    Arizona Woman Shoots a Registered Sex Offender Who Tried To Climb In Through Her Window

    A 54-year-old woman living just outside of Tucson, Arizona didn’t really want to have to shoot a neighbor to tried to force entry to her residence, but the man didn’t give her many options. Living by herself, she didn’t have anyone else to help her repel the would-be intruder. She did have a handgun, though, and he availed herself to the great equalizer.

    The would-be intruder, a 42-year-old registered sex offender named Jayson Magrum, apparently didn’t care that she’d gotten her gun and told him to stop. Maybe he didn’t think she’d use it. She even fired a warning shot as he tried to crawl in through a window. Even after the shot, Magrum reached in and tried to disarm the woman.

    That’s when she shot him. At point-blank range, the pistol proved itself as a great equalizer, ending the attack. The sex offender collapsed after a few more steps and will re-offend no more.

    Well, not exactly all debts. PPP loans don’t necessarily have to be repaid. Indebted corporations are allowed to discharge their debts in bankruptcy yet stay in business. Even credit card debtors can lose their debt in bankruptcy court, and giant retailers like Macy’s expect to write off a certain amount of credit card debt because overall it’s highly profitable to push more merch out to door to people who can’t really afford it. And, of course, a lot of court-ordered debts like fines and child support go unpaid.

    In fact, it’s extremely rare to require ironclad, no-exceptions debt repayment. The only example I can think of is student loan debt, which uniquely among all debts is said to cause earth-shattering, life-as-we-know-it-ending moral hazard if it’s not repaid.

    Get ready for a recession stretching into Fall 2024.

    One of the reasons Americans were able to continue spending even as price inflation raged was they saved a lot of money during the pandemic lockdowns. But those savings are nearly depleted, according to a study released by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

    Aggregate savings peaked at $2.1 trillion in August 2021. As of June, the San Francisco Fed estimated that aggregate savings had dropped to $190 billion.

    In other words, Americans have blown through $1.9 trillion in savings in just two years.

    American consumers pulled $100 billion per month on average from savings beginning in 2022. Unless this trend reverses, excess savings will be completely depleted sometime this quarter.

    And when they run out of savings they slather on the credit card debt, now over $1 trillion.

    The number of companies warning about payment delinquencies in their conference calls with analysts has spiked.

    Robinhood Dumbfuck Rabbit, if repayment of student loan debt was not guaranteed, what would be the interest rate necessarily charged for a loan to a student who wants an art degree?

    Same question, for a student who wants an engineering degree?

    If we want student loans made beginning this Fall to be non-guaranteed, the lenders should be able to revise interest rates and repayment terms accordingly.

    Silly degrees in XXXXXXXXX Studies should have repayment terms several interest rate points higher than STEM degree repayment terms. And add on an additional 5 interest rate percentage points if the borrower claims to be non-binary.

    It conceivably might rise to, say, a third of credit card interest rates. Some unsecured loans are a better bet than others, while other unsecured loans are simply lucrative profit centers.

    Solzhenitsyn was arrested and sentenced to eight years in the Gulag and then internal exile for criticizing authoritarian Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in a private letter.

    Vaclav Havel’s political activities brought him under the surveillance of the conservative authoritarian secret police, and he spent multiple periods as a political prisoner for standing up against the authoritarians.

    Nelson Mandela was arrested and imprisoned in 1962, and, following the Rivonia Trial, was sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the conservative authoritarian apartheid state.

    Trump was arrested for trying to overthrow the democratically elected government and establish an authoritarian dictatorship.

    The first four are revered for fighting fascists and authoritarians.
    Trump is hated because he tried to be a fascist authoritarian.
