    Plenty of unattended and vacant “weekend” getaways surrounded by dense forest. Nothing is easier to steal then an outboard. $10,000 retail for a 75 hp. You can rig a hoist onto any pickup and just back it right up to the boat trailer. Gobs of YouTube videos show the process. Heck, steal the whole boat if you like. Most assholes don’t lock their hitch. And bolt cutters are $25. But boats on trailers are much harder to sell without risk. Boats don’t really retain much value. They have registration numbers. They get reported stolen to the DMV. And sale involves title, etc.

    You can sell a motor at a yard sale.

Essentially, it means the risk is reduced by 44%, which is a subtantial reduction. A relative risk of 1.48 means the risk is increased. In this case, a relative risk of 1.48 means the risk of heart failure is 148% of what it would be in the comparison group. Essentially it means the risk is increased by 48%, a substantial increase.

    A U.S.-born citizen who was wrestled into the dirt, handcuffed and detained in a vehicle as part of an immigration raid had a REAL ID on him that was dismissed as fake, the man’s cousin said Friday.

    DSHS responded by accusing him of obstruction:

    “He physically got in between agents and the subject they were attempting to arrest and refused to comply with numerous verbal commands,” said Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary. “Anyone who actively obstructs law enforcement in the performance of their sworn duties, including U.S. citizens, will of course face consequences which include arrest.”

    But he denies that, apparently the obstruction was he took out his phone and began recording them arresting someone else, at which point an ICE agent “took it and threw it to the ground and then an agent began grabbing him.” So apparently he was detained and roughed up because they didn’t like being recorded. I believe him, and don’t believe them.

    ICE is rapidly getting a very bad reputation. No one wants to cooperate with them. They’re being called “Trump’s Gestapo” in social media and are becoming pariahs. And they deserve it.

    CBP isn’t much better. I’m reading stories of U.S. citizens being detained and harassed at border crossings. They’re treating ordinary travelers like criminals. I think it’s going to discourage travel outside the U.S., and maybe that’s intentional.

    I think it’s important for people, including MAGA folks, to realize that citizenship doesn’t protect them from ICE and CPB abuses, and no one including them and any of us is safe from arbitrary detention and physical abuse.

    What’s more, I think they’re intentionally abusive. They want these stories to go public, because they’re trying to discourage frighten immigrants from coming to the U.S. and frighten those already here, whether legally or not, into “self-deporting.”

    It amazes me that Republicans and even people in the media still manage to talk about this administration as if it’s somehow normal and things are just politics as usual.

    I get that if you’re a GOP politician you have to get on the fascism train or lose your career, but nobody ever promised tough choices would be easy.

    I think we have to hold all who go along accountable and not accept “Fat Hitler ordered me to do it” as an excuse. That didn’t save Eichmann, and it shouldn’t save these jellyfish.
