything the jews have they stole. They have no claim to Palestine at all, and they should be driven into the Med and drowned.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@10 It’s not hard to think of people in our own country who should be drowned. Better yet, they should go drown themselves.
Jack spews:
10
You are in the need of some serious psychological help.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@8 You mean like asking Scott Walker where are the 250,000 jobs he promised?
God spews:
@10
Yes the Jews stole everything
They stole your bible too!

I Want My Christianity Back – Without the Ugly Baggage
“Telling someone I’m a Christian means I must immediately follow it up with, “but not that kind of Christian.” It’s like saying, “Yeah, sure, these are some mind bogglingly ugly suitcases, but I’ve got the coolest stuff on the inside of them. No, really, I do.””

Givcn the debate in many western countries about shrouded women, an interesting chapter to discuss might be Genesis 38, the story of Tamar & Judah, esp verse 15.
Mark Adams spews:
Darn no ancient astronauts in this passage. It’s interesting that these former slaves out of Egypt took on and defeated such powerful Kingdoms. The middle east has been a land of war even in ancient times and the first recorded battle is in Israel. These slaves were absolutely ruthless in a land that demanded hard people. Too bad there are so many hard people there yet today. Maybe Pharaoh should have kept these warrior slaves in his camp and defeated these potential enemies of Egypt, though they did go and do it on their own. These slaves leave Egypt with cattle, gold, ect. Become battle hardened conquering Og and committing what we would call crimes against humanity and ISIS would call just doing business. So it’s was and is a brutal place. Of course it’s the people who are brutal with the permission of whatever god they pray too. Makes you wonder when folks call for that old time religion just what they mean.
