According to USA Today, one trucking company even encouraged its workers to physically assault drivers who supported the union, which was conducting an organizing drive.

And California was on the path to single payer but the corporate Democrats killed that.
So we got Democrats acting more like Republicans and they know about this situation in the port, and frankly except for the courts only the legislature can help the drivers.

There are no democratic southern states explain that. There are no strong unions in the south. Explain that Right-to-work. Keeps wages down and profits up. Explain that Mark-o.
@6 Unions are unpopular in the southern states. Unions have never managed to get more than a toehold in the south. Southern Democrats have always been more conservative than northern Democrats, and when they were in power stomped on Unions as hard as any Northern fat cat Republican. There are from time to time opportunities for workers to Unionize in southern factories (even some Republicans recognize clear advantages in workers being in a Union as it makes for a better workforces that is more productive) still a more than century long economic, cultural, and political has created attitudes in the south that are clearly anti labor unions. Some area such as West Virginian have been exceptions.
So unlike fried chicken, chitlins, sun tea, and moonshine being a member of a Union will get you ostracized in large parts of the south should your neighbors find out.
