Two of the ways Darcy Burner plans to make our “efforts” in Iraq more effective is to audit contractors and take back any money they’ve overcharged us and if they have completed their work in a substandard way to take the money back. And no more no-bid contracts – because that’s un-American, bad business practice and worthy only of a totalitarian state.
Why do you want to be an apologist for these Republican traitors? I think it’s because of hate and bile and the fact that you never get laid.

Oh sweet little Lucy where have you been these last few years? The war on terror was declared by Congress and approved by almost all the members except for a few hold outs. The President of the United States cannot declare war on a nation without their consent, except under certain conditions and this conflict did not fall under those rules. Now looting is a criminal charge and you cannot prove that and all the resources used in this war is approve by the friends you sent to Washington. Now those contractors you are talking about were bidding on the projects that I was involved in when I was in South West Asia. Those that were not under a global contract that was awarded before the war and you made no attempt place your bid. Sounds like your miss a great opportunity Lucy. Now Darcy Burner has yet to present a valid Plan on how to win the War on Terror and that would require it to be Global and not Tactical. Communicating like Flipper on this subject matter is the best she can do with her exposure to the problems that this country face today. Is Flakey Klake still spouting this crap? I answered this on a previous thread. The answer is, the GOP majority in the state senate blocked transportation funding for 10 years, that’s why. After the voters cleaned out that nest and a Democratic legislature met in Jan. 2005, the Democrats got the job done in one session. Then what did the GOPers do? They tried to repeal the funding for hundreds of critical transportation projects (many of them in eastern Washington) with an initiative that wouldn’t have saved motorists a single penny at the pump! Dotzauer’s Personal Contributions Came From His Firm
Friday, October 06, 2006
Maria Cantwell’s personal and professional relationship with Lobbyist Ron Dotzauer has been questioned and scrutinized for purported quid-pro-quos between the two long-time friends. Now it appears Dotzauer breached FEC rules in 1994 by receiving money from his firm to make personal donations to Cantwell. David Postman from the Seattle Times reports, “It’s always fascinating to get a glimpse into the world of political high finance. At Sound Politics Stefan Sharkansky has a 1994 court document from lobbyist Ron Dotzauer’s divorce that says his personal campaign donations were paid with, in part at least, money he got from his firm for that purpose. Dotzauer’s personal and lobbying relationship with Sen. … I just spoke to FEC spokeswoman Michelle Ryan. The FEC will not talk about specific cases or examples that have not been adjudicated by the commission. But she said that in general, it is not allowed to for corporations to give money to employees for the purpose of making political donations. ‘That would still be considered an indirect corporate contribution or a contribution in the name of another. Certainly that would appear to be the use of corporate funds for a political purpose, so it would still fall under the prohibition.'”

My real concern is that we Democrats tend to agree with this while we are out of power, but once we’re in the majority it gets forgotten. Republicans seem to have had the same problem.

Maria Cantwell: “I’m Maria Cantwell, and I approved this message because a good education today, means a better job tomorrow. “There are big problems in Washington, D.C. – big problems that need to be addressed.
We have a Senate that is spending uncontrollably and will not address the most important issues facing our country today, like a national debt of $8.5 trillion, a Social Security system that is going broke, and the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.
Incumbents across the country are now back in their home states and have begun pointing fingers at everyone but themselves for the lack of progress and compromise. Make no mistake – Maria Cantwell is part of this. Recently, when Cantwell had the opportunity to work out a compromise that would allow Washingtonians to deduct our sales tax when paying income taxes next year, she voted no. As of right now, we will not be able to deduct our sales tax in April.
What’s worse is that Maria Cantwell voted for the 2nd time against building a fence along portions of our border with Mexico. Congress has failed to address the issue of immigration reform, and Cantwell’s opposition of this common-sense security provision is not moving us in the right direction toward comprehensive immigration reform.
Maria Cantwell votes with her party over 90 percent of the time. Specifically, when it came to the sales tax deduction vote, Maria Cantwell put her party bosses ahead of the citizens of Washington state. Doesn’t it seem to you that senators today are more concerned about partisan posturing and finger-pointing than they are about meeting the needs of the people they were elected to represent?”

Another fucking McGavick campaign ad lie! The blame for losing the sales tax deduction falls squarely on the GOP, and no one else. And if McGavick becomes a U.S. Senator, he will put his party bosses ahead of our state’s citizens 100% of the time.

Back to our normally scheduled arguing.
The “trifecta” bill was loaded down with many of the Republican’s favorite “give to the rich” programs. Ms. Cantwell voted against it because, in her opinion, the negatives outweighed the positive aspects. I happen to agree with her.
Look, if someone wrote a bill that brought back the sales tax and tuition deductions, but also included a provision that allowed small children to be sold into slavery, would you hold her vote against it against her? I know that the Republican talking points would, but hopefully you are able to think beyond them.
That bill was designed to be a win-win for the NeoCon Republicans. They didn’t really expect it to pass, but wrote it so that they could get a bunch of good campaign ads out of it. It contained provisions that they knew that they could never get through Congress otherwise, because even some of their own party members were against them, but the “majority of the majority” wanted them, so that travesty was written in order to make the attempt. I’d say “nice try”, but that was one of the more shameful abuses of power I’ve seen in recent days.
And thankfully, we’ve been pretty successful at getting that word out to the voting public.

You know, Mark, if you read the entire article you linked to, it is pretty specific that you cannot use a single year as any sort of yardstick.
“Here’s what I think we here understand about Hurricane Katrina and global warming. Yes, it is true that no single hurricane can be blamed on global warming. Hurricanes have come for a long time, and will continue to come in the future. Yes, it is true that the science does not definitively tell us that global warming increases the frequency of hurricanes – because yes, it is true there is a multi-decadal cycle, twenty to forty years that profoundly affects the number of hurricanes that come in any single hurricane season. But it is also true that the science is extremely clear now, that warmer oceans make the average hurricane stronger, not only makes the winds stronger, but dramatically increases the moisture from the oceans evaporating into the storm – thus magnifying its destructive power – makes the duration, as well as the intensity of the hurricane, stronger.”
Of course, if you just read far enough to find your talking points, deliberately avoiding actually understanding the article, then you could come to the conclusions that you have written.
One other point written in the article was A hundred years ago, Upton Sinclair wrote, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon him not understanding.”

The Lying Welsher is full of shit when he claims I denied there’s a link between cutting taxes and subsequent increases in federal revenue. Take a reading comprehension course, moron! Here is what I said:
A tax rate of zero produces zero revenue. A tax rate of 100% also produces zero revenue, because it destroys all incentives for economic activity. There is a tax rate somewhere between zero and 100% that maximizes revenue. If the tax rate is below that point, cutting taxes results in less revenue. If the tax rate is above that point, cutting taxes increases revenue.

We have a Republican majority and the ship has hit the rocks because we have too many self-described “Democrats” who think like you. You are an idiot.

A famous actress of the time wrote to George Bernard Shaw suggesting they get married. “Just think,” she gushed, “if our children had my looks and your brains!”
Shaw wrote back, “But what if they have my looks and your brains?”
Well, in the end, Shaw couldn’t help himself, and married the sexpot anyway. They had a son, and named him John Craig Herman.

Hmmm, no one has mentioned yet in this thread that Bush’s aproval rating is at 33% in the new Newsweeek poll?
And Darcy’s ad tying Dave Reichert hand and foot to Bush and his disaters comes out at just the same time. Bravo.
Bye Dave. It’s been real.
Daddy Love spews:
Oh, and (same poll) 53% of Americans want the Democrats to win control of Congress next month, including 10% percent of Republicans. Only 35 percent want the GOP to retain power, and we know who they are: the slightly retarded 30-35% who will never desert their corrupt, insane party no matter how incompetent, no matter how batshit crazy they get.

Darcy is really cute . I saw her add on tv the other day. I don’t have cable so I don’t watch tv very often.

100% lovely Democrat cities: Detroit, Gary, South Central LA, and Harare, Zinbabwe. Not an evil Republican around for miles to ruin the Democrat fun of murder, rape, crack, coke, dope, drugs, welfare, and trashing “guvment” and Section 8 housing. All great places for you HA.ORG posters to visit at night with your families!!!!!

ST. PAUL, Minn. — It may seem like a distant memory now, but Democrats not so long ago dominated the battle between the parties to get their voters to the polls. Over the past half-dozen years, Republicans reinvented the system, using sophisticated computer modeling and vast amounts of consumer data. In 2002 and 2004, they demonstrated their newfound superiority — to the dismay of Democratic Party officials and their allies. […..How to get Democrats to the polls? Food stamps, KFC, cocaine, cases of Marlboros, and Black Velvet.]

“Dotzauer’s Personal Contributions Came From His Firm”
That’s a misleading headline. Based on your report, what we KNOW is that Shark has a document from what was apparently a very acrimonious divorce in which the wife makes all kinds of claims, including this one about corporate money behind Dotzauer’s campaign contributions. I have yet to see ANY independent confirmation of any one of the aggrieved ex-wife’s claims. Have you?
And, of course, what Dotzauer may or may not have done in this regard has no bearing on Maria Cantwell’s candidacy. But you don’t haave anything on her, do you? That’s why the trumped-up attacks on her friend.

You may want to re-read the divorce entry again. It was Dotzaeur’s claim, not the Ex-wife’s.

The sentence was “At Sound Politics Stefan Sharkansky has a 1994 court document from lobbyist Ron Dotzauer’s divorce that says his personal campaign donations were paid with, in part at least, money he got from his firm for that purpose.”
No link to orignial source was included. As I sid, BASED ON HIS REPORT, this is what we know.
Do you have a link to an original source?
