First in the Nation

by Carl Ballard — Thursday, 12/8/11, 9:39 pm

With the Iowa Caucus coming up it may be too late for Washington to jockey for poll position in this contest. But with our legislature in special session and not really doing anything about the budget, I say let the legislators loose. While a few legislators from a few committees from both houses and the Governor’s budget people figure out what’s going to happen, the rest of the legislators can do useless crap.

I say hold a primary early next month, but call it the first in the nation contest for 2016. Sure, it’s a little strange, to have the 2016 contest before the 2012 one, but we’re having them earlier and earlier, so they were going to catch up eventually. And it’s no stranger than giving Iowa and New Hampshire the first in the nation status.

    This might be a first in the nation as well. UC Davis has a webpage keeping people up to date on what’s going on protest wise and on the inquests into the seasoning of some of their students.

    Following the campus protests in recent weeks, Dutton Hall is still being occupied and tents remain on the Quad. Every effort is being made to ensure that students, faculty and staff have full access to resources and support services across campus.

    The following list offers key phone numbers for information on services and facilities that are currently being impacted:

    Presidents should be chosen like Dalai Lamas. Pick some kid shortly after birth, then spend 60 years training him before he gets the job.

    Carl,
    Great idea. Our state is about as progressive as progressive gets (assuming we elect Jay Inslee as
    Governor), so why shouldn’t we drive the national agenda? Elizabeth Warren for President in 2016!

    @3
    I’ve always seen our state’s liberalism as only skin deep. Scratch the surface and you see the internment of Japanese-Americans (FDR was acting at the behest of locals), the Silver Shirts, The KKK, Neo-Nazis, the developmentally disabled being excluded from public schools (special ed came to Seattle thanks to a lawsuit) Wallingford liberals that would be horrified to be grouped together with blue collar Dems from Renton or Bremerton, a governor and the Democratic head of state senate that tried to sick the state patrol on union members and gut environmental laws. I could go on, but you get the picture.

    Maybe we need to plan a repeat of our 2008 first-in-the-nation precinct caucus (it was held the night before the Iowa caucuses).

    Either do a very early Democratic caucus for 2016 or *snicker* a 2012 Republican caucus.

    Hey Roger DOPEY Rabbit…

    DUMMOCRAPT Representative Emanuel “Satan Sandwich” Cleaver… you know the black minister in congress said the bill was flawed. Maybe he sees Pelosi getting some more of that CBS identified crony-capitalism insider trading wealth in da future with the existing bill. “That’s what we do!”

    I enjoyed watching Maxine Waters’ face while Mr Cleaver was making his “point”.
