Have they no shame? Uh… apparently not:
At a meeting with staff of the special House committee looking into Katrina preparations today, the disgraced and displaced former FEMA director said he had rejoined the agency as a consultant to “provide a review” of how the agency functioned before, during, and after the storm. This according to two congressional sources.
A congressional aide told NBC News nobody’s sure

Mike Brown’s FEMA Director resignation on 09/12/2005 apparently doesn’t take him off the payroll for another two weeks — which would apparently be 10/10/2005 or so. During these four extra weeks, Mike Brown is apparently getting paid his previous FEMA salary, and required to provide various advice and consultation to FEMA — but Paulison is running the agency right now.

Probably isn’t so bad to give the joker four weeks of severance pay in exchange for getting rid of him. A lot cheaper than paying him as an hourly consultant.

Animal activist pleads guilty in McDonald’s fire
Man admits setting blaze in ’03
By PAUL SHUKOVSKY
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER
An animal rights activist who torched a Seattle McDonald’s restaurant in the name of “our furry brothers” pleaded guilty to a federal charge of arson Monday.
Christopher McIntosh, 23, of Maple Shade, N.J., admitted climbing onto the roof of the McDonald’s across the street from the Space Needle on Jan. 20, 2003, and setting it ablaze. The Seattle Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire, which caused about $5,000 in damage.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Friedman told the court that after setting the fire, McIntosh called the Seattle arson tip line and left a message claiming the fire bombing was committed by “ELF-ALF.” The Earth Liberation Front and Animal Liberation Front are closely allied, underground groups that use violent means to protest what they see as sprawling development, environmental degradation and animal exploitation.
Friedman quoted from McIntosh’s message in which he said “there was an E-L-F-A-L-F hit at McDonald’s across from the Space Needle. … There will be more. … There will be more. As long as Mother Earth is pillaged, raped, destroyed. As long as McDonald’s keeps hurting our furry brothers, there will be more.”
Federal agents arrested McIntosh in Philadelphia in March. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force linked him to the arson after finding a fingerprint and DNA on a can of spray paint and sunglasses found at the fire.
Before pleading guilty, McIntosh raised his right hand to be sworn under oath and revealed the letters “H-A-T-E” tattooed onto four fingers.
In the gallery, three animal rights activists looked on, including Josh Harper, a defendant in a federal case that seeks to dismantle a group trying to stop a company that tests drugs and products on animals.
Also observing the proceedings were several members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Under terms of the plea agreement, McIntosh will be sentenced in December to eight to 10 years in a federal prison.
Another LEFTIST PINHEAD bites the dust.
Perhaps Goldy will start a vigil for this idiots release??
Mr. Cynical spews:
Mrs. Sheehan certainly doesn’t look like a grieving mother during her arrest. Sheehan’s group called the Park Service to tell them they were going to intentionally protest without a permit in hopes that several of her ilk would be arrested.
Sheehan had a huge smile on her face while protesting and being arrested. Grieving mother???? I was one of the few from the RIGHT who gave her some slack for her actions post-death of her son. But now, it is pretty clear that she is ENJOYING her grief….at taxpayers expense. Sad.

This post just shows how the left will take two sides of an issue in order to score political points. If Brown had disappeared from the scene they would criticize the fact that he was not being held accountable for his and FEMAs performance issues. Now that he is staying on to, among other things, testify in Congress, the left is again screaming. Why not embrace the opportunity to have dems skewer him in front of TV cameras and reporters?
I personally think Karl Rove engineered this to keep the left in a tizzy fit about an issue, once thought to be “the last hurrah of Bush and cronies”, that is for the most part fizzling in front of their eyes. Now for your continued entertainment, we interrupt this broadcast to report on a smiling Cindy Sheehan being arrested for breaking the law!

Brownie is spreading disinformation in front of the ‘investigation’ as we speak
He called out HorsesAss.org as the place that scooped the news about his resume – kudos to you!
They allowed him a 20+ minute preemptive strike to defend himself, and attack local and state gov’t
1st question – another attack on the governor and Mayor..
s-choir spews:
The fact of the matter is that FEMA’S response was inadequate and Brown was the head of FEMA at the time. The irresponsible and reckless defunding of both the levee project and FEMA over the course of this administration’s tenure is just more proof that the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party is not fit to govern because of their radical restructuring of government priorities to favor cronyism over performance
Calvin spews:
Congressman Jefferson (D LA) hopped in and basically ripped Brownie a new 1 – “Your top reasons of ‘I wish I had more press conferences and I wish I had gotten the Governor and the Mayor to sit down and agree’ just aren’t going to cut it”
Damn I wish Brownie was under oath
Kathleen spews:
Where does the buck stop? Who ultimately is to blame for the “Fema screwup of all time”???? The words of our “illustrious and eloquent” president come to mind, “Brownie, You’re doing a heckuva job!”
So when the deal goes sour, the president goes on “tour” to visit the site over and over, then again after Rita hit, to Texas and the response was beefed up, and FEMA director “Brownie” the “heckuva job-doer” is quietly sent back to DC to “debreif”. Then the man resigns instead of gets fired, and hes still on the payroll, for whatever reasons and now hes head of the team to look into what went wrong (which in and of itself is a screwup), in my opinion and its only my opinion, Michael Brown became a “convenient scapegoat” for our illustrious ELOQUENT president. On another note, after comments made by a Rapper on national tv, it was some awards show that didnt expect his comment and later cut it out, THEN and only then do we see our illustrious and ELOQUENT president in N.O. and Alabama shaking black hands and touseling little black heads. My guess is his actions were prompted by Mr Wests(whose accolades include “Smartest man in Rap today”) comment. Our President is the ONE person who COULDVE made a difference in the hours and days after Katrina hit, if he had said “Brownie, I want troops in there NOW, I dont want one more single life lost unnecessarily lost, or even if hed have put an executive order to the heads of the military to get help in there….it wouldve happened. Lives wouldve been saved. So I hold not M. Brown responsible, Ms Blanco or Mr Nagin responsible, i think the buck stops with our illustrious and ELOQUENT …..Commander In Chief.
again just my opinion. note here the word “eloquent” is used sarcastically for the unenlightened
StartThinking spews:
It’s funny how these liberal “blogs” claim to know the real story. I guess being blinded by your political affiliation is OK when there are so many of you running around. First I guess it would be important to say FEMA’s role is to “assist” local and state governments to “manage” a disaster. I guess most liberals don’t actually know that and since the local leadership in New Orleans, completely failed to begin managing the crisis, it makes sence to blame FEMA. Seems like the common liberal view is that FEMA is some Hollywood created organization with helicopters, doctors, fire trucks, and an Army of Sean Penn’s to act like they are making a difference. Truth is, FEMA has 3000 employees whose primary task is to help the local government manage a situation by providing federal assets that are requested. The point there is that the local and state government must request the asset before it gets provided. Since the liberal Governor and liberal Mayor… the ones responsible for the first response and ongoing crisis management don’t like each other, nothing was requested in a timely manor. They actually spent more time arguing with each other about what to do rather than doing anything at all. Then when the waters came… they ran for dry ground and gave up on their community… trashing FEMA as the one to blame. I think Brown will be an invaluable asset to understand what happened, the timelines, and what can be done better in the future. Of course for liberals… they would rather throw him under the bus because they know all too well that Mr. Brown… has the real facts that could point the finger… again…. squarely at the failed local and state (liberal) leadership.

This hearing is a witch hunt.. One interesting tidbit so far – The Nat’l Weather service first id’s NO as a target 56 hours before landfall – the existing NO plan for evacuation indicated that 72 hours was needed as I recall.. So the pooch was screwed before they even knew it
Please put Brownie under oath!

Thanks – I just heard that he is under oath – and Brownie just realized it (perhaps again?) himself – the chair said – ‘you are under oath’ – at which time Brownie rephrased his response to ‘are you saying under oath that you had enough assets from the feds’
He modified his ‘eys’ from earlier to ‘well, not all in a timely manner’
What a moron he be!
Kathleen spews:
Mr Brown is a scapegoat yes, and what a scared little goat. Blaming the “Liberal” eg “democrat” Mayor and Governor of LA, while he had no “problems” with the “Republican” Governors of Alabama and Mississippi…..(Deer in the headlights look) comment by Congressman (with white hair didnt catch his name)….but boy oh boy hes ripping M. Brown a new one for sure! I wonder if the President is going to comment on this or if hes going to distance himself from it (more damage control here) like he conveniently was not in DC last week during the anti-war protest, where all the ImpeachBush.org placards were plentiful and in full view of the cameras..(and people chanting “COWARD,LIAR, SAYIT A LITTLE LOUDER” over and over)i also wonder if he will STILL be out of town oct 6,7th and 8th for the Power of Parents Rally that will call for the removal of a dangerous neurotoxin from infants vaccines? Wonder where our illustrious and ELOQUENT Commander in Cheif will be then?

What was the big stink over NorEasterners being morally retrograde because of their numerous higher education institutions? NorEasterners have a much lower divorce rate than our red states.
Look also at the EU where the politics are far left while their education level is so high it dwarfs US education levels.

Sure FEMA failed in some aspects, but not in a racist way. And not in a deliverable way. Remember the Red Cross website and the Red Cross President saying on NAtional TV they were blocked in trying to deliver FEMA’s food and water? But then again if you be Calvin, you be a hateful speck of human flesh. The state governor orders the evacuations. Check your government laws buddy.

The latest on why Brownie is being re-hired as a consultant–it’s a payoff to keep him quiet about the Boy King’s drinking?
Link from an unsourced gossip from Jane Hamsher on the firedoglake blog http://firedoglake.blogspot.co.....0319897332
“…one of the above-mentioned folks called me this afternoon to say that according to sources within the Enquirer itself, the source for Bush’s drinking story is — an incredibly pissed-off, recently scapegoated head of a federal agency who thinks that BushCo. done him wrong.“
Curtis Love spews:
StartThinking @ 20
maybe you should start by reading the OMB report that says that
http://www.house.gov/judiciary.....t91205.pdf
“”This report closes the book on the BushAdministration’s attempts to evade accountability by shifting the blame to the Governor of Louisiana forthe Administration’s tragically sluggish response to Katrina. It confirms that the Governor did everything she could to secure relief for the people of Louisianaand the Bush Administration was caught napping at a critical time.”
In addition to finding that “…it would appear that the Governor did take the steps necessary to request emergency and major disaster declarations for the State of Louisiana in anticipation of Hurricane Katrina. (p.11)” “
Then FEMA took three to five days to respond AFTER the governor told the Fed that local resources were overwhelmed. Three to five dsays AFTER the president invoked the Stafford Act to declare a state of emergency, which freed FEMA to act NOT at the requestt of locals but “at their discretion” (text from President’s declaration). What was that again?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/.....01484.html
Well lefties look at this paragraph: “The Louisiana delegation has apparently devoted little thought to the root causes of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. New Orleans was flooded not because the Army Corps of Engineers had insufficient money to build flood protections, but because its money was allocated by a system of political patronage.”
And we all know who controls this state right, since 1935?
