This law of the Torah should be measured against the events at the University of VA. Apparently a woman there was raped but blamed it on the wrong folks. Biology (MY responsibility) does not always agree with taboos and laws YOU make.

Oddly women in Jewish and Christian cultures do not have similar rules. It wouldn’t matter if the Virgin was stark naked (other than some other Jewish law being broken) they both would have been stoned to death. Though you aren’t supposed to plow your filed with an ass and ox (probably good advice, but do you really need a law) or wearing linen and wool. Bit unclear if these are stoning offenses though. Probably. So are these laws inspired by God? These laws look man inspired.
Though stoning does mean everyone in the village gets everyone involved in the homicide of another human being. No wonder certain grand juries have a problem with showing cause against some members of our society. So are we all responsible for the actions of those individuals now as if we all had picked up stones and stoned a man for selling cigarettes, a child waving around a toy pistol, or a man walking down the middle of the street. Or is it these prosecutors just are poor prosecutors still they will likely be reelected. So does the “We” as in “We the people” apply? How?
