But the ones I’m familiar with did it either in a bid to clean up their financial statements to court a buyout or IPO, or they got away with it because they had already achieved enough stability, ubiquity and reach across so many market sectors and uses that they could afford to stop innovating the products and just coast.
I don’t think either of those describes the BirdShite platform at all.
As dire as the internal situation for employees may be, I still think the BirdShite could survive all this. But I don’t think it will happen without a whole lot of people in tech and media recognizing just how limited the platform reach and utility really are.

They have to pay the same interest as when the bonds were issued. In 1993 Disney issued 100-year bonds, although I’m sure those have all been called by now.
What you probably meant to write is that they can stop issuing debt if they don’t like higher rates. The debt they have already issued is now at submarket rates, and they have absolutely zero reason to pay down debt issued at, say 2%, when rates are now at 4.5%.
