Clark County bubble still not coming back.
The 13.4 percent is the highest jobless figure for the county since at least 1980, said Scott Bailey, southwest regional economist for the state Employment Security Department.
Apparently having one’s economy heavily dependent on endless real estate development isn’t a good idea.
But it’s just a blip, things will go back to the way they were any day now.
Me, I’m thinking I need a 5,000 square foot house with granite counter tops, full of furniture paid for with unsecured credit. I mean, a dog or a baby can get a credit card, right?
ByeBye GOP spews:
Very interesting – is it just a fluke that all the counties listed in the linked story (which have crazy high unemployment) have PUBLICAN control over their county government?
You vote for Publicans – you get shit. And that’s what they deserve. I am THRILLED to hear of the right wingers being in deep trouble. Let em fucking fade away as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t see why rabbits who live in 120-square-inch holes with dirt floors should pay a penny of taxes to bail out people who live in 5,000-square-foot mansions with granite countertops and the greedy bankers who loaned other people’s money to them. That’s socialism for the rich!
Corporate Conservatives are Evil spews:
It doesn’t seem that things will change until the economy restructures and the government that represents us and not corporations, changes the rules, so we make things here in the states, instead of overseas.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Trouble is, it isn’t the greedy Republicans who are unemployed in those counties. It’s always the working class that takes it in the shorts for what the capitalist class does.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@3 If Stefan can fine King County $225,000 for overlooking a few of the 600,000+ public documents he demanded, then I should be allowed to fine private companies $225,000 for call center operators who can’t speak English! What’s good for gummint is good for private enterprise! Private companies shouldn’t get special privileges or immunities that bureaucrats don’t have.
ArtFart spews:
3 You got it…it appears from the half-assed measures undertaken so far, that we’re going to have to learn the hard way that our economy isn’t a “high-bottom drunk”. My prediction is that we’re going to keep giving it sips from the government hip flask until even that’s empty, then we’re going to see some real hard times.
Seems nobody’s gonna learn a thing until they gets a good whuppin’.
Corporate Conservatives are Evil spews:
The way I see it, to make it work, we all have to lower our standard of living some, to accept that things will cost more, so that everyone who wants to work, can find a job with a living wage.
But if we keep demanding that we get the cheapest goods regardless of the consequences, our money will flow to the 3rd world countries and we are screwed. Short term party, long term depression. Kind of like the last 30 years, since Reagen got elected.
ArtFart spews:
7 The other potential outcome is that we’ll mess things up so badly that the Chinese and Indians and Malaysians and Russians will be better off than us, and we’ll be the ones working in sweatshops making shit for them.

Amen.
