The Republican television celebrity quack running for US Senate in PA paid contractors to build a full court, hardwood basketball arena inside one of the nine luxury estates he owns in New Jersey.
John Fetterman, the Democrat in the race, found an abandoned vacant lot in Braddock and together with local volunteers built basketball courts for low income kids.
That’s why Fetterman leads by nine points.

Hard to argue with.
In the final analysis, the Conservative says: “If you elect me, I will hurt the people you want to see hurt.”
Then if he is elected, he makes an earnest attempt to hurt those people. If he hurts the people who voted for him in doing so, that is okay. They know what they are voting for. They are not stupid.
The Liberal says, “If you elect me, I will help the people you want to see helped.” Then they do not deliver.
Liberals believe that Conservatives have been tricked into voting against their own interests. The truth is rather more depressing: Conservatives know how to wield the power of the State. They know that politics is a dirty game full of dirty people doing dirty deals. They have no illusions about what is required to wield the power effectively, nor of doing so benevolently. Meanwhile Liberals prefer feigning not to know how the sausage is made.

Privatization of Social Security, criminalization of poverty, monetization of forced labor, mandatory school prayer, elimination of due process rights for the accused, criminalization of miscarriage and birth control, massive crippling federal deficits, massive expansion of militarized police presence in our communities, and unchecked Presidential power wielded to destroy any political opposition.
Our aims are entirely incompatible with theirs. And that’s been true for a long time now. Roger Rabbitspews:
@27 “the free money they were handed by Trump and the Democrats for months and months”
@29 You mean sell to oil companies that sell to Chinese-controlled companies that ship it overseas.
And, while you didn’t mention 5 million barrels, all the rightwing media jumping on this like hungry sharks did; they’re off by 4 million barrels. Only 1 million went to China after passing through the hands of registered purchases.
To wit: “Some conservatives conceded the point – at least in part. ‘Once oil is released from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves, current U.S. law allows for companies that are registered to purchase it to then sell it on the market, including to adversaries like China,’ said Heritage Foundation energy analyst Jack Spencer.”
But I’ll bet all those oil companies that bought the SPR oil and resold it to China are run by America-hating Democrats, amirite? They’re probably environmentalists, too, so the obvious motive behind this scheme was to make sure the SPR oil would pollute their air and not our air.

@41 Who wants to live in a state that collects taxes and doesn’t spend it on public services?
If you’d gone to graduate school in public administration, as I did, you’d know how budgets in the public sector are supposed to work. You identify a need. You come up with a cost to satisfy that need. You get an appropriation for that, then spend the appropriation satisfying the need.
For example, let’s say the legislature appropriates $100 million for mental health services for 50,000 state residents, and you’re in charge of managing the program. If you spend $20 million and deliver mental health services to 10,000 people, and the $80 million that should’ve been spent on services for the other 40,000 people ends up as an unspent budget surplus, you didn’t do your fucking job.

“‘Prosecutors say he was among the rioting crowd Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol, where he was photographed in military garb, a tactical vest and carrying surgical shears and zip ties. It seems two people with the same last name live at the same address. The person born in 1945 was summoned, but the person born in 1970 reported for jury duty and ended up on the jury.
Invalid verdict? Laches? I don’t know. The juror in question went through voir dire and apparently was otherwise qualified. Unless that juror lied, I think the judge could say Heard’s objection is untimely.

Where’s the celebration, from the right, on the great unemployment numbers?
“Yay.”
When people run out of the free money they were handed by Democrats for months and months, they have to go back to work.
More jobs “created”, First Vegetable Joe Biden can claim. I’ll let him.
G-clown, I will celebrate the upward adjustment on that loan you didn’t want to rate-lock on your second place. You know, the one that’s now 2% higher.

Price of gas is down 23 cents, nationally, in the last month. So noted.
In fact, oil is now sufficiently plentiful that we can raid our Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to sell to Chinese-controlled companies and to ship oil overseas. Who knows, the US might even reap a profit when it replenishes the stock at a lower per-barrel cost.
So, problem solved, and the price of gasoline should fall out of the top 2-3 concerns on the minds of voters any day now. Congrats!

I noticed nearly half the people who took Washington’s February bar exam didn’t pass.
After eliminating the LSAT from admissions consideration, the next barrier to fall is the bar exam. It’s a relic of the past, a symbol of racism.
Just as “urgency” in addressing a serious problem is white supremacy.
