Trump offered hearts and prayers, and Vance told us to accept school massacres as a “fact of life.” Harris and Walz said we can and will do something about it. P.S., it wasn’t the Democrats who saturated our society with guns and gave disturbed children access to them. Republicans and Democrats are not the same.

    Just to be clear, the vast, vast, VAST majority of content creators on YouTube do it on spec, going out-of-pocket for all production costs, investing all the time to write, shoot, caption, and edit their own videos in the faint hope that they might be able to monitize the content through ad placements and perhaps through Patreon begging.

    But the most prominent of alt-Right streaming media influencers got guaranteed cash money up front, over and above whatever they could generate on their own. I’m not going to pretend that a ten minute YouTube video isn’t many hours of effort. It’s not like Russia was paying them $600,000 an hour. But they were absolutely paying them thousands of dollars an hour. More than enough to cover all their overhead and live like Sultans.

    Of course they knew it was Russian money. They could see that from the very outset from all the conference calls, Zoom chats, and emails naming the money backers and investors. And it’s not as if the fake identities given for managing investors was difficult to discover. Nor the connections between the real principals involved and Russian spy agencies. The fakery provided them with faintly plausible deniability, at least sufficient to jerk off media inquiries and gullible dipshit followers like Scotty P.

    But they knew. The money told them.

    The lower court judge agreed with her in a ruling here.
    The court of appeals reversed that ruling in an order here.
    The statutes are linked in the comment below.

    One of these statutes prohibits RFK Jr.’s withdrawal; the other does not. The question is which of these statutes applies. That’s a subject on which even judges disagree, as these two orders demonstrate. As such, it’s hardly a political machination to keep RFK Jr. on the ballot to disadvantage Trump. But in Dumbfuck’s tiny mind, it’s “lawfare.”

    “Lawfare” is not a legal term of art. It’s not even an English vocabulary word. It’s a bullshit term invented by Republicans which reduced to vernacular roughly means, “It’s unfair to enforce laws against us, because we’re sovereign citizens!”

    By the way, the SoS has appealed the court of appeals ruling in RFK Jr.’s favor to the state supreme court, so this isn’t over yet. After reading the statutes, I think the court of appeals may be right, but we’ll see. There may be some case law I don’t know about.
