If a man takes a wife and, after lying with her, dislikes her and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” then the girl’s father and mother shall bring proof that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate. The girl’s father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, and the elders shall take the man and punish him. They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver, and give them to the girl’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death.

You man think that this is merely about sex, but it’s not. It’s about all those acres of land. And frankly when there are tokens involved and that in a more tribal environment that the brides mom and dad are right outside the tent or in the next room or mom is in the room (talk about performance anxiety on the grooms part) then RR’s comments on flimsy proof does not fly. No blood on the token means she was not a virgin. Which is why sometimes a bit of sheep blood went into the bridal chamber. Hope the guy loves her, or is in on it, and does not care she is a virgin. This is about property, and honor as much as about sex. In a small tribal based culture these things are important and human beings do what they need to survive.

@5 No read your bible. The 10 year old becomes his wife. He is allowed to have a harem. If he refuses to marry the 10 year old then he can be stoned. 10 year olds are close to be considered adults, which traditionally is 13.
@3 I doubt that you build stone walls either. Perhaps in the Calvinist American tradition if you kept your hands busier and were not desecrating gods most perfect temple than you would know what stoning is, and would not have time (because of all the good works your hands are doing) to have any fear of being stoned. In days of yore you would never hear a Jewish matriarch tell their son to find a nice Catholic girl to marry. After the 2008 economic downturn and so many of those college graduates returning to the nest you now hear the phrase: “I wish you would find a nice Catholic girl to marry!” Sometimes followed by: “or any girl! any woman!, even a nice gay boy! Your father and I would really like you out of here and I’m tired of doing your laundry!!!

You are one sick person if you think what the pastor did was a good thing, and even worse because you hide behind the written words of fiction to say it was permissible. Ever hear of the “age of consent”? An adult taking advantage of a child like that deserves to go to prison and meet their fate.
