2. There’s only one black man suspected of being involved in the death of Anne Pressly, and he wasn’t arrested until November 27 – three weeks after the election. Before then, no one knew what race the alleged attacker was, so why on Earth would anyone think to “downplay it” before the election?

I’ve long had the impression that anyone who’d want to work as a drug or vice cop has to be bent already. This is yet another in the great litany of evidence that supports said impression, with precious little evidence to the contrary.

Are you telling me that the police in Little Rock, AR knew who the suspect was in a high-profile murder of a TV personality, yet waited for over 3 weeks to announce it because of the election? since you refuse to believe that the police can be corrupt unless its to victimize a minority, let me take a different approach. the murder of ann pressley was given very little coverage in the msm, in contrast , the murder of matthew shepard was wall to wall 24/7. the msmm wants to make all non white,non christian, non hetero oppressed victims.

I can not believe what I’ve been reading on your blog. You who do not even live in Arkansas, let alone Little Rock spew this garbage. I knew Anne Pressly and I was one of the first news photojournalists on the scene. None of you knows what you are talking about. This case has rocked our world here in ways you can not imagine. All our female reporters are scared to death even though the perp is caught. The was only one’ not two like all you rumor-mill generators have said. You need to stick to talking about things in your own communities. Then maybe you might know what you are talking about. Your blog title says it all. Just to be clear, the commenter at #1 obviously does not represent this blog. We have open comments, which means that any idiot can leave remarks here. If there’s anything that I’ve written about the Pressly case that’s incorrect, you’re more than welcome to email me (click the link to my name at the top of this post) and let me know.
IMO opinion this is a very, very sad incident. The officers need to be, at the very least, retrained or taken off duty… Their SA is total shit.

Hey RS, I think your link is broken there, but I don’t think anyone is insinuating that a police officer doesn’t have a dangerous job. That’s obvious. But the thing that bothers me so much about this particular case is the brazenness over which they don’t feel any need to atone for a genuine (and horrible) mistake.

A man charged in connection with a police officer’s death made his first court appearance on Monday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Mabry Joseph Landor III is accused of killing Houston Police Officer Timothy Abernethy on Sunday.
Houston police said Abernethy, 43, stopped Landor on suspicion of a traffic violation in the 5800 block of Sunforest Drive near West Tidwell Road at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Detectives said Landor, 28, got out of an SUV and ran though a nearby apartment complex, ran around a corner and hid behind a bin, waiting for Abernathy.
When Abernethy came around the corner, Landor shot him in the head, investigators said.
Police said that after the shooting, Landor stood over the dying officer, pointed his gun and tried to shoot Abernethy several more times. “
Believe me, I do not approve of what was done to that little girl. If it turns out that the officers involved broke from their SOP and acted outside the law, they should be held accountable. My point is that we certainly don’t know all the details…What details did the arresting officers have about the suspects? We don’t know what assumptions they were operating under. Again, all that said, it certainly looks like these officers are in big time trouble, their SA was total FUBAR and that poor girl will never forget what happened to her…..

I could just as easily say that we don’t know all the details for the story you posted either. That said, I tend to believe that the reality of both stories are pretty close to what they seem: one, an instance of police officers exhibiting completely unreasonable behavior; another, an instance of a police officer being killed in cold blood.
The fact that both of these things can and do happen in this country isn’t contradictory in any way.
What details did the arresting officers have about the suspects?
This is where the Dymond Milburn story is arguably the most damning. Apparently, the officers were looking for white prostitutes when they tried to apprehend Milburn (a 12-year-old black girl). If that’s true, I don’t see how the police have any leg to stand on. We’ll see as this case unfolds.
