Arizona’s leading newspaper printed an editorial today criticizing that state’s two GOP senators, John McCain and Jon Kyle, for sitting on their hands about immigration reform.
The Arizona Republic, in a full-page editorial, said the federal government has abrogated its responsibility to control the border. The paper said, “Arizona politicians are pandering to public fear. The result is a state law that intimidates Latinos while doing nothing to curb illegal immigration.”
In addition to McCain and Kyle, the editorial named GOP Gov. Jan Brewer and rightwing sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The editorial said reform should include a way for undocumented immigrants to earn citizenship, secure the borders, and impose tough sanctions on employers who hire illegals. Which sounds to me a lot like the Democratic immigration reform agenda.
