Palin countered with a smile, “Say it ain’t so, Joe. There you go again, pointing backwards again. You prefaced your whole comment with the Bush administration,” She argued that Americans now need to “look forward.”
Stepping up the Republican ticket’s attacks on Senator Barack Obama, Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday seized on a report about Mr. Obama’s relationship with a former 1960s radical to accuse him of “palling around with terrorists.”

The Concern. An individual must be of unquestioned allegiance to the United States. The willingness to safeguard classified information is in doubt if there is any reason to suspect an individual’s allegiance to the United States.
Conditions that could raise a security concern and may be disqualifying include:
a. Involvement in any act of sabotage, espionage, treason, terrorism, sedition, or other act whose aim is to overthrow the Government of the United States or alter the form of government by unconstitutional means;
b. Association or sympathy with persons who are attempting to commit, or who are committing, any of the above acts;
c. Association or sympathy with persons or organizations that advocate the overthrow of the United States Government, or any state or subdivision, by force or violence or by other unconstitutional means;
d. Involvement in activities which unlawfully advocate or practice the commission of acts of force or violence to prevent others from exercising their rights under the Constitution or laws of the United States or of any state.
The Concern. When an individual acts in such a way as to indicate a preference for a foreign country over the United States, then he or she may be prone to provide information or make decisions that are harmful to the interests of the United States.
Conditions that could raise a security concern and may be disqualifying include:
…..
d. Accepting educational, medical, or other benefits, such as retirement and social welfare, from a foreign country;
i. Performing or attempting to perform duties, or otherwise acting, so as to serve the interests of another government in preference to the interests of the United States.
The Concern. Emotional, mental, and personality disorders can cause a significant deficit in an individual’s psychological, social and occupational functioning. These disorders are of security concern because they may indicate a defect in judgment, reliability or stability.
A credentialed mental health professional (e.g., clinical psychologist or psychiatrist), employed by, acceptable to, or approved by the government, should be utilized in evaluating potentially disqualifying and mitigating information fully and properly, and particularly for consultation with the individual’s mental health care provider.
Conditions that could raise a security concern and may be disqualifying include:
……
c. A pattern of high-risk, irresponsible, aggressive, anti-social or emotionally unstable behavior;
d. Information that suggests that the individual’s current behavior indicates a defect in his or her judgment or reliability.

@15: the real problem with Mccain’s so-called plan for health care is that it would cost the average american family more (it only gives a rebate on 5K and the average family health care costs 12K).
The insidious result of the terrible health care plan is that it would discourage employers from giving ANY health care benefits since these would now lose their tax exmpt status. This would result in less employer health care than we now have and more people would lose health care in the long run because they could not afford it.
McCain’s plan would cost me more and lead to higher taxes. I can’t afford McCain and his higher taxes. The only people who would benefit from Mccain tax plan and health care plan are his rich lobbyist buddies who make over 250K a year.

McCain is no hero. He’s a physically and mentally scarred prison-camp survivor. A dangerous man with an ax to grind.
I’m glad he survived, but he never did a thing in his lifetime to protect this country from anything.
My uncle was a marine who was in the Bataan Death March, survived four years in a Japanese prison camp, and went on a few years later to fight in the Korean War — where he was seriously wounded — but recovered.
THAT’S a hero.
And my uncle, a quiet, unassuming guy, never spoke a word about his service to his country.
Every other word out of McCain’s mouth is an attempt to cash in on his experience as a prison camp survivor who crashed his jet in a stupid, useless war that should never have been fought in the first place.
Patriot and hero, my ass.

Obama is a muslim: This is just a lie.
When republicans get desperate they try to throw as much mud as possible and hope that some sticks.
Ask them how that investigation into Sarah Palin is doing – seems a key witness recanted under oath that Palin was not trying to use illegal political influence.

Are you against people having the right to vote?
Ayers I have already debunked and Wright is also a silly argument. Palin’s minister has bragged about witch hunting. Are you in favor of that?
You are not really in the “middle” if you are bringing up these bogus attacks. Instead, you are a “concern troll” from the right wing trying to make people concerned about non-important things.
On the issues, Obama has won the debate with the American people. Now, the republican attack squad (which you are part of) has to try and label Obama as bad. The problem is that Obama showed people in the debates he is an intelligent and reasonable politician. So now you need these smear tactics to try and swing the race back. You don’t want to talk about the economy, about deregulation or about the wasteful war in Iraq. You want to talk about false smears. It speaks volumes that false smears are all the republicans have left.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Democrats Close In On 60 Senate Seats
While all eyes have been focused on the White House race, something equally dramatic has been quietly happening behind the scenes: Recent poll shifts put Democrats within reach of a filibuster-proof 60-seat Senate majority.
It was a given that Democrats would pick up Senate seats this year, simply because Republicans have 22 seats up for reelection compared to the Democrats’ 11, and Republicans have half a dozen retiring senators compared to none for the Democrats. But earlier this year, most pundits pegged the probably Democrat gain to half a dozen or so, bringing their Senate total to 55 or 56.
Well guess what, things have changed! New polls show “a powerful surge” for the Democratic candidates, according to Time magazine.
A Friday poll shows Al Franken is poised to knock off Republican Norm Coleman in Minnesota. A Colorado race that was virtually tied has “broken decisively” for the Democratic candidate. The McCain campaign acknowledges that Republican Elizabeth Dole “is certain to lose” in North Carolina. The GOP’s Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, is in danger of losing his race. Even in Georgia, Republican Saxby Chambliss now looks beatable. Republicans expect to lose in Virginia and New Mexico, and think there’s “a pretty strong chance” they’ll lose Alaska, New Hampshire, and Oregon, too.
In other words, the sky is falling on the GOP tent. A Democratic supermajority in the Senate means Republicans won’t be able to block President Obama’s judicial opponents or the Democrats’ legislative initiatives — even if moderate Republican Senators don’t help the Democrats, as they sometimes have in the past. In short, President Obama will be able to pass comprehensive health care reform — and appoint flaming liberals to the Supreme Court.
Hell, with that kind of power, he might as well go all the way and authorize renditions of Republicans to foreign countries for “special interrogations.” Just kidding! That’s a Republican joke.

“Bush’s decisions over the past eight years — to go to war in Iraq, to neglect the war in Afghanistan, to aggrandize the rich and neglect the middle class — created the dreadful moment this country faces right now, and people know that. Fearful for their futures and the nation’s, they seem to be looking for … steadiness, knowledge and some clear ideas about what to do going forward ….”
(Quoted under fair use.)

The incredible, thuggish stupidity of Sarah Palin-

“If you don’t support me, you’re going to hell.”
Incredible.Sarah Palin’s message to undecided women is “Support me, or burn.” Is she out of her mind? Has she mistaken Sean Hannity for America? Does she really think this is going to sway women who are on the fence? Does she think Madeline Albright is going to give her cover? Does she have any concern for her own career?
But that isn’t even the half. McCain–equally stupid–has somehow gotten it in his head that Palin is an effective attack dog–but she has no credibility, why would anyone believe her? She basically represent a profane, thuggish populism–but nothing else. George Bush had “compassionate conservativism” and “the ownership society.” What else do these guys have? They’re just running on a kind of tribal neandrathalism–nothing else.
UPDATE: What manner of Christianity is this? I can’t talk because I’m not exactly a believer, but seriously–is claiming to know who will burn for eternity Christ-like? If you’re a serious Christian isn’t this offensive? There’s something almost Taliban-like about it.
